Michigan shot 54 percent and a variety of defenses confused Memphis and the Wolverines rolled, 73-61 in Maui.
Tried watching it yesterday. Saw the Tigers jacking up 3s early in possessions. Watched Michigan play team ball on offense. Turned away in disgust.

That almost seemed like a joke with the music. Their fox news is intense.

That almost seemed like a joke with the music
Even their news anchor music sounds villainous.

Dr. Drew discovered that her breasts are real but that they were 47 years old.
November 22nd, 2011 at 8:25 AM
Doesn’t it just make sense to shut down Adrian Peterson for the season and get a higher draft pick?
High ankle sprains don’t heal quickly. Why put Peterson on the field just to get him banged up further for a team going nowhere?
November 22nd, 2011 at 8:25 AM
Big Julie Bowen fan, well done
November 22nd, 2011 at 8:26 AM
Can someone tell me what those idiots at UC Davis were actually protesting?
November 22nd, 2011 at 8:28 AM
California has a huge budget problem washing those salaries and pensions off the books should help.

I find her funny at times, but definitely not sexy. That photo is just weird.

November 22nd, 2011 at 8:31 AM
UC Davis were actually protesting?
I would guess the economic instability of the country as well the culture of entitlement whereby you can profit from personally failing the worlds economy but be military strength maced for sitting down on a sidewalk and exercising free speech.
November 22nd, 2011 at 8:31 AM
Ser Sidney Crosby of Nova Scotia. I bow to you.
/playing the worst team in the conference helps

Michigan played well, and played together. To me, team ball never goes out of style.

everybody loves Kristen Wiig
I find her funny at times, but definitely not sexy. That photo is just weird.
I disagree. All she has to do is change positions.
/Never seen her work, however.

That Russian news is like watching a bad military thriller movie written from a Tom Clancy novel in the mid ’80s.
November 22nd, 2011 at 8:36 AM
That PSU article is a joke. Do some research on the woman in question and you’ll learn just how hated she was by everyone at the university (not even including the athletic department). Here’s a snippet.
November 22nd, 2011 at 8:37 AM
I too, am curious about this. Was this an Occupy protest?
November 22nd, 2011 at 8:37 AM
It’s amazing how much hotter she is now versus what she looked like when she was Happy Gilmore’s girlfriend.
November 22nd, 2011 at 8:38 AM
I’ve always been a fan of Beilein’s semi-princeton style. Lately, he’s been moving moving away from his 1-3-1 towards a packline man-to-man and only using the zone for matchups. If he keeps getting heralded recruits, look out.
November 22nd, 2011 at 8:38 AM
Can’t stand her – I find her skits/work almost painful to watch.
/thought Bridesmaids was average, but would have fantastic without her/Mya Rudolph

Wiig is a two-face.
November 22nd, 2011 at 8:40 AM
TBL, were you blaming the defense that gave up 10 points for the Broncos loss?
November 22nd, 2011 at 8:42 AM
Julie Bowen would be a billion times prettier if she’d gain 5-10 lbs. She looked completely horrible at the Emmys this year.
November 22nd, 2011 at 8:42 AM
Agreed…Maya Rudolph is very overrated as an actress. I don’t think I have ever guffawed once watching her.
November 22nd, 2011 at 8:43 AM
Was this an Occupy protest?
Yes. I find it disturbing when protesting a tax money bailout (among other things some good, some asinine) public employees payed with tax dollars used a weapon payed for by tax dollars to mace taxpayers complaining about the collusion of government and the private sector.
November 22nd, 2011 at 8:43 AM
Uh, uh… offensive line!
November 22nd, 2011 at 8:43 AM
i’ll wait for the hard-core liberals to chime in. is this really the reason? what do they think the protest will accomplish?
November 22nd, 2011 at 8:44 AM
check the date on that tweet. BEFORE the Broncos game.
November 22nd, 2011 at 8:44 AM
Wait, so we’re calling them idiots just because they were peacefully protesting? Or they’re idiots because the police brutally and excessively attacked them with pepper spray normally used to dispurse rioters?
November 22nd, 2011 at 8:45 AM
Agreed. Julie was banging hot though when she was on the criminally underrated show, Ed.
November 22nd, 2011 at 8:45 AM
Can’t wait.
He’s kind of a d-bag, but his ballot/explanation at least makes sense.
November 22nd, 2011 at 8:45 AM
SHE IS 17?!
November 22nd, 2011 at 8:46 AM
My mistake. So you were blaming the #2 ranked defense for the 5-4 start?
November 22nd, 2011 at 8:47 AM
His play has eased the pain of Darius Morris leaving for the NBA. Or really, just leaving.
November 22nd, 2011 at 8:48 AM
Julie Bowen would be a billion times prettier if she’d gain 5-10 lbs. She looked completely horrible at the Emmys this year.
This.
I think most actresses America considers sexy could stand to eat a meal once in a while.
At my size, I would break most of these “skinny Minnies”. Skinny ain’t sexy.
November 22nd, 2011 at 8:48 AM
The rest might be neat, but the opening paragraph puts Robert Mays squarely in the “I don’t know anything about football I only like high-scoring games” camp. I initially watched both, and ended up glued to LSU-Bama, because it was far more riveting.
November 22nd, 2011 at 8:48 AM
TBL, you’re a parent. Would you tell your child not to do something he thought was important just because YOU don’t think it will accomplish anything? Should people keep their mouths shut when they feel passionately about a cause because their words may fall on deaf ears?
November 22nd, 2011 at 8:48 AM
Is this the “movement’s” latest mission statement?
Might have to tweak it just a bit to gain some mainstream support.
November 22nd, 2011 at 8:48 AM
bad comp…i see her more as kim k minus the tush and famous daddy and friends and money and…
November 22nd, 2011 at 8:49 AM
I’m calling them idiots based on stereotypical protests that occur on CA campuses usually resulting in hippies getting arrested because someone is ripping down a tree to put up a new research center.
I’d hardly call the use of pepper spray “brutal” to disperse protestors who were likely warned multiple times to disperse prior to being sprayed. You act like it was a random act of police violence
November 22nd, 2011 at 8:49 AM
Yes she is 17! 17 trapped in a late 30′s skank body.

Our school system has a strict anti-bully stance. It is not enforced in the slightest.

November 22nd, 2011 at 8:50 AM

November 22nd, 2011 at 8:51 AM
Doesn’t it just make sense to shut down Adrian Peterson for the season and get a higher draft pick?
who has to tell him? Because he’s gonna get real mad.
He might at first. But, it could be good for his long-term health. Two, he still gets paid during his rehab, right? Three, maybe his return coincides with his team getting slightly better.
Heck yeah, he is a supreme competitor. You always want guys with his fire on the field. I just don’t know what you gain by him limping through the end of this season.
November 22nd, 2011 at 8:51 AM
They were sitting on the ground on a sidewalk, not tossing rocks at buildings and threatening police officers. The officers could have easily gone up to each person and arrested them without spraying mase directly into their faces from 3 feet away.
November 22nd, 2011 at 8:52 AM
TBL you’ve linked to that UC Davis video two straight days without knowing that was an Occupy protest?
November 22nd, 2011 at 8:52 AM
…and Bobby Moynihan at the top of their list for worst current SNLers.
November 22nd, 2011 at 8:53 AM
Everybody? I don’t think so, she actually seems very disliked among TBL commenters. And my brother declared her the least funny cast member on SNL at present (I think I might agree). She’s hardly loved by everybody.
November 22nd, 2011 at 8:53 AM
I don’t see the big deal… the Boise State kicker tried the same thing last week. He just didn’t get arrested because he missed the door.
November 22nd, 2011 at 8:53 AM
Skinny is sexy. When a women is wearing a bikini, and her ribs have a bigger peak than her flat chest, well that ain’t.
November 22nd, 2011 at 8:54 AM
Did you still disagree 70 pounds ago, Spencer?
November 22nd, 2011 at 8:54 AM
can’t pin blame in any one area, IMO.
but where are you seeing “No. 2 ranked defense?” By what metric is that?
here are the defensive stats. Jets aren’t No. 2 in anything, unless you were being funny and meant “shit” instead of No. 2

November 22nd, 2011 at 8:54 AM
No, no, SG, if you don’t follow the orders of people with weapons you deserve the be on the receiving end of those weapons.
November 22nd, 2011 at 8:55 AM
Couldn’t pick her out of a lineup. I just googled her and can’t picture her actually being in anything.
November 22nd, 2011 at 8:55 AM
This kind of bully mentality was the catalyst for the Sandusky culture.
November 22nd, 2011 at 8:55 AM
Damn skippy, I do.
November 22nd, 2011 at 8:55 AM
Agree totally on both points…she was far hotter on ED…and ED was a friggin’ fantastic show.
November 22nd, 2011 at 8:56 AM
I can get down with anything from slim to thick, but skinny is gross to me, just like fat. And anorexic and obese creep me out.
November 22nd, 2011 at 8:56 AM
At present? Bill Hader, and I don’t think it’s close.
November 22nd, 2011 at 8:57 AM
That link says the Jets have given up 217 points this year, which is true. But are you really going to pin all of those pick-6 Sanchez specials on your defense?
Wait. Of course you would.
November 22nd, 2011 at 8:57 AM
yep.
November 22nd, 2011 at 8:57 AM
some people are wired this way. I’m not. My wife is occasionally passionate about this stuff (really into student government & politics, VP of her student class, etc). frankly, i hope my kid isn’t into this kind of thing. i’d much prefer him to get good grades, be an athlete, and not get sidetracked with this stuff.
i pop off all the time about subjects i feel passionate about. i don’t see myself being part of anything like UC Davis.
November 22nd, 2011 at 8:57 AM
Skinny ain’t sexy.
disagree.
Skinny is sexy. When a women is wearing a bikini, and her ribs have a bigger peak than her flat chest, well that ain’t.
I like curves on women. Standing in a knock-kneed pose to simulate/pretend having hips seems like bait-and-switch to me.
Not a big fan of cankles, but not a big fan of stick legs either. Somebody like Cory Everson (minus the supplements) would be a great example.

November 22nd, 2011 at 8:58 AM
did you watch the video? not sure how you can gather those assumptions w/o knowing what actually happened.
November 22nd, 2011 at 8:58 AM
skinny is sexy, it’s the frail, protruding ribs, skin on top of skeleton look that is fucking gross and completely unattractive.

RIP Miami Hurricanes alum TD streak. 149 weeks.
November 22nd, 2011 at 9:00 AM
so you’re conceding the Jets don’t have the No. 2 defense in the league. by no metric are they close to No. 2 in defense.
glad we cleared that up.
November 22nd, 2011 at 9:01 AM
oh…well i wasn’t paying attention.
November 22nd, 2011 at 9:01 AM
Bowen’s issue isn’t that she’s skinny, it’s that she’s got that Madonna, muscle veins jerking alive like firehoses thing going on. That’s creepy.
November 22nd, 2011 at 9:02 AM
“Rich Rodriguez is Arizona’s new coach”
But, wait, I’m confused. RichRod wasn’t one of the many coaches named as a potential hire for ths job in the “Idiots guide to the 2012 coaching carousel.”
November 22nd, 2011 at 9:02 AM
TBL wants his kid to be nontroversial and an inactivist. There’s nothing wrong with it, and I am probably too much like that also, but there still needs to be leaders and doers, and people who want to change the world they live in. The upper-middle class buck-passers who take their money and freedom for granted, without considering the world it comes from, are moochers just as much as the jobless welfare recipients they scorn so much.
November 22nd, 2011 at 9:02 AM
Thanks for that link, Scalia. I needed a laugh this morning.
Rusty: Surely this is what you were talking about when you said the Jets were No. 2, right?
November 22nd, 2011 at 9:03 AM
Pretty inspiring stuff.
November 22nd, 2011 at 9:03 AM
not to be insincere, but you got a low 7 figure payout for this site, right?
while there are some 1%ers in the protests, a vast majority is made up of the young and unemployed or underemployed.

November 22nd, 2011 at 9:04 AM
i hope my kid isn’t into this kind of thing. i’d much prefer him to get good grades, be an athlete, and not get sidetracked with this stuff.
Good call TBL.
From experience, just be ready to deal with a career ending injury. The hardest personal thing he had to deal with in his life so far.
November 22nd, 2011 at 9:04 AM
So you’d rather waste public resources/money to arrest, process and try dozens of trespassing cases versus spraying a cheap bottle of pepper spray and hoping they’d leave?
The first thing in the video is a cop walking up to the one guy, tapping him on the shoulder, and politely warns him of what’s coming. The guy on the ground even says “You’re going to shoot us for sitting here?”
November 22nd, 2011 at 9:04 AM
I am conceding that you act like a child when confronted with facts that squelch your Sanchez boner. Glad we cleared that up.
November 22nd, 2011 at 9:04 AM
you can still be a leader and a doer without being part of a protest and getting arrested and pepper sprayed.
you are correct, he was not named as a potential hire at Arizona.
November 22nd, 2011 at 9:05 AM
Do not want.
November 22nd, 2011 at 9:05 AM
Biggest turnaround? Dolphins, whose defense looked disastrous in the first coupla’ weeks, are now sixth best in points allowed.
November 22nd, 2011 at 9:08 AM
you don’t pepper spray people and then let them peacefully disperse as they wander blindly away.
you pepper spray to subdue them for arrest. they were already subdued, having several officers with the plastic cuffs ready to use them, could easily walk up behind each protestor and cuff them.
it’s excessive force.
November 22nd, 2011 at 9:10 AM
NO2Xplode will do that to ya.
November 22nd, 2011 at 9:11 AM
Well if my choices are “wasting” public resources or violent, excessive use of force, I’d choose the former. And I can’t stand hippies.
I don’t understand why the police even needed to get involved. It’s a bunch of kids sitting on the ground. The police don’t have other things they can be doing that would be a better use of public resources and tax dollars?
November 22nd, 2011 at 9:11 AM
could easily walk up behind each protestor and cuff them.
I think they were linked in arms, to stop precisely that. I think that’s the idea of making a human chain. (not a human centipede).
Also, Bill Hader is the answer to the SNL question. I also like the new girl who looks like she should have been on MadTV.
November 22nd, 2011 at 9:11 AM
if we were getting excessive about it, i would’ve called in the pepper spray AC130.
November 22nd, 2011 at 9:11 AM

November 22nd, 2011 at 9:15 AM

November 22nd, 2011 at 9:15 AM
TBL, I think I might need your Jets’ card. Because the only thing making anyone laugh is that you have the fecal matter from Sanchez’s obviously horrible play square in the eyes. The only problem with the defense is that they somehow can’t get the offense to a.) get off the field or b.) give them better starting position. El Fin.

Don’t let the fact that the “upper-middle class buck-passers” pay quite a bit in taxes while “the jobless welfare recipients” don’t, dissuade you from lumping them all together as moochers.
November 22nd, 2011 at 9:15 AM

November 22nd, 2011 at 9:15 AM
Not so fast my friend.
November 22nd, 2011 at 9:15 AM
The fact that campus police need M4′s & riot gear is a little more worrisome.
November 22nd, 2011 at 9:16 AM
And I can’t stand hippies.
a quick hippie aside:
my brother recently got a country house near Woodstock NY. We were there visiting over the summer, and he was telling us about the 5 o’clock sunday drum circle in the town center of woodstock (and how stupid it was). Anyway, we ended up driving by there at about 5.17pm, and it was already totally in full force, complete with the 55 year old non-drumming hippie crone woman, in full drunken satyr dance, drunk on the music. I scorned it, and we drove away.
But the real gem of the experience came when we were a mile out of town the other way, and we passed some hippie on a bicycle, busting ass as fast as he could, full on road raging on his bike, like he was late to the meeting of his life. No Zen, no calm, no cool. Just a guy freaking his shit about being late, on a bicycle, in flip flops, with a drum on his back. And to get to a “totally organic” thing that just happens.
November 22nd, 2011 at 9:16 AM
I think everyone should get a turn, after every Jets loss
November 22nd, 2011 at 9:17 AM
TBL, people like you and I aren’t the ones that are going to sit out on a sidewalk as a protest. I support Occupy Wall Street but I don’t have the desire to camp outside for weeks on end. That doesn’t mean these types of protests are a waste of time. Think about the civil rights movement. What if all those people would have just stayed home instead of protested racial inequality?

November 22nd, 2011 at 9:18 AM
Yeah… and don’t think I full support the Occupy stuff, because I have yet to hear a point other than “we’re mad”. What you said (grades/sports don’t get sidetracked) reeks of inactivism though, not “hey make a difference and have a cause, just try not to get arrested on national tv”

Ohio State hoops is much, much more athletic than last year. It will dominate the B1G if they improve their free throw shooting.

I felt they were favorites around Jan 1st last year. But alas, half the team got major boo boos. I’m just praying nobody gets a major injury for the rest of the year, but I know that’s not happening.

you know what’s funny? no one would even know about US Davis protests if it wasn’t for the actions of the cops there.
so, sure, they disbanded the protestors, made some arrests, and the uprising was quelled… but now it’s a topic of discussion and only making the protestors there and everywhere else more determined.
sorry, but the people who are handling the response to the protests are all fucking idiots.

November 22nd, 2011 at 9:22 AM
They deserved it. When police ask you to move on, you move on. Looked like they were purposefully blocking some walkway or sidewalk. Peacefully protesting does not include screwing with other peoples ability to use roads, bridges, walkways, etc. And they were warned plenty before being sprayed. They chose the spray. Dumbasses…

Actually that’s incorrect. I received unemployment and still paid taxes. Also, I’m pretty sure a majority of upper middle class people who pay accountants to find every tax loop hole end up paying much less than an average person.

November 22nd, 2011 at 9:26 AM
I support Occupy Wall Street but I don’t have the desire to camp outside for weeks on end. That doesn’t mean these types of protests are a waste of time. Think about the civil rights movement. What if all those people would have just stayed home instead of protested racial inequality?
I get the impression the Occupy movements around the country have done an incomplete job of expressing their concerns at the highest level. I base this on the response many have – that the Occupy folk are just a bunch of privileged whiners. Maybe this “leaderless” movement needs a leader who can galvanize the effort.
Peaceful protests are effective when 1)your position is clearly articulated, and 2) your behavior is consistent with your intital intent. If you say it’s peaceful, then be peaceful/maintain your resolute dignity even in the face of threat.
November 22nd, 2011 at 9:27 AM
Well when you’re in the bottom half of the league in scoring it’s hard to argue with that.

one of the problems is the fact the police deemed it necessary to spray in the first place.
look, these are college kids. let them sit their ass in the quad for a while, they will get attention on campus, but eventually they will find something else to do when the semester ends and they have to go home.
protests gain power from responses like this b/c it makes the news.

Forgive my ignorance, but what exactly is the point of OWS? Do they have a specific change they’d like to see? If we said “okay you win, you get your way, what do you want?” would they have a plan/agenda and just sit around smoking victory hemp?

The thing about the Penguins is this: yeah they haven’t had a healthy center-corps in a long time until now (knock on wood). But they also haven’t had their defense entirely healthy until now. Top to bottom the best defense in the league and the best all around defenseman in the league. In a healthy vacuum, they’re absolutely the best team in the league. The thing about your mother is this: fuck your mothers.
November 22nd, 2011 at 9:30 AM

Look, I’m puck a noob. But all I know is that they’re 4 points back of first having played 4 lesser games. Let me and my bandwagon cushion enjoy this early ride while you and your already crowned champs and their mind liquified captain beat your dicks to beating the worst team in the league.
November 22nd, 2011 at 9:30 AM
There is nothing more American than protesting. The country was practically founded on it.
But the OWS kids are largely unorganized, leaderless, and probably don’t have the first clue to how capital markets work. This is going to be a cultural data point, in all likelihood, and nothing more.
November 22nd, 2011 at 9:31 AM
Did you see them all grabbing each other and locking arms to prevent exactly what you are saying? It would have turned into a whole physical thing and then you would be crying even harder. Please. The police were 100% right here. Go protest somewhere where you aren’t bothering anyone.

Then how do the top 5 – 10% of income earners still manage to pay 50% of all income taxes in this country? Not to mention property and sales taxes? Nice of you to quote Rachel Maddow though.
25% of $400 per week is a hell of a lot less than 30% of $2500 per week.
November 22nd, 2011 at 9:32 AM
The UC Davis protest was in response to the students and faculty at Berkely being violently broken up by police. It was a peaceful protest against police strongarm tactics. But none of it is to surpress the message, it is all about moving the protestors to a different place. Cops are just doing a job, but chemical agents are excessive when no public safety issue is present.
November 22nd, 2011 at 9:32 AM
One of the biggest points is corporate influence on government. The amendment that the Florida Congressman proposed recently would be amazing if passed, but in reality it’s political suicide because corporation own the country and that’s one of their biggest concerns. And why not?

While a lot of the people being interviewed while they camp out on the streets are “whiny kids” with entitlement issues, I think a lot of people who support the movement know what issues they’d like to see changed. They don’t want to “steal” money from the rich people and they’re not asking for a hand out. They want the people of America to benefit from tax dollars, not corporations and financial institutions.

And these kids were warned several times to get up or run the risk of arrest and pepper spray. They knew what they were doing. They knew that part would be left out of the video. November 22nd, 2011 at 9:43 AM
if people protesting interfere with my daily life of going to work and home to take care of my family, that is just going to piss me off, not gain sympathy for your cause. You can protest in certain places and gain all the attention necessary without generating ill will. Effective protesting vs. jackass attention grabbing, there’s a difference.

It is going to be fun to watch Penguins games now though. At least when they’re not playing Chicago. Mole mentioned the best defense in the league which I simply can’t agree with. But down the middle? Those 3 centers can’t be topped. They make matching up with Pittsburgh on any line difficult. They also make their powerplay probably the best in the league this side of Vancouver.
I’m curious to see how 87′s ice time works in the next couple weeks. I wonder how much time Bylsma will give him on the PK as well as the PP.

actually, the first thing we can really try to change is the redistricting that is done on both sides to ensure easy re-elections.
make the elections more competitive by aligning districts into competitive cross sections on a more permanent basis and have an independant evaulator appointed to ensure any changes are made favor competitiveness rather than easy elections for one party or another.
also, more work days for the legislative branch during the year and 2 and 3 year cycles for the house and senate.

I’m off for a run, but I’m making turkey lasagna later. Who’s in for a taste?
Send the recipe my way, plz
Uh, it’s lasagna but with turkey instead of ground beef.
(Snark-free version) – Spray a lasagna-capable casserole dish with non-stick spray. Boil pasta 9 min or so. Brown 1 lb of ground meat, then simmer it with one 24 oz jar of spaghetti sauce.
I pat dry the pasta after boiling, cause it gets slippery. Layer pasta at bottom of casserole. Pour on a layer of meat/sauce mixture. I then layer on some cottage cheese, followed by layers of mozzarella and provolone. Put on another layer of pasta and repeat layering. Put remaining pasta on top. Sprinkle grated parmesan on top. Cover with foil.
Cook at 375 deg for an hour to hour +15 min. When top layer of pasta starts to brown and get a little crusty, I stop. Let it cool (duh!) and there you go.
It’s pretty simple, and my kids dig it.

1.) No, it’s not the best “beyond a shadow of a doubt”. The Flyers top 5 almost certainly rivals it (if not bests it) when healthy.
2.) Paul Martin and Michalek came up through the Pittsburgh system? Really?
How about some credit to Dan Bylsma, for changing the way the team plays because of all of the injuries they’ve had? He’s been the best coach in the NHL for the last 2 years, IMO.

Yeah Bowman has done well to make up for the mistakes of Tallon, but Shero has only made two questionable moves, giving Fleury probably a million more than he’s worth and overpaying for Kunitz’s extension. Other than that, best GM in the league and one who has completely transformed this team’s defense from relying on Sergei Gonchar’s lazy ass three years ago to one that can shut down pretty much anyone and move the puck at will.

Non-violent protest is one of the most important tenets of the American free society in my opinion. When this is taken away it is a major problem, and that others see these people as “idiots” is alarming.
Our founding fathers practiced civil disobedience and we are all better for it. Do not let the fringe aspects of the Occupy movement cloud the main points they are making.
The UC Davis issue has lazy and terrible police work written all over it. You can argue that the officers were poorly trainined but that doesnt excuse the actions.
November 22nd, 2011 at 9:53 AM
If Joel Quenneville continues to dress the obelisk of uselessness that is John Scott, I’ll be in the market for not only a top 6 forward, but a lobotomy doctor and a new coach around February too. Keep that worthless 6’8″ piece of crap off the ice and in the press box, dammit. Good coaches don’t dress shitty players like this is little league or some shit.

the big problem now are the facts you have leaders in congress and the senate who have had their jobs for 20,25,30+ years… they don’t have to work for a vote, they don’t have to be accountable to the american public…
of course the republicans won’t budge… they can set fire to the country and still get re-elected in their district.
of course the dems won’t budge… they can stand by and watch the country be set ablaze and still win their district.
of course no 3rd party will ever win… the dems and republicans are so entrenched with certain districts being so favorable towards the incumbant they don’t have a chance to win.

Ricotta: mixing an egg, a half pound of shredded provolone, 1/2 tablespoon olive oil, and just a bit of salt/pepper oregano per large container of ricotta. Blend well. Makes it much smoother (similar to what a true calzone has, with provolone-ricotta blend).

I hope the both the Flyers and the Capitals play the Penguins in the Eastern conference playoffs. Those would be some great series. For once, I have to say that WSH and PHI have the goaltending advantage. Not by much, but I’d take both their netminders over Fleury. Vokoun has been shaky to start this season, we’ll see how he pans once the Caps really hit their stride. Breezy had his rough patch and appears to be even keel now.
I agree with dewar that Philly’s defense against the Pens would be a good matchup. However, the defensive ability of PIT’s forwards more than trumps what the Flyers have up front. I’m curious if Bylsma would try to match the Crosby line or the Staal line with Giroux.
November 22nd, 2011 at 9:59 AM

The problem isn’t the idea of lobbyists. Citizens have the right to pool money and hire people to represent them and fight for a cause. That’s all a lobbyist is.
The problem is members of Congress who are perpetually campaigning, constantly open for business with these people (by taking their campaign and other “donations”).

Moochers wasn’t meant in a literal who pays more taxes sense. It’s mean that rich people are rich because they have poor people working for them (in a general sense). Very few people are ‘independently wealthy’, so to live your life in a shell, cash your checks, and ignore the world around you, feeling free of any sort of social obligation = makes you a moocher.

Again, you’re wrong. I was correcting your comment about jobless people receiving government assistance. You said they don’t pay taxes which is incorrect.
SG,
Unfortunately you are incorrect here. Yes you may have taxes taken out of unemployment upfront or at the end of the year but you qualify for the Earned Income Credit, you get it all back because you dont make the threshold to actually have taxes taken from you. So the 53% paying all the taxes is an absolute true number. 47% of America does not pay income taxes at the end of the year. They get a credit while the majority pays. And you can bet your bottom dollar that people on government assistance do not pay income tax. They dont make enough.
