I grew up in Wisconsin and sometimes when I go home my mom tells me there is BBQ in the fridge. I open it up and see sloppy joes. I weep for her every time it happens. I think my blank expression usually tells her what she needs to know.

I also just looked and it said the Public Eye closed down in 2000. I’m with you though on listening to the locals. there is a place in Little Rock called Sims that is awesome and I don’t think many people know about.

there’s a place I ate at a few times in grad school that’s between the U of Memphis and the Liberty Bowl stadium on the same road (Central Ave maybe?). it’s kindof a hole-in-the-wall place, but phenomenal. you walk out smelling like you were on the pit.

my wife and I were talking about Rendezvous just last weekend. that picture was taken October 2010. I had a work trip to Memphis and got to catch the Tigers season opening hoops game and eat Rendezvous all in the same night. nomnomnomnom.

I don’t know if he’s decided to be a ‘lifer’ or not. His wife is also in the service; they met at the academy. So she fully understands the life. But he’s already been to Japan and also logged 250 hours over Iraq. So he’s been there, done that in a very short period of time.
