Meet the Football Recruit Being Hailed as the Next Tim Tebow
Perpetually embattled Georgia coach Mark Richt quietly secured a committed Monday: Faton Bauta, a kid being hailed as the “Next Tim Tebow.” Let’s get this out of the way first: Faton Bauta, is only the 65th-rated high school football player in Florida according to Rivals. Tebow, who accomplished tons at the high school level and was a highly-routed recruit, was ranked 3rd in the state, and 22nd in the nation. Everyone wanted Tebow; Purdue and Mississippi St., among others, were interested in Bauta. But the parallels to Tebow are incredible!
Both guys were high school QBs in Florida! (Though Bauta transferred there from Brooklyn.)
Both guys are nearly the exact same size (6-3, 220)!

Did anybody actually watch the video? I know highlight tapes can be pretty misleading but this dude actually looks like he can throw the football. UGA may have stolen a gem. Not every 5 star is a stud and not every 3 star is a bum. He looks much more polished than Tebow. Plus he’s doing the right thing by going to a pro-style offense in Georgia. Why would any high school QB with NFL aspirations want to go to a spread school when you have the physical characteristics of an NFL QB? He could go to a spread based school and be just another QB who has ridiculous stats and a game that doesn’t translate to the NFL or he can go to a pro-style school and develop the skills he’ll actually use in the NFL.

Well said, actually. A lot of people around UGA think this commit means Hutson Mason (current backup to Murray) is gone after the year. There is actually a rather large group of UGA fans who think Mason should be playing this year over Murray, or at the very least getting several series. I shit you not. Saying “Thank you and god bless” after every interview shouldn’t count as preaching. Half the athletes in the NFL/NBA/MLB start every post game interview by thanking god and they don’t get the same treatment. Ray Lewis preaches more than any athlete on the planet and the anti-religious crowd isn’t up in arms over him.
