Candace is a winner — and though TBLAD dissected last night’s events, I’m curious as to how it will go with the roundup crown.

this site must have a forehead magnifier built-in.
November 10th, 2011 at 8:07 AM
I didnt see the Perry thing b/c I was flipping around — that dude self sabotages his own campaign in fantastic ways.
November 10th, 2011 at 8:08 AM
That Pedo State kid looks like Jim Breuer. I half expected him to go full on goat boy during that interview.

i needs new tires on my Jeep Liberty… i drive 40 miles each way to/from work. need something that helps with fuel economy and doesn’t wear too fast. anyone have any recommendations?
November 10th, 2011 at 8:11 AM
If the Republican choices are Perry or Cain, my write-in vote will be for Purdue Matt.
November 10th, 2011 at 8:12 AM
Recommendation? Get a Toyota or Honda beater to get you from point A to point B. Save the Jeep Liberty for the snow/weekends. 80 miles a day … are you filling up gas twice a week?
November 10th, 2011 at 8:12 AM
I finally sat down and read the 23 pages of the grand jury findings. Combining that with what I’ve read on here and other places over the past few days, I will say that this witch hunt on Paterno is going to wind up alot like the witch hunt for the weapons of mass destruction used as justification to go to Iraq 10 years ago. A lot of blind emotion.
November 10th, 2011 at 8:13 AM
If the Republican choices are Perry or Cain
Perry has no shot, Cain still has a shot and his campaign staff should send a thank you letter to Sandusky & Co. every day.
November 10th, 2011 at 8:13 AM
TBL, you trying to kill us with those Victoria’s Secret pictures?
That being said, I couldn’t get past this one. Good Lord!

definitely 2x a week. when i got the car i was driving like 5 miles daily and was in college.

On WEEI Mark Madden (who wrote the story 7 months ago) just said there are rumors that Sandusky was pimping out young boys from his non-profit to wealthy donors. He said two prominent national reports are investigating this right now.

Anyone in the IT field knows about the Fargo boom. That place is insane as far as the job openings there for developers and anyone who knows anything about software development.

All in on Mitt, TBL?
November 10th, 2011 at 8:22 AM
TBL — how did you not put Roddy White’s tweet in the roundup? You retweeted it, but that is laugh out loud funny:
Penn state is wrong for firing Joe pa right now if he goes down the AD and president must go
November 10th, 2011 at 8:23 AM
I know this has been all Penn St all the time lately, and you commenters are sick of it, but when I heard that rumor, I had to drop by and leave it in here.
November 10th, 2011 at 8:23 AM
wind up alot like the witch hunt for the weapons of mass destruction used as justification to go to Iraq 10 years ago.
And the PoFlaWa being early this morning.
Nah, the Kurds were never gassed, nor were the Iranians during the Iran Iraq war. They just died from a lot of camels farting. I wonder if there are underground facilities or mobile bio and chem weapons stations that could have easily been moved into Syria before the invasion.
But why bother arguing? You’re going to believe what you’re going to believe and be disdainful of any viewpoint different than yours.
November 10th, 2011 at 8:23 AM
Dude.. Isnt the write in vote supposed to be for Jersey and wilhelm?

i needs new tires on my Jeep Liberty… i drive 40 miles each way to/from work. need something that helps with fuel economy and doesn’t wear too fast. anyone have any recommendations?
BF Goodrich Long Trail is what I have on my Xterra (45 miles a day) and I get decent mileage out of my Xterra
November 10th, 2011 at 8:25 AM
don’t drive a jeep liberty?
but in all seriousness, I would go with BFG’s. they are more expensive on the front end, but they will last. I’ve got 210,000 miles on my truck and I am on my third set of BFG’s, been averaging over 60,000 miles on the tires. not sure about the fuel economy on them though.
November 10th, 2011 at 8:25 AM
my wife used to be a fan of Mitt, but I dont know if i’ll vote for him, assuming he gets the nod. too early to tell. i’m not sure if i could vote for any of the R candidates other than Mitt, though

If you’re willing to drop some cash, buy Michelin tires. Just had to replace mine on my car after 3 1/2 years (45,000 miles).
November 10th, 2011 at 8:29 AM
either that, or for some reason half the commentors on here love to focus on it, which is flat out odd.

Third rec on the BF Goodrich tires – they last. Got 65,000+ out of a set on a Ranger. A friend got 80,000+ out of a set on an F250. Just gotta be careful in the rain – they’re hard as hell.

On WEEI Mark Madden (who wrote the story 7 months ago) just said there are rumors that Sandusky was pimping out young boys from his non-profit to wealthy donors. He said two prominent national reports are investigating this right now.
The settlement, the cost of litigation and all the investigations (state, national, local) will combine to cost the state of PA about $500,000,000.00 IMO. And a total loss of reputation for PSU for the next 25 years. Everybody looking away became a de-facto state sanctioned child rape.
November 10th, 2011 at 8:35 AM
Good job pulling the passed out guy out of the burning building.
/I would have just reported it to my supervisor and pretended it never happened

November 10th, 2011 at 8:36 AM
So, the Second Mile is rumored to:
- be a Roman boysex service
- serve as a laundry for paying PSU players
What next? Was Paterno on the grassy knoll?
November 10th, 2011 at 8:36 AM
I really don’t love it that much.
my car just shrunk considerably, and there is now somebody kicking my seat everywhere we go.
I only know about snow tires, so I can’t help with the tire thing.

By the way, holding the press conference after 10:00 on a college campus? Its almost like they wanted a riot.
November 10th, 2011 at 8:36 AM
If the current field stands the way it is, I don’t see how he doesn’t win the nod.
I think this election is a lot like 2004. There was a long shot in the lead for the nomination, then started doing weird stuff so the party went with the safe choice everyone knew, but weren’t too excited about from Mass. even though he comes with “flip-flopper” charges. You take it because the incumbent is beatable, but you wish you had someone better, but everyone who is deemed “better” on would rather wait four years.
November 10th, 2011 at 8:36 AM
Was Paterno on the grassy knoll?

November 10th, 2011 at 8:37 AM
So now paying my state taxes supports child rape? I cant win!
November 10th, 2011 at 8:37 AM
I really wish my parents would have given me that warning when I was in high school. oops.
November 10th, 2011 at 8:38 AM
Yeah, I know. Nothing occured between the almost 15 years of those gassings and Iraqi Freedom to have me believe they still had loads and loads of gas. There wasn’t tons of intelligence out there that said Iraq had nothing. There weren’t any inspectors who said Iraq had nothing. But don’t worry, the manipulation was bi-partisan with Clinton’s Desert Fox campaign.

In light of JoePa, we need some levity. And no better time to do this Top 5 than the day after the VS show and on the heels of Lindsay Lohan’s pictorial. So, top five you want to see in Playboy:
1. Yvonne Strahovski
2. Sofia Vergara
3. Jessica Simpson
4. Jessica Biel
5. Kaley Cuoco
Go ahead. Tear it apart.
November 10th, 2011 at 8:39 AM
But don’t worry, the manipulation was bi-partisan with Clinton’s Desert Fox campaign.
Yeah we bombed the shit out of Iraq in 1999/2000 and it really didn’t get much publicity.
/polished Desert Fox ribbons

November 10th, 2011 at 8:41 AM
I would put Jessica Simpson circa 2005 above all of those. As they are now? Biel is #1

they can carry the debt on their credit card, amiright? That will be better for the institution in the long run.

LOL no it just supports all the litigation. Just add $.02 tax on all tacos sold in State College and this should all be paid for shortly
November 10th, 2011 at 8:42 AM

aren’t you the guy who was going to purchase a prostitute on a recent trip to Florida? Because if you are, and you did, you can tell us that story.
/Kaley Cuoco has an ugly face at least 70% of the time.
November 10th, 2011 at 8:43 AM
Michelin LTX MS2 – civilized road noise, wear great, last a long time, and will give you better gas milage
something to also think about is if you go with any sort of all-terrain or mud-terrain tire you will be moving more mass (tread volume is usually higher) and this eats into fuel economy and makes for louder tires. If you wanted an AT tire, I would suggest the Bridgeston Dueler AT’s, the originals or the Revo’s.
November 10th, 2011 at 8:43 AM
ren’t you the guy who was going to purchase a prostitute on a recent trip to Florida?

Is an school endowment capable of paying a settlement? I’m curious how that’s set up. Some schools the endowment is kept seperate through some alumni/seperate charity for nonsense just like this.
If they were stupid enough to not put all that endowment cash someplace else, WHOOPS.
November 10th, 2011 at 8:45 AM
if they put it on an American Express, they might qualify for a Black Card next year. that would be pretty cool for them.

See, this is exactly what I mean. Tell someone how wrong they are, and then use the old “you’re dumb to understand argument, so I won’t waste my breath.” But that’s fine if my feeble mindedness cannot comprehend your transcendental mind.
November 10th, 2011 at 8:49 AM
like I said above, I am a huge fan of BFG AT’s, any idea how they line up with the Bridgestones? I kind of figured that with most brand-name tires, at least on AT’s more often than not they will be good tires. I’ve had nothing but good luck with my BFG’s, had maybe one flat over three sets and 8 years.
November 10th, 2011 at 8:49 AM
just heard mark amdden on the radio. he says one rumor is one of the investigations going on is that second mile pimped out kids to wealthy donors

November 10th, 2011 at 8:49 AM
Not sure if their investment policy statement is public, but most say you can only spend around 3-5% per year. Some say you must spend around that amount (Austin for example) which is why their campus is under constant renovation/improvements.
I’d be surprised if the endowment could be touched, but that is for legal minds to figure out.

doesn’t Urinal Mint live in or around Dallas? Because Dallas has plenty of water, always. They dammed up all the rivers and built reservoirs, and then sell the water to everybody else.
It’s central Texas that doesn’t have any water in droughts, because somebody dammed up all the rivers.

that would bother me a great deal, but my wife listens to crummy pop music so… it’s for the best.
that’s good to hear. i liked it better than her current CRV, mostly because my long gangly legs actually fit in the car.

I want to donkey punch you and your stupid little yellow (brown? beige?) hat so bad sometimes. Mierda and crew is taking first place Sunday night. Hijack style.
November 10th, 2011 at 9:09 AM
Most of them, no. Almost all of the public courses went into early dormancy, unless they were one of the few near a creek or river bed. My course went cart path only in early July (talk about a pace killer) and it held up pretty well. The on-course ponds almost completely dried up a couple of times.
I was fully expecting my course to start shutting down 1-2 days a week to preserve the turf, but it never got that bad. It sits directly on a creek, so it manages to catch a lot of runoff from other areas. The superintendent did an amazing job keeping the bent greens in immaculate shape throughout.
Now that it’s raining once/twice a week and the rye grass is installed, everything looks lush again.
November 10th, 2011 at 9:10 AM
Yes. And you’re right, Austin/San Antonio took it in the ass this year on drought. All of their courses dried up. The munis in the Austin area were trashed.

November 10th, 2011 at 9:12 AM
Fun Fact: Arizona has been in a drought for about 10+ years but water is not a problem because city planners were very smart and created the SRP and CRP which takes large amounts of water from the Salt, Verde and Colorado rivers. California city planners…not so smart.

Agreed, no need to blow it out of proportion. I just don’t want to see the game return to mid-90′s style of play.

dfw courses were a wreck this summer, especially the greens. they are back though.

November 10th, 2011 at 9:30 AM
no…i was subliminally thinking of what the announcers were saying. i was working on my swing in the other room when it happened and never saw the highlight.

So, if this has been discussed already, I apologize for not reading thoroughly all 29 PSU posts in the last 2 days, but what is going to happen to the school when the NCAA comes down on them? Or will it not be a “big deal” because it didn’t directly involve players?
November 10th, 2011 at 9:33 AM
NCAA Bylaw 19.01.2 and LACK OF INSTITUTIONAL CONTROL.

/way back to a comment earlier
November 10th, 2011 at 9:36 AM
I think it depends a bit more on how it all shakes out, but, as a PSU grad, I really feel like this is something that only happened because of just how connected football and academics were to a degree you don’t get everywhere. When you talk about losing institutional control and that sort of thing, I think the NCAA will have some sort of avenue to come down on them.
November 10th, 2011 at 9:37 AM
Way too soon, SG.
November 10th, 2011 at 9:38 AM
I would think its only a criminal case and not about player A selling a Jersey for cash or something. The NCAA would ignore it like they would if a player threatened to kill his gf..
November 10th, 2011 at 9:39 AM
**Why does everybody assume this just started in 1998. It’s more likely that Sandusky has been raping kids for a lot longer than that. It’s possible he’s been doing it for a long long time. There is a lot out there that we don’t know about.
Would you say for every victim that comes forward one/two/three might not?
November 10th, 2011 at 9:41 AM
Again, being completely out of touch with 99% of NCAA rules/regs, “Lack of Institutional Control” means what, exactly? Is this a Death Penalty kind of thing?
November 10th, 2011 at 9:41 AM
1995 called and wants it’s style of hockey back.
Geez: Did you see Pronger’s post game comments? He was…well….honest.
November 10th, 2011 at 9:42 AM
PSU will not get a lack of institutional control penalty. This is a criminal issue and doesn’t involve breaking NCAA rules to gain an advantage on the field.
November 10th, 2011 at 9:42 AM

November 10th, 2011 at 9:44 AM
It means what goes on at places like USC and OSU. So if they didn’t get it, no one will. The NCAA is a joke, but it’s not so stupid that it would shut down a football program that pays for all of the other crappy sports that lose millions.
November 10th, 2011 at 9:44 AM
also, happy birthday marines.

November 10th, 2011 at 9:45 AM
it mostly means there’s no control at the institution. being serious though, I don’t really know what the NCAA can do about this. this is up to the real police and lawyers, not the authorities that deal in student-athlete related matters.

November 10th, 2011 at 9:45 AM
From Poynter:
A College Football Nation blog post Monday by Adam Rittenberg examined how the Penn State scandal could affect the Nittany Lions’ recruiting. Rittenberg’s post linked to one of ESPN’s early news stories about the case, but made scant mention of the particulars of the case beyond that.
To be sure, college football recruiting is a topic of vast interest to a fair-sized audience, and there’s certainly a story there at some point. But coming when it did, Rittenberg’s post wound up looking myopic and trivial. Readers pounced in the comments. “10-year-olds anally raped? Quick, what are the recruiting implications?” asked one commenter, while another advised, “Leave your Bristol bubble and rejoin the human race.”

No state taking water from the Colorado is particularly smart, since the water compact was written in a historically wet year in the late 19th century, and the resultant overuse by all these Arizona/California municipal straws have turned it into a dab of mud.
