Mark Richt Did Not Appreciate That Question About Suspensions
All, College Football, Media Gossip/Musings, Video November 9th. 2011, 4:55pm
If you couldn’t hear what the question was, it sounded like, “To get this business out of the way, are there any suspensions we need to know about?” Was it a snide question? A bit, sure. But in light of last week, I didn’t think the question was out of line. Did Richt handle it well? Of course not. Go Auburn! [via Red & Black]

Richt is a good Christian. Jesus got mad at the temple once and chased off the moneychangers. This is the same deal.
November 9th, 2011 at 4:57 PM
School that (allegedly) paid for a national championship and got away with it > team that suspended their players just in time for New Mexico State
/quite a moral compass you got there
November 9th, 2011 at 4:58 PM
Eh, it was a stupid question. Richt will be servicable on tv next season.
November 9th, 2011 at 5:01 PM
“I’m gonna answer your question”
/doesn’t answer the question
Still, Richt is a Cane so go Dawgs.

Mark Richt
COME TO PENN STATE!

I have a relative who thinks that Richt walks on water because he was in that Jesus football movie that came out like 4 years ago.
/Southern thing
//Yeah, I don’t get it either

“I’ll answer that question…..I’m not going to answer that question”
WHAT?
November 9th, 2011 at 5:05 PM
/vomits.
As for Richt, the questions he could be asked could be a hell of a lot worse.
November 9th, 2011 at 5:06 PM
That’s the problem, right? Auburn has been exonerated at least twice during this process. At some point that actually must count for something.
November 9th, 2011 at 5:06 PM
houston nutt was in it is well, so that should throw all credibility out the window.
November 9th, 2011 at 5:06 PM
Was it really that poorly handled? He didn’t like it, and chose not to answer it.
November 9th, 2011 at 5:06 PM
The only time it is acceptable to root for Auburn this year is against Alabama.
/team anti-rematch

Go Auburn? Nobody says Go Auburn. You just say War Eagle.
Actually, it’s not allegedly anymore. There is no allegation.
Anybody watch the ESPN doc last night? It was awful.
November 9th, 2011 at 5:08 PM
I didn’t catch it. Was it actually bad, or is it just that an Auburn fan didn’t like it?
November 9th, 2011 at 5:08 PM
My “Occupy Herbstreit” sign”:
I’m in the 99%.
Will Mark Richt adopt me even though
I’m not Christian,
I’m not from the Ukraine and
I don’t have a rare syndrome?
November 9th, 2011 at 5:10 PM
It’s funnier to think of the questions that could have been asked to get Richt’s same response…
So, Mark, what’s with the lack of personality, bro? You mad?
November 9th, 2011 at 5:10 PM
speaking of Occupy Herbstreit, some good new ones posted over on its tumblr page

Anybody watch the ESPN doc last night? It was awful.
I thought it made the bammers look way more delusional and more “winning is the only thing”. Was a bit surprised it wasn’t more “Finebaum’d”
November 9th, 2011 at 5:11 PM
most things > Finebaum
November 9th, 2011 at 5:12 PM
Whatever. Good for them. Keeps the SEC streak alive. But the NCAA put this one on themselves.
/remember when Cam was “reinstated” and nobody even knew he was suspended?
November 9th, 2011 at 5:13 PM
It was unbiased/neutral if that’s what you mean. And Auburn came out slightly ahead in the lack of psycho department. We had Bo, Barkley, etc. making comments while Bama had Updyke and Sheridan represented, among others.
I thought it was bad because it was extremely topical and unfocused, spinning from topic to topic, game to game, without delving too deep. They never attempted to answer “why” things are the way the are and only devoted a few passing seconds to how we got there. Given the quality of other ESPN docs, this one was lacking. It’s as if they plucked a Yankee from Bristol, planted him in Birmingham for two weeks, and said give us an hour. He did. And came out understanding nothing.
November 9th, 2011 at 5:14 PM
When it comes to athlete arrests, the SEC is definitely the most dominant.
/urban meyer’s time at UF
November 9th, 2011 at 5:15 PM
Yeah, didn’t he look like the even keeled journalist instead of the malicious instigator he really is. Here’s one to ponder – if there is no Finebaum, there is no Harvey Updyke.
November 9th, 2011 at 5:16 PM
updyke had it all wrong…you’re supposed to smoke trees.
/mellow enhanced
November 9th, 2011 at 5:16 PM
Richt to PSU. Stoops to Georgia.
November 9th, 2011 at 5:16 PM
Points to State College. Says nothing. Fits right in in State College.
November 9th, 2011 at 5:17 PM
well mike stoops IS unemployed at the moment
November 9th, 2011 at 5:19 PM
It was unbiased/neutral
That was obviously, the only goal, as stated at the end of the program.
… And to tell about two recent nat champ teams. No more than that really.
”I paid $275 for a ticket I couldn’t even afford”- Harvey Updyke
I did feel a little as though they were making Updyke out to be a bit of a bama folk hero.
And who names their son “Gay”?
November 9th, 2011 at 5:20 PM
Your name is Gaylord Focker?
November 9th, 2011 at 5:22 PM
I could have done without Harvey Updyke pondering life on the railroad tracks, the weirdo playing piano, the mixed marriages that offered absolutely nothing of value. Like I said, topical and unfocused. If they wanted to talk about the two teams in relation to each other and in relation to the 2 national titles, they should have spent an hour discussing only the ’09 and ’10 Iron Bowls. And they didn’t even mention the ’89 game? That was one of, if not the biggest from AU’s perspective in the history of the series. Give me the same budget and I could make a one hour doc on that game alone.
November 9th, 2011 at 5:23 PM
why can’t more bama and auburn fans be like rittyrich?
/damn outliers
November 9th, 2011 at 5:24 PM
Against Bama!
and then stop recruiting Arkansas please.
November 9th, 2011 at 5:27 PM
Rivalry between two biggest schools in a state with no professional sports teams.
What’s left to understand? This ain’t building pianos, as my ex-foreman used to say.
November 9th, 2011 at 5:32 PM
I was pretty sick of hearing “Rohla Dahm Tahhhd” after last night I know that. I caught myself saying it a couple times, I had to wash my mouth out with soap.
November 9th, 2011 at 5:33 PM
That’s a good line.
There is more cultural history than meets the eye. There are Auburn towns and Bama towns. There are political differences that affect gubernatorial outcomes. There are agricultural roots. Family legacies. All of which could have been broached. Instead, we got a combined 15 minutes or so of some dude playing piano and former players/coaches saying Roll Tide or War Eagle. Awesome!
/ cuts to Harvey Updyke holding an acorn, staring at it, with one of his 50+ hats!

Richt isn’t going anywhere, his must-win game was Florida. Oh and Chip Towers is a dipshit
November 9th, 2011 at 6:09 PM
Anybody watch the ESPN doc last night? It was awful.
It was bad. Didn’t get the whole “David from Real World making funny faces at me while he plays Sweet Home Alabama on a piano.” It was too focused on recent events and blazed past Jordan and Bryant.
When compared to the doc that HBO did for Michigan-OSU, it doesn’t stand a chance.
Richt isn’t going anywhere
I agree. Now, next year….
November 9th, 2011 at 7:27 PM
It’s as if they plucked a Yankee from Bristol, planted him in Birmingham for two weeks, and said give us an hour.
You can tell that’s obviously not the case. If it was, 45 minutes would have been devoted to the Yankees-Sox rivalry.
