Surfer Sets World Record by Riding 90-Foot Wave

A surfer by the name of Garrett McNamara has broken the world record for the largest wave ever surfed. An Irish surfer? Splendid work, lad. The feat was so impressive that even the YouTube comments, at least the first two posted, have been normal human reactions. That’s more remarkable than successfully handling a 90-foot wave.

To no surprise, according to my surfing source, Bodhi, Johnny Utah and the rest of the crew remain thoroughly unimpressed.

It is mindblowing to me that there are waves that large in the world.

/my beach experience growing up was Galveston, Texas.

That’s nine stories of water crashing down around you. I’ve seen some incredible surfing at Half Moon Bay, but nothing this impressive for sheer power.
