Here’s a Photo of Jerry Sandusky at the Penn Stater Hotel Oct. 7th Celebrating the Title-Winning ’86 Nittany Lions
When Penn State celebrated its 1986 Championship team Oct. 7th at the Penn Stater hotel one mile from Beaver Stadium, allegedly child sex abuser and former defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky was in attendance. A reader notes that while Joe Paterno is in some of the photos from the event, Sandusky left before Paterno arrived. (Sandusky is in the 23rd photo.) So much for keeping the pedophile away from the program.

This post was awesome. Kudos, TBL. But can you make some crazy allegations in the next one, maybe the mob put Joe Pa up to it? Those are so sweet and journalistic-y.
November 8th, 2011 at 11:36 AM
If Sandusky were the only pedophile involved with the 86 team the scandal wouldn’t be as large as it is. Fuck the 86 Nittany Lions. Fuck em all right in the asshole in the shower in the locker room
November 8th, 2011 at 11:38 AM
Not pictured: Ray Gricar. Feel free to speculate why.
/last night.
November 8th, 2011 at 11:38 AM
is the Penn Stater hotel affiliated with the university in any way?
November 8th, 2011 at 11:38 AM
Fuck the 86 Nittany Lions.
+5 Vinny INT’s.
November 8th, 2011 at 11:40 AM
Where did TBL make these mob comments that people are alluding to?
November 8th, 2011 at 11:40 AM
Nice to see everyone is remaining rational about this …
Penn State football should be retired, permanently
November 8th, 2011 at 11:41 AM
Huh?
November 8th, 2011 at 11:41 AM
Coward cancelled his news conference.
November 8th, 2011 at 11:42 AM
Not pictured: Jerry Sandusky’s impure thoughts
November 8th, 2011 at 11:43 AM
these fucking cowards. they canceled it. unbelievable.
to announced it, invite all the media, and then pull the plug? they’re going to get destroyed
November 8th, 2011 at 11:43 AM
Hopefully Joe Pa doesn’t pull a Budd Dwyer at the presser.
November 8th, 2011 at 11:43 AM
I mean that the ’86 Nittany Lions were a breeding ground for professionals in the field of child molestation. Some big timers at NAMBLA got their start on that team
November 8th, 2011 at 11:44 AM
is there any reason sandusky didn’t push the guy in the wheelchair into the sauna for a brief fingerblasting? come to your own conclusions as to why that cripple’s butthole wasn’t given the ol’ slap and pickle.
November 8th, 2011 at 11:44 AM
He was never going to answer Sandusky questions and that was all he was going to get.
And it wasn’t going to be the normal press crew Joe could bully (as college football coaches are wont to do with the press corps).
That was the school saving Joe from himself.
November 8th, 2011 at 11:44 AM
there is no “mob comments.” this is the post a few of the clowns here are bent about.
http://thebiglead.com/index.php/2011/11/07/why-did-the-district-attorney-in-pennsylvania-not-pursue-a-case-against-jerry-sandusky-in-1998/
i’ll probably tweet it out every day this week in their honor
November 8th, 2011 at 11:44 AM
Aw, there won’t be a news conference where every answer would be “I can’t talk about an ongoing investigation”? That’s a shame
November 8th, 2011 at 11:45 AM
According to this report – JoePa wanted to do the presser. Spanier canceled it… http://www.pennlive.com/midstate/index.ssf/2011/11/penn_state_football_press_conf.html
November 8th, 2011 at 11:45 AM
How could it get worse Jason? It really can’t.
November 8th, 2011 at 11:46 AM
I really don’t even know if Joe is spry enough to know the severity of the accusations and exactly what Penn State is being accused of. I mean that in all sincerity.
November 8th, 2011 at 11:46 AM
Aw, there won’t be a news conference where every answer would be “I can’t talk about an ongoing investigation”? That’s a shame
Bingo.
November 8th, 2011 at 11:47 AM
I made the same “mob” comments to my wife last night. They covered up something this huge – and had the current AG in their back pocket. Not saying his “missing” is related – but regardless the fact that he did nothing shows how much power the football program had in this State.
November 8th, 2011 at 11:47 AM
Inside sources are telling me the press conference has been postponed to give them time to come up with a better speech than, “so we fucked some poor kids, so what? You got the football program you always wanted. Contrary to media reports our incoming class of freshmen looks phenomenal for 2012.”
November 8th, 2011 at 11:48 AM
From Sara Ganim… Paterno said he was looking forward to the opportunity to discuss concerns related to the scandal, as well as to talk about Saturday’s game against Nebraska. The football players don’t deserve having the press conference canceled, Paterno said.
November 8th, 2011 at 11:48 AM
Yes it can. It just did. When they announced the press conference it’s not as if they didn’t know what questions would be coming. Horrible PR, atrocious strategy. Complete morons.
November 8th, 2011 at 11:48 AM
I believe that Joe honestly believed that he could go into that press room and stay on the topic of the Nebraska game.
I thought this AM that Joe can and would say something completely inappropriate at this thing and apparently, I wasn’t the only one.
November 8th, 2011 at 11:48 AM
pretty dick move considering that one of the individuals in question is EXTREMELY close to both the subject and PSU athletic politics. then again, if it’s “in his honor” you might want to hold back considering the subject who’s motivation you question is “his missing relative,” not just a faceless character in this fiction story.
November 8th, 2011 at 11:49 AM
to announced it, invite all the media, and then pull the plug? they’re going to get destroyed
When you cut a 6 figure cheque to a pr company you might as well take their advice.
/speculative
November 8th, 2011 at 11:49 AM
Penn State hired Tiger Woods post-hydrant-crash PR team.
November 8th, 2011 at 11:49 AM
Morons maybe, but when there are people (in legion) calling for your jobs and for the school to shut the program down…..not sure it can get worse by simply pissing off some press folks.
November 8th, 2011 at 11:50 AM
Sandusky: Hey Joe, What’s the best thing about showering the 11 year old boys?
JoePa: *Sigh* What’s that Jerry?
Sandusky: When you slick their hair back they look like their 10
JoePa: Hilarious Jerry, I just shat my pants.
November 8th, 2011 at 11:50 AM
pretty dick move considering that one of the individuals in question is
Ha ha yeah whatevs CLOWN
November 8th, 2011 at 11:50 AM
and they hired LRMR as consultants.
November 8th, 2011 at 11:50 AM
then again, if it’s “in his honor” you might want to hold back considering the subject who’s motivation you question is “his missing relative,” not just a faceless character in this fiction story.
whoa.
November 8th, 2011 at 11:52 AM
thanks, Rusty.
November 8th, 2011 at 11:52 AM
Penn State hired Tiger Woods post-hydrant-crash PR team.
Kinda wish there was another Tiger-esque scandal where we could humanize the ugly hookers Tom Brady has been banging on the side. I’m so sick of this story. Doesn’t matter how many get fired or thrown in jail or are forced to resign in shame. Justice won’t ever be served.
November 8th, 2011 at 11:53 AM
Riggs!
November 8th, 2011 at 11:53 AM
Guys, TBL didn’t hint at anything, just wanted you to “form your own conclusions” since the lawyers wouldn’t let him spell it out in the post
November 8th, 2011 at 11:54 AM
I guarantee cancelling 40 minutes before is preferable what would have actually happened pr wise.
/which is what makes this so frustrating

COWARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRDS
/School Ties
November 8th, 2011 at 11:54 AM
The point of PR is to put your best foot forward and to have a say in the direction of the overall conversation. THe only way PSU can do this is to have the head of the Board of Trustees of the school president get out in front of this much better than their terrible “we stand behind them” statement.
Penn State obviously has no idea what they are doing. Any media interview that occurs before what I just mentioned is a terrible mistake. Maybe get a hometown paper to interview some seniors about Nebraska and that’s it.
This and the Tiger Woods affair could be a best-selling case study how NOT TO DO THINGS.
November 8th, 2011 at 11:54 AM
how can that be? I got an email from Tony Gricar last night. I responded but have not heard back.
November 8th, 2011 at 11:54 AM
I’m pretty sure Sandusky, OH is in the process of changing it’s name.

You’re very welcome. Looking forward to the Sandusky dick post next.
/make that paper, yo
November 8th, 2011 at 11:58 AM
Any word how they cancelled the presser? Did somebody have the cajones to go into the media area and take a bullett or did they fire off an email to their distribution group.
November 8th, 2011 at 11:59 AM
Rusty, Sandusky is a dick. That’s been known for awhile.
What else you got?
I really need your insightful input on the direction to take this story. I know you’re just devouring everything you can read, but if you come up for air, pass along anything you see interesting.
November 8th, 2011 at 12:00 PM
how can that be what? a dick move to tweet that post about one the esteemed members of your blog’s commenting community’s missing uncle that reads like it was written by someone who’s watched too many mafia movies?
cmon man…you really don’t know why us “clowns” would be bent out of shape regarding that post?
November 8th, 2011 at 12:00 PM
The idea that they were going to get through that press conference and talk about the Nebraska game is either clueless, arrogant, or both.
November 8th, 2011 at 12:03 PM
So announcing a press conference in the first place was tragically moronic. Bad PR.
November 8th, 2011 at 12:04 PM
Paterno in the practice presser was probably adamant about saying something damning so they had to cancel:
‘Back in my day kids had discipline and on one cried just cause a kid got Millard Fillmore’d, it builds character and kept the kids from numbing their brains with hoop and stick games.’
November 8th, 2011 at 12:04 PM
Tim, that press conference is held weekly on Tuesdays to discuss the upcoming opponent. It’s a normal part of the program’s press cycle.
It was scheduled a long time ago.
November 8th, 2011 at 12:07 PM
Check your facts at the door, mister.
November 8th, 2011 at 12:10 PM
Please do, maybe your dream of being sodomized by Jerry Sandusky will come true.
This is all speculation of course, but the direction this blog has gone with the story leads me to my own conclusions.
November 8th, 2011 at 12:10 PM
Then postpone it Monday morning, remove heads from collective asses, and release a well-spun statement to bide a little time.
November 8th, 2011 at 12:11 PM
Wow. So that’s the connection? I’ve been wondering for about a whole day what it was. Holy crap. Everyone has a right to be pissed about that post.
November 8th, 2011 at 12:11 PM
Penn State is in full reaction mode, two steps behind and they have no idea what is going on. The fact that they knew they had national media coming today and didn’t delay is a window into their befuddlement and a microcosm of the school.
The football tail has wagged the dog and they are in some inertia where neither side can control the other half so they are just doing nothing. Spring play on campus is King Lear starring Joe Pa.

It’s a terrible, thoughtless, rambling post…if you are going to tweet out something daily from this website, it should be Duffy’s post.
November 8th, 2011 at 12:15 PM
TBL – you need to back off on this. You went past the line.
November 8th, 2011 at 12:15 PM
So to recap:
TBL is angry at the missing DA from the mid-90s
Everyone else is disgusted with Sandusky
/Hernia reserves his vitriol for the PSU PR staff
November 8th, 2011 at 12:15 PM
Woah. You flinch, you miss everything.
November 8th, 2011 at 12:17 PM
I wrote, “If you have any questions, feel free to ask.”
You replied, “Tony, where, you hiding out, man?”
Now, correct me if I’m wrong, but if the PR spokesperson for the missing DA, as well as the investigation’s point of contact, contacts you, something more than referring to him as a “clown” or a more probing response than “where you hiding out, man” might be in order for someone of your journalistic background.

I implore all of you that have only read this post/comments that is interested in the DA aspect of this case to go read TBL’s post about it (linked a few times), the back and forth between TBL and the commenters (RKDS most notably), and then TBL’s insistence on throwing this around as if he’s proud of it.
November 8th, 2011 at 12:46 PM
That’s just sad.

Yes, purchased from the original owner 10-15 years ago. PSU land leased to 3r party owner then sold back to Penn State. originally called the Scanticon

It’s also pretty much SOP for dealing with things he doesn’t want to hear. Usually it’s just glossing over Sanchez’s STATS. Now, though, it’s honestly just vile.
