Eagles Blow Another 4th Quarter Lead and Lose to the Bears, Face Serious Uphill Climb to the Playoffs
After the Eagles staved off a late Redskins’ rally two weeks ago, Philadelphia was “back.” The season had been saved. Last week, after a 34-7 Sunday Night thrashing of the Cowboys, the Eagles were thought to be among the contenders in the NFC again despite being just 3-4.
But of course, they’re not. Chicago 30, Philadelphia 24. Those choking frauds blew another 4th quarter lead this season – they’ve led going into the 4th quarter in 7 of 8 games – to fall to 3-5. The Eagles are two games behind the Bears and Falcons in the Wild Card race. The Eagles have lost to the Bears and Falcons, so they’d need to pass both of them to sneak into the playoffs. I know Las Vegas loves the Eagles, and the offensive is explosive enough to win eight in a row, but the defense is embarrassingly inconsistent and you gotta wonder – have opponents solved Mike Vick?
[Tangent: I am a huge Vick fan but look at how far his numbers have fallen from a year ago with the exact same offensive weapons: 9 rushing TDs in 2010, 0 this year; six interceptions in 2010, 9 this year; he's down a bit in YPA and completion percentage and down 15 points in QB rating. Perhaps that's an issue for Lisk to explore.]
There are 4 gimmies left on Philly’s schedule – Arizona, Seattle, Miami and Washington. So let’s put Philly at 7-5. Based on what you’ve seen so far this season, can the Jekyll-and-Hyde Eagles defeat the Giants (who seem to play up or down to their opponent), Patriots (free-falling, but Belichick and Brady are still breathing), Jets (emerging!) and Cowboys (another team that runs hot and cold). A split will leave Philly at 9-7. That wouldn’t be enough.
Here’s the problem – the Bears still play the entire AFC West (strangely, four weeks in a row), plus Seattle and Minnesota. The Bears get a rematch with Detroit in Chicago this week. I didn’t like the Bears coming into this season – who knew Matt Forte would be 2nd in the league in rushing? – but they just need a 5-3 mark the rest of the way to get to 10 wins. Based on that schedule, I think 6-2 is totally possible and 7-1 (a loss to the Packers) is not out of the question.
The Eagles basically need to go 7-1 to get to 10-6, and then need help.
It’s going to be a seriously difficult uphill climb for the Eagles to make the playoffs. (Want to scare an Eagles’ fan? Tell them to look at Atlanta’s remaining games. Three of the eight are against teams with a winning record – New Orleans twice, and at Houston. Yes, that’s the same number as the Eagles have … but they trail the Falcons by two games and won’t win a tiebreaker against them.)
If you want to forget the Wild Card, then winning the NFC East is your other option. The Giants are 6-2 and won in Philly. I know the schedule is a murderer’s row, and Coughlin’s team was supposed to go in the tank, but after beating New England on the road, can you really doubt the Giants? I’m reluctant to put Dallas (4-4) in the discussion, because even though it should peel off five wins in a row to get to 9-4 heading into the final month, Miles Austin is hurt, Sean Lee is hurt, and Dez Bryant is Dez Bryant. I have no earthly idea which Dallas team will show up each week.
So. Back to Philly. Despite having the best rushing offense in the NFL, the Eagles can’t hold 4th quarter leads. How do you, in a home game against a team with one of the shakiest offensive lines in the league, not get one sack?
It’s obviously too early to eliminate the Eagles, but there’s no room for error. I think the game in New York against the Giants Nov. 20th will be the season. Win and the Eagles are alive for the NFC East title; lose and it’s over.

Huh?
November 8th, 2011 at 10:01 AM
nice post.
November 8th, 2011 at 10:02 AM
Vikings already played and lost to the Chiefs
November 8th, 2011 at 10:03 AM
Jerry Kill was correct when he stated he was going to improve the Gopher’s schedule.
November 8th, 2011 at 10:04 AM
This team will eek into the playoffs somehow in spite of Andy Reid and Juan Castillo.
/green colored glasses
November 8th, 2011 at 10:05 AM
But how does this impact the Jets and their dreamy QB?
November 8th, 2011 at 10:07 AM
Fire Andy Reid!
My facebook blew up with lots of people saying to blow it up and move towards a Ravens/Steelers style of play. Honestly after the past 13 years, I’m inclined to agree.
November 8th, 2011 at 10:08 AM
I’m wonder if perhaps Penn State paid off Andy Reid to do anything in his power to drop that game last night to take some of the heat off of the program.
/J-Mac
November 8th, 2011 at 10:10 AM
I didnt see much of the game. But that was a stinky roughing the passer call right before the half that allowed the Bears to get the TD instead of the field goal. Reid looked livid.
November 8th, 2011 at 10:12 AM
Considering that Babin was pushed into Cutler by the lineman, it was an awful call and that ump should be immediately never allowed to call another game.
November 8th, 2011 at 10:12 AM
Brian Rolle and Kurt Coleman both play hard. The rest of that defense? Not soo much.

LOL!
November 8th, 2011 at 10:17 AM
So when is the Desean Jackson deal going to get done? Need to get that deal done before y’all honkeys change yo minds.
November 8th, 2011 at 10:18 AM
If this was college football I could show pride in the NFC North being the best division in the conference but as is now it’s just annoying since the Packers won’t be clinching by Thanksgiving like the 49ers
Was hoping for a video of DRC just letting Earl Bennett go mid-tackle, thought that summed up the 2011 Eagle defense in one play
November 8th, 2011 at 10:19 AM
Got news for DJacc…..Shady is going to get his first.
November 8th, 2011 at 10:19 AM
You bet on the Eagles, I see. NFC playoff race should be fun down to week 17. There’s 10 teams with a legit chance at making the playoffs.
They have to protect the face of the league. Brady got those calls for years, it’s Jay’s time now.
November 8th, 2011 at 10:19 AM
At least they have the Phillies
/oh wait
//I love it
November 8th, 2011 at 10:20 AM
the eagles are just unfortunate.
November 8th, 2011 at 10:21 AM
So the Bears play a solid game on both sides of the ball and we get a post of the Eagles sucking. Maybe the Eagles do suck, but let’s give some love to the Bears too.
Also, how long till Eagles draft Vick’s replacement?
November 8th, 2011 at 10:21 AM
iggles blow.
it doesn’t appear any NFC Beast team will make it out of the first round.
November 8th, 2011 at 10:21 AM
I was just gonna say, long live the NFC Norris!
/I’ll be honest, I always enjoyed that one from Berman
November 8th, 2011 at 10:21 AM
Awwwwwkward. Perhaps DJax should switch agents too
November 8th, 2011 at 10:22 AM
Yep, awful call. Just awful. You don’t make that call on a crucial 3rd down before the half, especially if the dude was clearly pushed into the QB. I hate refs and all the new rules. It ruins the game. Plain and simple.
November 8th, 2011 at 10:23 AM
The Eagles are what happens when you load up on skill/luxury positions and ignore the meat and potatoes of your team, like o-line and linebackers.
November 8th, 2011 at 10:23 AM
9-7 might be enough to win this division.
The Giants will struggle to go 4-4 the rest of the way with their schedule. Dallas have four winnable games coming up (BUF, @WAS, MIA, @ ARZ) and could put some pressure on the NY. The Eagles, could conceivably go 6-2 to finish the season with their remaining schedule (if they split their toss-up games – @ NYG, NE, NYJ, @ DAL and win against teams they should beat).
November 8th, 2011 at 10:23 AM
Just too many holes on every NFC East team.
November 8th, 2011 at 10:23 AM
Also, I loved seeing D. Jackson backpedal and then fumble that punt return after dancing around and hyping up the crowd before the ball was punted. Not sure there is a player I enjoy seeing fail more than that little prick.
November 8th, 2011 at 10:24 AM
Honestly, I think they should dump DeSean and try to move up in the draft to get either Blackmon or Alshon. DeSean has amazing speed, but he only has two routes, deep and posts to the sideline. He won’t do crossing routes because of the concussion threat.
November 8th, 2011 at 10:24 AM
Tony Romo in November! To set me up for maximum heart break.
November 8th, 2011 at 10:24 AM
I feel for Spencer. At one point he thought ATL was winning 7 games this year. They are 5-3 with games against:
Tenn at home
Minny at home
Jax at home
Tampa at home
Car on the road
November 8th, 2011 at 10:24 AM
At least they have the Phillies
It’s a Flyers town now.
November 8th, 2011 at 10:25 AM
Even though its a Bears win, it’s still a Vick loss.
/Fuck that dude.
November 8th, 2011 at 10:25 AM
really? his numbers last season (not even a full 16 games) were so incredible you had no realistic vision that he will come down to earth?
November 8th, 2011 at 10:25 AM
They’re the exact opposite of the 2000-04 teams that could plug in guys like Pinkston and Thrash and go deep in the playoffs…now they have a team only a fantasy enthusiast could love
November 8th, 2011 at 10:25 AM
I’m just shocked this wasn’t our game recap this morning.
November 8th, 2011 at 10:27 AM
Also, how long till Eagles draft Vick’s replacement?
ok… that’s just a ridiculous question.
given his contract, his level of play, and how many other teams will be reaching for QBs in the upcoming draft, it’s not happening any time soon.
November 8th, 2011 at 10:27 AM
I agree they should have talked about the other 3rd place team.
November 8th, 2011 at 10:28 AM
Regression is only possible for guys the EIC likes.
Otherwise, it’s just their true fraud self finally revealing itself.
November 8th, 2011 at 10:28 AM
Thank god they didn’t pry a 1st from the Cardinals. Eagles would have been better off just getting a 1st round pick and not taking DRC.
November 8th, 2011 at 10:28 AM
Hell, he fell back down to earth before the end of last season. Remember all the pre-November MVP talk? Lovin this.
November 8th, 2011 at 10:28 AM
news flash- vick has been up and down his whole career, along with frequently unhealthy. thought it was stupid philly paid him that much, now it seems confirmed.
November 8th, 2011 at 10:29 AM
Or a RedZone Channel viewer perhaps?
November 8th, 2011 at 10:30 AM
How does this loss affect recruiting for next year’s Dream Team?
November 8th, 2011 at 10:30 AM
How about Asante Samuel playing with a lacerated groin last night? Ouch.
November 8th, 2011 at 10:30 AM
The Eagles are what happens when you load up on skill/luxury positions and ignore the meat and potatoes of your team, like o-line and linebackers.
so they’re using the redskins model? awful decision.
November 8th, 2011 at 10:31 AM
honestly feel horrible for eagles fans. just a gutpunch.
November 8th, 2011 at 10:32 AM
that’s been working for the colts the past four years.
November 8th, 2011 at 10:32 AM
It appears that way. Wonder what they could get when they try to move Asante this offseason?
November 8th, 2011 at 10:33 AM
yeah, that was a fun time. he had two outstanding games and the rest were above average at best.
it’s almost like the Eagles and everyone else like the EIC fell for all the fantasty projections and love based on the crazy hypothetical that not only will be be able to reproduce his output from last season, but do it for 16 games!
November 8th, 2011 at 10:33 AM
fuck you
November 8th, 2011 at 10:33 AM
Sonofbitch. Tribune reporting Garza is getting a two year extension. He doesn’t need to be retained. Replace him.
November 8th, 2011 at 10:33 AM
Well it’s not quite the Redskins model, ill. They weren’t talking guys out of retirement to give them huge contracts. It’s more like the Cowboys model
November 8th, 2011 at 10:34 AM
Kevin Kolb.
November 8th, 2011 at 10:34 AM
Can J-Mac just be limited to the Roundup?
November 8th, 2011 at 10:35 AM
when should I write my “eagles will make the playoffs” post? In three days to be very biblical, or just go ahead and do it now.
November 8th, 2011 at 10:35 AM
honestly feel horrible for eagles fans. just a gutpunch.
i’m enjoying watching the entire state of PA fall apart. all that remains are the two faggy hockey teams.
November 8th, 2011 at 10:35 AM
I’d rather have Mike Vick right now than a lot of other quarterbacks. Funny the Patriots fans are lambasting Vick after their quarterback laid an egg on his own home field.
November 8th, 2011 at 10:36 AM
I was thinking this meant Matt, and was going to flip out on you a little bit.
November 8th, 2011 at 10:36 AM
You can’t compare Vick to Peyton Manning. Or Jackson/Maclin to Wayne/Clark for that matter.
November 8th, 2011 at 10:37 AM
3rd or 4th round pick because of that cap hit.
November 8th, 2011 at 10:37 AM
That was not even close to a gut punch. Now if Kevin Kolb comes in and hangs 40 on them and throws for 500 yards while Patrick Peterson picks off a Vick pass and jukes Vick so bad that his ankle splits four ways, then we can talk.
November 8th, 2011 at 10:37 AM
They are not making the playoffs, period.
November 8th, 2011 at 10:38 AM
Lisk, go ahead. Just proofread your post before hitting submit.
November 8th, 2011 at 10:38 AM
He thought he was playing flag football. He even threw a little tantrum at the end. Vick was getting plastered by the Bears line last night. The Eagles Left Guard is horrific and will end up getting Vick a night in the hospital by year end.
November 8th, 2011 at 10:38 AM
oh, no doubt.
November 8th, 2011 at 10:39 AM
when should I write my “eagles will make the playoffs” post? In three days to be very biblical, or just go ahead and do it now.
i was fully expecting them to still win the division, but that defense won’t allow them to go on the tear required to do so.
November 8th, 2011 at 10:39 AM
But they are the only team that is a threat to the Packers because they have the secondary to stop em.
/Deon Sanders’d

“Biggest play of the weekend”
November 8th, 2011 at 10:40 AM
If I were the Eagles, I wouldn’t keep DaSean Jackson. He has limited ability as a receiver and unless he has the consistency of Hester on special teams, he’s not worth any kind of big money contract
November 8th, 2011 at 10:42 AM
Patrick Peterson
best player in the draft?
November 8th, 2011 at 10:43 AM
As did Vick.
November 8th, 2011 at 10:43 AM
Ooh, I want to read this. Eli’s December stats will be included, right?
November 8th, 2011 at 10:43 AM
Fuck you, Vegas, and your 8 point spread.
Did anyone else hear Gruden say Johnny Knox was ‘raped’ by a defender when Philly got that pass interference call against them in the 4th quarter? I thought that was in poor taste.
November 8th, 2011 at 10:43 AM
Yup. The Hester contract sucks for the Bears. We’re still $19M under the cap though.
November 8th, 2011 at 10:44 AM
As a return guy maybe….but at least early in the season he was awful in coverage.
November 8th, 2011 at 10:44 AM
john gruden was born in sandusky, ohio.
November 8th, 2011 at 10:44 AM
If he learns to cover one day sure. Cam Newton and AJ Green right now.
November 8th, 2011 at 10:44 AM
The whole “Three number one CB’s” talk needs to talk. Asante has never ever ever been a legit number one, and I’ve never heard anyone talk about Rodgers-Cromartie as a top CB, either (though I’m not sure I’ve ever seen him play).
dumbest player in the draft. he almost gave up a game-losing safety in OT.
November 8th, 2011 at 10:45 AM
the contract may suck but at least he’s not running the punts back against you for another team
November 8th, 2011 at 10:46 AM
If the first conclusion you draw based on the Eagles results this season is that paying Vick was a mistake you are a person comfortable having opinions about things you either don’t watch yourself or aren’t capable of analyzing yourself.
Eagles may have made plenty of mistakes in the off-season. The biggest was “Juan Castillo, DC”. Paying Vick is not on the list.
November 8th, 2011 at 10:47 AM
Did anyone else hear Gruden say Johnny Knox was ‘raped’ by a defender when Philly got that pass interference call against them in the 4th quarter? I thought that was in poor taste.
November 8th, 2011 at 10:47 AM
John Skelton accomplished double that feat not more than several hours earlier.
November 8th, 2011 at 10:47 AM
If anyone picked the Eagles -8, they deserved to lose their money. Maybe the dumbest pick possible… the Eagles have never given anyone with any sense of football a hint that they might be a legitimately good team, yet somehow they were going to cover a TD against a team that showed it can play tough games. This was a joke line, and a joke spread… and it’s the kind of play that separates the gamblers who make picks based on fantasy teams, from the ones who are actually objective.
November 8th, 2011 at 10:47 AM
Can TBL start posting his picks on a weekly basis? Would love to have a consistent fade material. Anyone follow Dodd on CBS? Dude is killing college picks against the spread this year.
November 8th, 2011 at 10:48 AM
Ah, I was waiting for sportsdork to come in here on his diamond pedestal, looking down on us minions for having a different opinion from him.
November 8th, 2011 at 10:48 AM
john gruden was born in sandusky, ohio.
worse than the subzero tweet
November 8th, 2011 at 10:49 AM
He usually throws them in the comments section of some random Saturday morning post, for safe keeping
November 8th, 2011 at 10:49 AM
People really liked DRC when he was a rookie on the Cards team that made it to the Super Bowl. So he was better than expected for about 6 weeks and has otherwise been slightly above average his whole career
November 8th, 2011 at 10:49 AM
The Rodgers-Cromartie play last night when he just gave up halfway through, had his “oh shit” moment, then waited for another Eagle to make the tackle was hilarious to me.
November 8th, 2011 at 10:49 AM
TBL is absolutely right about one thing, the November 20th game against the Giants is a biggie. Win that and suddenly everyone starts writing “OMG the Eagles are back!” pieces again.
November 8th, 2011 at 10:49 AM
Are you going for the green Shooter?
That’s not possible, sir.
I beg to differ. Happy Gilmore accomplished that feat not more than an hour ago.
Well good for Happy Gil, oh my God!
November 8th, 2011 at 10:49 AM
he actually was though, wasn’t he?
November 8th, 2011 at 10:50 AM
Have you come to the conclusion that DRC is not very good yet? Or do you need more time?
November 8th, 2011 at 10:50 AM
starkweather at work sighting?
/start up the band
November 8th, 2011 at 10:51 AM
Sounds like a number 1 to me! I still laugh over the Asante signing though. There’s nothing that bugs me more in football than CB’s who pad their stats/pub by taking unnecessary risks, but can’t tackle or cover.
November 8th, 2011 at 10:51 AM
Well CJ, how am I not supposed to treat you like a minion if you admit to waiting around for me to comment?
November 8th, 2011 at 10:52 AM
She always waits for me to make a frugal spending joke
/thesportshernia
November 8th, 2011 at 10:52 AM
He actively hurts the team. Even if he’s “not good” there’s no way he’s been this bad in his career. I don’t know what the problem is but my first instinct is the blame the DC who has never coached a defense before.
November 8th, 2011 at 10:53 AM
Well, after I blame DRC. His effort at times would be hilarious if it didn’t make me want to die.
November 8th, 2011 at 10:54 AM
If the first conclusion you draw based on the Eagles results this season is that paying Vick was a mistake you are a person comfortable having opinions about things you either don’t watch yourself or aren’t capable of analyzing yourself
i think that is one of many conclusions people have made about this team. whether it was the first one seems irrelevent.
November 8th, 2011 at 10:54 AM
Nope, not at work. It’s not even 8am for me yet. I’m at m.tbl.com
November 8th, 2011 at 10:55 AM
Gruden said “raked” not “raped.” They talked about it on the radio this morning. The replay of the clip was pretty clear he said raked.
November 8th, 2011 at 10:55 AM
So even after you learned the contract was basically a two year deal with an option year 3, your conclusion is “find another quarterback to spend that money on, there’s plenty of good ones available?”.
Makes no sense.
November 8th, 2011 at 10:56 AM
I don’t know. Looks like the same player as the last couple of years. Will occasionally jump in front of a ball and take it to the house, but more often then not he was getting routinely picked on by quarterbacks. Dude just can’t cover, sadly it is mostly mental.
November 8th, 2011 at 10:56 AM
I didn’t bet the game either way, but if you were of that opinion before the game started I would hope you placed a wager for the free money.
November 8th, 2011 at 10:57 AM
Tebow > DRC
November 8th, 2011 at 10:58 AM
The Eagles have an excellent nickel corner just wasting away in Joselio Hanson while DRC continues to get torched. It’s probably too late, but the staff should recognize it and get DRC off the field.
November 8th, 2011 at 11:00 AM
Bears were definitely free money last night. Parlayed that with the over. Gas money for the trip to Athens. YAY!
November 8th, 2011 at 11:01 AM
funny how nobody’s talking about Vick’s 0 TD rushes.
got his $100 mil, now wants to protect it?
Hey, I’m as big of a Vick fan as anyone, but …
November 8th, 2011 at 11:01 AM
Yup, must suck to have all those special teams TDs and good field position.
November 8th, 2011 at 11:02 AM
i’d take petersen over aj green or cam right now. the coverage skills will come with exp, and i love his size (no homo).
not to take away from either of those players.
November 8th, 2011 at 11:02 AM
So even after you learned the contract was basically a two year deal with an option year 3, your conclusion is “find another quarterback to spend that money on, there’s plenty of good ones available?”.
Makes no sense.
after learning of the contract, i was curious why he got the money he did based on past injury history and inconsistent performance. now i am even more curious based on what he has done this year. i dont really care how long the contract is for.
November 8th, 2011 at 11:02 AM
Congrats on the win. Cutler played awesome, converted a ton of third and longs. Really frustrating.
November 8th, 2011 at 11:04 AM
No he didn’t.
You can’t really watch Vick play and actually think “this is a guy being overly protective of himself”, can you?
November 8th, 2011 at 11:04 AM
Congrats on the win. Cutler played awesome, converted a ton of third and longs. Really frustrating
November 8th, 2011 at 11:06 AM
I don’t have the means/contacts to, but I certainly wanted to and tried to call my friend in DE to. The two games I felt the surest on were Stl over Arizona and Chicago over Philly. And that StL beat was basically why I don’t gamble much… as much as that game confirmed it was a good call, sometimes shit just happens.
November 8th, 2011 at 11:06 AM
He’s not worth what he’s being paid. You don’t pay a punt returner wide receiver money. I don’t dislike the guy, he’s merely overpaid. I would advise the Eagles to not make the same mistake with Jackson. I’d tell them to franchise Shady McCoy too.
November 8th, 2011 at 11:08 AM
I think Simmons mentioned that fantasy impacts the lines a lot, because fantasy-heavy teams like Houston and Philly always seem better than their track record suggests, and get a point or two extra because the public money comes in on them so heavily.
November 8th, 2011 at 11:09 AM
Before last night, the Eagles had the least punts in the NFL. Last night was the first time any team this year outgained them. Vick is averaging 7.8 YPA and over 62% completions, both marks well above anything he’d ever done in his career prior to last season.
He’s turning the ball over too much, but he’s been good this year despite the team results.
November 8th, 2011 at 11:11 AM
I disagree. In almost all cases you don’t but when you have a dynamic player like Hester you do.
November 8th, 2011 at 11:12 AM
AND HERE IS WHY PATRICK PETERSON IS A FUCKING MORON.
November 8th, 2011 at 11:13 AM
SC, think of Hester’s contract as HOF money rather than WR money & it becomes more palatable
November 8th, 2011 at 11:14 AM
The multiple Dowling and Price injuries for the Patriots is making me think, so I’ll throw the random thought out and let someone tell me why it’s wrong. Can you successfully identify players who are more or less injury-prone from their college days? (I would think so).
Because of the replacement cost of a starter missing games, is it a worthwhile strategy to sometimes draft guys with lower ceilings who just will never get injured? Is past injury history a predictor of future injuries? Is that something a team could consider? With someone like Vick, if he can’t stay healthy and misses 4 games a year, how much does that change whether it’s a good investment for the team, or are injuries just too random.

That’s that thing our OG almost did that one time, right?

His playing time at WR should remove that from being a possibility, he is so bad…if the best punters of all time don’t get in the hell with putting a returner in

Those 6 TD returns that one season wont seem like much after Peterson hits that mark this year.

It’s still a secondary concern to the bigger question which is what other options did the Eagles have? You can pay a player like Vick, who can be elite when healthy but does have injury concerns, or you can…. what? What other QBs are available that could hypothetically help the Eagles reach a SB?
The answer is none. When you have a QB you hang on, especially one as good as Vick. That they only signed him to a deal that allows them to get out after two years makes it a really good deal for the team.

I have no insight into the psychology behind it, but at least 2 or 3 times last night I thought Vick had a great opportunity to run and didn’t. If I were an Eagle fan, it would have frustrated me.

Doesn’t really answer my question, which was only peripherally about Vick. What about Stafford. Let’s say he’s an above average QB who averages 11 games a year. And Shaun Hill isn’t as good (maybe not true but go with it) but can play 16 games a year and would only miss time with a freak injury.
There must be a point at which health/performance/finances curves all intersect, and it becomes better to have ‘lesser’ players you can count on who are above average, than a good player half the time, and undrafted fucking free agents starting a CB in the fucking playoffs every year.
/seriously Belichick, you didn’t think we’d need more than 3 defensive backs?

Fair enough. I do think it would be difficult to distinguish between “QB missing an opportunity to run” and “QB choosing not to run because he doesn’t want to get hit”. And based on the amount of hits Vick willingly takes throughout many games (and that he refuses to ever slide)… I think you easily give him the benefit of the doubt.
