Boxing Legend Joe Frazier is Seriously Ill With Liver Cancer
Unfortunately we have more sad news to report. According to the New York Post, boxing icon Joe Frazier has advanced stage liver cancer and doctors aren’t giving him much time to live:
“He’s in serious shape, we’re looking for a miracle,” said a source close to the former heavyweight champ. “They’re only giving him a short time to live. We need to have as many people as possible praying for Joe right now … Joe needs everyone’s prayers at this time.”
Terrible news for one of boxing’s all-time greats. My thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family.
The following video montage of Frazier is an absolute must watch:

That video really illustrates how much I would not like to be hit by Frazier…and how classless Ali was

Frazier: “I know how you feel, Homer. You lost your couch, I lost the heavyweight championship.”
Barney: “Hey Frazier, shut up!”
Frazier: “Barney, you’ve been riding my ass all night…”
Barney: “You wanna take this outside?”
Frazier: “Let’s do it…”
Frazier and Barney walk out of the bar, only to find Barney’s blood splattered against the door seconds after Frazier beat him up.

That being said, it’s sad the way his life has turned out. Ali both birthed and destroyed his career*
*He had a good career before the Ali fights, but those fights don’t compare to the Ali fights*
Frazier became kind of classless towards Ali after Ali came down with his disorder, but the shit talking and public humilation placed upon Frazier from Ali’s mouth was just as brutal.

Thanks. No doubt that was Joe Frazier’s greatest moment.

my dad died of the same thing in his 40s. i’ve spent my lifetime w/o him, cuz he and mom split when i was 7 and he died when i was in my 20s, so the main drag is that my kids never met him
and if you haven’t seen When we were Kings, see it. the doc of ali-frazier in africa; great soundtrack, great footage

E’ybody talking ’bout Joe Frazier…
And rightfully so. Dude was once the baddest man on the planet, with a face that looked like it was carved from onyx and impervious to any real harm. Sadly, time proved the latter assumption wrong.
Here’s hoping for a swift recovery and a maybe a meeting with Ali.

When we Were Kings was about Ali-Foreman. Great doc. I try to watch it once a year.

Wasn’t the Rumble in the Jungle against Foreman? I think you’re thinking of the Thrilla in Manilla.

When Ali was broke during his exile, Frazier used to give him money. Frazier also went out of his way to speak up for him to get his license back. Ali paid him back by making him out to be the White man’s champ and some type of Uncle Tom. Frazier has remained bitter about it, and even if I don’t agree with him, I definitely understand why he would be. Ali should have apologized to him long ago. The best way people can remember him when he passes is on his own merits and not on his relationship with Ali. He was the Heavyweight Champion of the world with the most vicious left hook in history. HE WON the fight of the century. He won a Gold medal for his country. He was the real life boxer from Philly who went from working in a meat freezer, developing his left hook, to become champion of the world. He was one of the greatest ever, who came out of the greatest era of the Heavyweight division.
