depends if you consider a bootleg a scramble. drew brees rarely scrambles and montana would’ve died if he went past the LOS on a regular basis.

i know the tall scramblers spence, but the point was that all short guys scramble, while the tall scramblers are exceptions. and were they scramblers by design or for survival? there’s a difference between being good at scrambling, when you have to, and using it as a weapon.

cunningham i can see by design, but it seems like staubach was making the best of bad situations.

Phillip Rivers is 6’5 but he releases like a dude who is 6’1. Although according to coop he is a horrible QB even though he had a lot of starts in college.

Fair enough. I think it’s more of a crapshoot to try to enhance your protection that way, but your point is well-taken nonetheless.

also depends on how well the QB can make OL adjustments and slide protections. i can tell you colt mccoy is HORRIBLE at this.
