Occupy Oakland Gets The Tear Gas Treatment
Early Tuesday, police fired tear gas into the Occupy Oakland crowd.Via HuffPo:
Protesters had stayed awake through the night, waiting for the expected raid. Officers and sheriff’s deputies from across the San Francisco Bay area surrounded the plaza in front of City Hall at around 5 a.m. and closed in. Eighty-five people were arrested, mostly on suspicion of misdemeanor unlawful assembly and illegal camping, police said.
Update: Occupy Oakland got their second taste of tear gas at 8pm local time. Here is the official statement from the Oakland PD.
You have to figure we’ll see more incidents like this as time goes on and crowds grow. This weekend, a marine got into it at the protesters in Albany. Earlier this month, Occupy Rome turned violent.

The folks across the street from New Orleans City Hall (Occupy NOLA) seem to have grown over the weekend. Things are nice and peaceful because it doesn’t seem to be in anyone’s interest to turn this into Oakland.

People here were arrested over the weekend for camping out. I had some crazy lady on my way home from work last week step out in front of my car with a sign. I wanted to run her over.
