Andrew Luck (Stanford) He’s the country’s most gifted quarterback and its most valuable. His numbers are top five no matter what type of constraints you put on him. Just the threat of him opens up running lanes. Stanford is averaging 49 points per game and their 7.5 yards per play against FBS opponents is bested only by Houston. He will probably be worth tanking a season to draft.

Trent Richardson (Alabama) Alabama uses him when they need him, not to pad his stats. That said, against FBS teams, Richardson has the highest yards per carry among backs with 100 or carries (6.64) and the most touchdowns (17). Runs around opponents, when he doesn’t feel like running through them. Looking forward to Nov. 5.

Robert Griffin III (Baylor) Against FBS opponents with winning records, RGIII has completed 73.5 percent of his passes, has a 13-2 touchdown to interception ratio and has averaged 11.6 yards per attempt. His passer rating against winning FBS (210.45) is 20 points higher than the next highest player.

Kellen Moore (Boise State) Does not have Luck’s skill-set, but mentally he’s as highly developed a college quarterback as one could reasonably ask for. Last two weeks: 83 percent completion rate, 10.5 yards per attempt, seven touchdowns to one pick.

Sammy Watkins (Clemson) The freshman’s numbers have dropped off the past two weeks in conference play – only 18 touches for 229 yards and 3 touchdowns the past two weeks.
