Michigan State Beat Wisconsin on a Hail Mary [Video]
Michigan State’s Hail Mary touchdown pass – it bounced off two people and wound up in the arms of Keith Nichol – was college football’s finest moment this season.
Wisconsin, which was eliminated from National title contention with the last-second loss – that’s why we need a playoff, people – led 14-0 but had a field goal and punt blocked, and the Spartans, playing at home, reeled off 23 straight points.
Wisconsin trailed 31-17 in the fourth quarter before two late TDs tied the game, setting up Kirk Cousins’ heroics. This finish was also great for Notre Dame fans – the Irish won’t be ripped as badly for their embarrassing 31-17 loss to USC.

They are eliminated if the rest of the top 10 remains undefeated. Which is not exactly a guarantee. If they were going to lose, this point in the season would be the time to do so.

A 2-loss team getting it’s third of the season shouldn’t have generated that much conversation anyway

Exactly. They’re now rooting for Sparty to lose another one, for TTech to do OU and OU to do Okie State, and for Stanford to drop one.
October 23rd, 2011 at 12:22 AM
Which leaves Boise State once again in position to screw every other team with one loss that plays tougher teams.
/ fuck the BCS
October 23rd, 2011 at 12:22 AM
Yeah, fuck these BCS bojacks who deprived Wisconsin of their rightful elimination to Kansas St. in the Music City Bowl, host of the 3rd round of the NCAA’s 96-team round robin.

Tech in danger of blowing a lead to OU. Huge momentum shift.
/pours another drink

Others have mostly covered it, so I’ll just say this might end up being a break for Wisconsin with the way polls react re: early vs late season losses. Although if TTech pulls this off against OU and they run the table it’s hard to see Wisky finishing above OU.

link?
and the ND loss shouldn’t have surprised anyone. like I said days ago, Barkley to Woods was gonna be too much.
October 23rd, 2011 at 12:35 AM
If there are any Tech fans around, they may want to start drinking now.
October 23rd, 2011 at 12:40 AM
Adam James is telling all his critics to lick his taint with how well he’s playing tonight.
October 23rd, 2011 at 12:40 AM
The link was the video…no game of that magnitude has been that exciting this season
October 23rd, 2011 at 12:42 AM
I’m sorry, but I can’t consider a Sparty win a fine moment.
October 23rd, 2011 at 12:42 AM
Huge for OU to hold Tech to only 3 points there.
October 23rd, 2011 at 12:58 AM
Fixed? There is 0.1% chance that worked, but the point is yes, I started drinking long ago.
October 23rd, 2011 at 12:59 AM
Yep gfunk. Gotta hand it to Tech. They’ve kept it together and stayed bold. That was a pretty bold playcall. I don’t have a dog in this fight, but I’m drinking with you.
October 23rd, 2011 at 1:00 AM
As witnessed by the fact that I used ‘bold’ in back to back sentences.
Anyway, I’m drinking because my team shit the bed in Mississippi.
October 23rd, 2011 at 1:04 AM
No shit. I’ve been expecting OU to lose at some point this season, but I thought it would be A&M, OSU, maybe Texas or Baylor. But not giving up 41 points to Tech, so props to them, especially in Norman.
Well. I had some hope left before that last play but now I’m feeling better. They should try to tackle people this time, and also not give up huge passing plays.
October 23rd, 2011 at 1:04 AM
This OU tech game has some legs.
October 23rd, 2011 at 1:06 AM
They’re still 5-2, right? I won’t pretend to know much about SMU but at least it looks like they’re making progress. I realize that doesn’t help at all with the game against Southern Miss, but at least when I think about SMU now I don’t automatically think of Craig James?
October 23rd, 2011 at 1:11 AM
Yeah gfunk, we’re 5-2 now. This was probably our hardest game of the season, though we have a difficult game against Tulsa next week (never know what they are going to bring to the table), and we play UH which is all offense and no defense in November. We need a solid 9 win year this year to keep progressing. Games like this though feel like we’ve taken a step backwards.
October 23rd, 2011 at 1:15 AM
All I’ve really seen from Tulsa is against both OU and OSU, which doesn’t make them look good. But still, like you say, it could go either way. On the one hand I expect Houston to beat everyone they play, but I also expect them to lose at some point, so who knows with them. Does C-USA have a conference game?
October 23rd, 2011 at 1:16 AM
Really would have rather seen a TD there, but OK. The dream (of not losing to Texas Tech at home) is not dead.
October 23rd, 2011 at 1:16 AM
Or maybe it is. Shit.
October 23rd, 2011 at 1:16 AM
And as a team long established in a non-AQ conference and needing national respect from fuckfaces embodied in people like coop, we have to keep winning. Being held to only a field goal doesn’t advance us as a legit team.
October 23rd, 2011 at 1:18 AM
Yes CUSA has a conference title game. UH had a weak schedule with CUSA-East this year so they are going to get lots of undeserved love. They are good, but they will not have faced defending champion UCF, ECU (which has an offense similar to theirs), or Southern Miss. Southern Miss is a legit power with great depth.
October 23rd, 2011 at 1:19 AM
OK I’m gone. But I’ll be around tomorrow for anyone (clown) who wants to rub it in. Shit game tonight.
October 23rd, 2011 at 1:19 AM
I think we’ll beat Tulsa, but it’s a road game and nothing is guaranteed. And Kinne is a talented QB.

OU loss paves the way for Boise State fans to be insufferable cunts the rest of the year.

//Those cunts are the cuntiest and will only get cuntier
October 23rd, 2011 at 1:22 AM
Shit I’m no Boise lover, but it’s time to recognize that they are legitimately good.
October 23rd, 2011 at 1:25 AM
Gfunk, you may want to keep the TV on. This is still happening.
October 23rd, 2011 at 1:27 AM

//Good team but not National Championship worthy one loss LSU or Alabama deserve more
October 23rd, 2011 at 1:28 AM
Nevermind, this is over.
October 23rd, 2011 at 1:29 AM
Soused, I wouldn’t mind seeing Boise go up against a defense like LSU. It would be pretty damn entertaining.

Sounds suspiciously like Boise talk….
/Lights torch, grabs pitch fork, assembles mob
October 23rd, 2011 at 1:39 AM
Soused, I used to be a major playoff partisan in these parts, but I’ve moved away from that viewpoint in the last year or so. But Boise meets the eyeball test and is just plain good. Without advocating any sort of alternative system, I’d love to see them have access to playing different SEC teams from one year to the next.
