Watch This Little Rugby Player Destroy This Big Rugby Player
That is 5’9″, 178-pound James Maloney (or Lance Hohaia? Same height, 11 pounds heavier.) absolutely leveling 6’4″, 242-pound Petero Civoniceva in a National Rugby League game. I mean… that is a great hit. Incredible technique. Maloney (or Hohaia) used his shoulder and leverage and boom! Can you imagine if Maloney (or Hohaia) tried to lead with his head? He would have folded like an accordion – a tiny, jacked accordion.

That’s a hit. All the NFL players who think you can’t play without leading with the head should watch this. I was taught how to tackle that way (leading with the shoulder). Worked fine. Quit your whining Mr. Harrison.

It’s actually Lance Hohaia who put the hit on.

I just don’t get the uncontested scrums. Why even bother?
October 13th, 2011 at 8:06 PM
They were contested, but they were becoming extremely tedious in the late 80s & early 90s with continual resets and penalties so refs started letting the half back feed the ball at the backrower’s feet rather than in the middle and encouraged teams not to push.
The fact that they’re uncontested is one of my Dad’s biggest disappointment’s though, he played professionally in the 70s as a hooker and hasn’t been able to teach me or my brother any any of the tricks of how to win a scrum.
Every now and then a team will put a push on and win one against the feed though.
They still have the scrum to take the forwards out of play and give the backs a chance to use the ball more.

lots of guys lead with their shoulder in the NFL. It’s called bad tackling.
