Tom Brady Cut His Hair? Tom Brady Cut His Hair!
The days of ponytails, headbands, Bieberness and the priceless starved hipster look are officially gone, at least for now, as Tom Brady has bid farewell to his highly publicized flowing locks. Pictured at right is Brady holding court at the podium early today sporting the new look.
Sadly, all we’re left with now are an abundance of colorful memories in our minds, our hearts, and on the internet.
Here’s an emotional look back:
The obvious bonus to sporting the follicle glory witnessed above was that it allowed Brady to be somewhat of a fashion chameleon. Tommy could go from a wine connoisseur aboard a 900-foot yacht, to a rad skater, to the prettiest bro on the field, to an actual woman, all with a few simple hair adjustments. But now? Not.

September 28th, 2011 at 1:34 PM
Not a big fan of the “he belived all the press clippings” version of Tom Brady, but after this year when he breaks Marino’s single-season pass record and Drew Brees’s single-season completion percentage record, he’ll own most of the significant single-season records and have 3 rings. Gotta give him credit.
September 28th, 2011 at 1:35 PM
He’s still not as good as the other QB in the AFC East who is 4-2 on the road in the playoffs.

I spent $150 on running shoes last year and thought that was all anyone would ever want to spend on running gear.

What the fuck! Ok after the shoes (100 bucks?) maybe 2 shirts, 2 pairs of shorts, 3 pairs of socks, that could come up to maybe $270. How much running shit do you need to total $729?

it’s called a sweatshirt. if you run in it, who cares if it’s clean?
September 28th, 2011 at 1:46 PM
I am glad that I don’t live in a colder area. Although I am that dude who runs in shorts anytime it is above 32 degrees.
September 28th, 2011 at 1:50 PM
Running shoes are a racket. A new pair of Vibrams is only $85.
September 28th, 2011 at 1:51 PM
@buckner- I have been noticing for a while now that I have been waking up with really stiff arches. My mileage really hasn’t gone up or down much, but I am wondering if it is my shoes.
September 28th, 2011 at 1:51 PM
The treadmill was $459.00
September 28th, 2011 at 1:54 PM
I just bought a pair of Brooks Adrenalines Monday. I’m hoping it will help some of my medial tibial rotation, and not give me the same leg pain I had most of last year. First non-neutral shoe I’ve had
As for Vibrams, I think they are crap. The fit just isn’t there, and now they keep adding features to the shoes. Eventually they’ll build them right back into a running shoe. I prefer the NB 890 for a lightweight shoe (and it comes in wide) or the Kinvara, if you don’t need a wide.
September 28th, 2011 at 1:54 PM
Now I will never see my Hollywood dream project, Ashton Kutcher IS Tomy Brady!: The Tom Brady Story, come to fruition.
Unless Kutcher gets a haircut, too.
September 28th, 2011 at 1:55 PM
I almost cut my hair, it happened just the other day.
It was gettin’ kinda long, I could’ve said it was in my way.
But I didn’t and I wonder why, I feel like letting my freak flag fly.
September 28th, 2011 at 1:56 PM
Ha!
I refuse to run on treadmills and hate exercising inside. I’ve spent my fair share of money (over the years) on outdoor running clothes. I don’t like weight or bulk, so a sweatshirt just wouldn’t cut it for me. I also sweat a lot (even in winter) which would just be awful in that.
That said… Academy sports clearance section, or even Target, can get you a lot of the way there for a lot cheaper.
September 28th, 2011 at 1:57 PM
About time he stopped trying to look gay.
September 28th, 2011 at 1:57 PM
If you need a guy to lose a road playoff-ish game, you trade for Bruce Chen. Francona talked about not wanting to make ‘desperate’ moves, but if the Sox win tonight… Bruce Chen starting would reek of desperation.
September 28th, 2011 at 1:58 PM

Hell, Crosby probably gets his liver replaced more often than he gets a haircut.

Their long athletic socks for running in the winter are nice. I actually am wearing some now because they are ‘compression-y’. Also got a nice running cap (for winter) there I really like
Now if only someone would make a lined long-sleeve shirt for men, with thumbholes, I’d be happy.
Also… for anyone who thinks running in coldweather is expensive, you’d be amazed at what a good pair of running gloves does. I have a very thin Nike pair, and a thicker Saucony pair, and if you have hat and gloves, a good long-sleeve shirt and light windbreaker-type jacket is plenty, well below freezing.
September 28th, 2011 at 2:08 PM

September 28th, 2011 at 2:12 PM
I cannot run for more than 17 minutes without my right knee starting to go crazy. It is so irritating, it’s unbelievable. I ran cross country in high school and ran throughout college and now I can’t do it anymore.
September 28th, 2011 at 2:13 PM
My running log goes back almost 3 years, and I have notes from all my winter runs, with what I wore and what the temp was… lots of 10-20 degree days in there.
Anyone know how to keep sunglasses from fogging up in cold weather? I will not run without sunglasses (even in rain… I have light lenses)?
September 28th, 2011 at 2:13 PM

have added these since i have a knee problem keeping me from jogging or rope-jumping

I never feel like I’m getting a workout on those things. I’ll be on it for 45 minutes and barely break a sweat. I think I’m doing it wrong.

well, of course you do.

Yeah, I really wish I got more out of him than a couple random Bible verses here and there
September 28th, 2011 at 2:15 PM
If you are coordinated!
Also: my wife (who just lowered her half-marathon PR to 1:46, with a bad race/tough course) SWEARS by spin class, as a way to really get in running shape and protect the knees. I haven’t tried it, but it’s helped her a lot.
September 28th, 2011 at 2:15 PM
This is really funny, in fact. Brady throws 4 interceptions, blows a game he should have won, and he cuts his hair. It’s just like a woman who divorces a guy who loved her hair long. She cuts it just to spite him. Clearly, Tom’s gone dyke.
September 28th, 2011 at 2:16 PM
Yeah, I really wish I got more out of him than a couple random Bible verses here and there
Funny, his last girlfriend said the same thing.
HEY OH!
September 28th, 2011 at 2:18 PM
To be fair, I keep an old-school hand-written running log, been keeping since Soph. of HS, so that’s…8 years of running. Kinda funny to look back on some of the runs, workouts, races I did back in the day, especially when I was fast. Also, it’s depressing.
September 28th, 2011 at 2:18 PM
OH SO THAT’S HOW IT IS.
/throws stack of papers in the air
September 28th, 2011 at 2:19 PM
I use google docs… way easy. I also was never fast, but still look back to healthy days and wonder if I’ll ever get back to that.
September 28th, 2011 at 2:20 PM
It’s great for some, not for all. Some people’s legs just can’t handle the pounding over time, that works out best. Hell, even some fast runners can’t handle it and have to use the pool or bike.

Elliptical machine >>>>>>>> treadmill
I never feel like I’m getting a workout on those things. I’ll be on it for 45 minutes and barely break a sweat. I think I’m doing it wrong.
I go on one of the elliptical machines that you can adjust the height and toughness of the pedals.
Also: my wife (who just lowered her half-marathon PR to 1:46, with a bad race/tough course) SWEARS by spin class, as a way to really get in running shape and protect the knees. I haven’t tried it, but it’s helped her a lot.
I’ve been meaning to try spinning at some point. I like to save my knees for hurling season every spring (tendinitis), so I don’t want to strain them. And doesn’t the heartrate get a good workout as well?
September 28th, 2011 at 2:23 PM
I run about 10 halves a year (PR of 1:32) and generally the larger marathons in the NW (Seattle, Portland, Eugene). I average about 50 miles a week and you’d be stunned how much all that hippie cross-training helps. Yoga. Pilates.
September 28th, 2011 at 2:23 PM
Yeah, I apparently can’t take the pounding anymore. The doctor thinks it might be trouble with my IT band because the pain is in the outside part of my right knee, but I’m suspicious it’s related to cartilage, not the IT band. I hope he’s right, however.
September 28th, 2011 at 2:27 PM
Yeah thats more than either of our knees could handle. If I could run 5 halves a year, I’m fairly certain I could get below 1:40, but right now, anything above 20 miles a week really messes me up.
September 28th, 2011 at 2:27 PM
Same here. Have had issues with right knee tendonitis my entire running life. Also with my left ankle having been severly sprained a few times the past few years, I can’t win.
September 28th, 2011 at 2:28 PM
You are one of the Philly-area people, right? I know some people that do hurling around there.
September 28th, 2011 at 2:30 PM
Yeah it’s good CV exercise. I’m pretty lucky though, my RHR is pretty low… right now it’s at 45, and that is after some rare (for me) caffeine with lunch.
September 28th, 2011 at 2:30 PM
treadmill great for walking, sucky for running. Even my fat ass can handle the elliptical better than a treadmill.

September 28th, 2011 at 2:32 PM
I’ve been pretty lucky, since probably Soph. year, I’ll guess I’ve averaged 75 miles per week? Roughly, as high as 110 depending on the week, but never any problems or injuries.

Elliptical machine >>>>>>>> treadmill
As a former runner with ravaged knees, I can attest to theis. My knees are actually pain-free after half an hour or more on the elliptical and usually feel great for hours afterward. I think the motion does something to loosen them up.
September 28th, 2011 at 2:38 PM
I’ve been wanting to get into a yoga class for a while, I heard a lot of it is having the right instructor, which I can’t seem to find. I also heard that it is all chicks, which I am cool with.
September 28th, 2011 at 2:39 PM
That is amazing to me. I’ve never been able to run 20 miles a week. I think some hip/core work would help, but every time I run more than twice a week or high mileage I get an injury.
I also have pretty severe arthritis in my right ankle (an anterior tibiotalar bone spur) so I dont have complete flexibility, meaning I cant really stretch my calf, and one leg compensates for the other a lot.
September 28th, 2011 at 2:42 PM
There’s this awesome yoga place right around the corner from my store here that just started a yoga for runners class. Clearly doing that.
September 28th, 2011 at 4:41 PM
I was a runner going back to middle school. Went to college, got fat, hit about 38 years old and weighed 220 pounds. Moved out west and told myself that I was either going to die young or change my life. The first year, 2008, I tried to run a mile a day. Failed, finished with about 330 miles. The second year, 2009, I was going to run 1,000 miles. Failed, finished with about 800 miles. Last year, 2010, I was just going to try to get to 1,000 again, but I finished with 1,752 (4.8 per day). That was the year I started running distance races again. This year I set a goal of 2,500 (6.8ish per day) and thinking I’d be happy if I got to 2,000. As of yesterday I’m at 1,894 (a little over 7.0) and on pace to get over 2,500. Ran 10 halves last year, probably will get 10-12 this year. Ran one marathon last year and will hit 3-5 this year. Most importantly I feel good, and have dropped from 220 down to 175. Changed my whole life.
