This is where I rage against my mortgage “officer” (?) who, before getting fired halfway through the process, filed paperwork incorrectly and essentially left us scrambling, potentially moving a closing date that is scheduled for tomorrow, and possibly with very different loan terms. No, but I did miss Terra Nova. Anyone want to tell me how they explain away the paradox problem?
September 27th, 2011 at 9:10 AM
Thank you. Good luck to you as well. I feel like I’ve do something wrong or shady the way they ask for documentation.
September 27th, 2011 at 9:11 AM
No, and I’m not sure what that is. I did, however, watch “Terra Nova” and was left mostly underwhelmed. The main family is poorly written, which makes for unreal interpersonal scenarios. The reveal of another colony so quickly ruins any sort of faceless tension that the writers could’ve played on. And the leader guy already letting the convicted felon in his inner circle minutes after saying “I don’t know in the future I can trust” is quite a letdown.
September 27th, 2011 at 9:11 AM
DVR’d. But it looks horrible. Still, I’d watch Rachel Bilson talking about shoveling manure.
September 27th, 2011 at 9:13 AM
Jesus, man.
September 27th, 2011 at 9:13 AM
Apparently they traveled back in time to another timestream, not the same one. So, in this timestream, the one in which they never existed, they CAN change the future. And I believe that’s part of what the writers will play on. Because playing with this timestream won’t do anything to the one that humanity as they knew it (and we knew it) existed.

Yes and yes. But when a guy is clearly caught on camera, he has to accept any consequences.
September 27th, 2011 at 9:15 AM
Agreed which is said since they obviously invested so heavily into what were really good special effects, especially for a TV show.

Flipped back and forth between the Rays and MNF.
September 27th, 2011 at 9:15 AM
Its a load. They want proof we have the money for closing and we give that to them. Then they want to see the bank statements of how the money got there. I wanted to give them a cashiers check for the full amount so they can go get fucked and to leave us alone. its all a part of the process though
September 27th, 2011 at 9:16 AM
Neither Francona nor Theo is getting fired in Boston. It’s stupid to even suggest.
September 27th, 2011 at 9:16 AM
Should have seen that one coming. Guess that explains why they traveled back to the age of the dinosaurs
September 27th, 2011 at 9:17 AM
It was alright. Less Caviezel, more Emerson. The pilot moved very fast (most of them do), but there is a lot of room for potential. I’ll stay tuned.
September 27th, 2011 at 9:18 AM
Liked Terra Nova.
A little unbelievable in some parts and dialogue was meh, but it wasn’t bad. Hopefully it makes a full season. Or Fox moves Fringe to Mondays.
September 27th, 2011 at 9:19 AM
This was my main complaint. They sort of jumped right into things.
September 27th, 2011 at 9:19 AM
I believe there was some hole in the fabric of time “22 years ago” before 2149, and they weren’t sure where it went. So they sent this digital capsule back, and it collected all this data and sent it back to them, providing the necessary information to begin time travel. Said capsule is a monument in the colony and is explained by the cute daughter (she’s 18 in real life so I can say that).
Best part of the episode: Allison Miller soaking wet in a bikini.
September 27th, 2011 at 9:19 AM
Yeah, I get that they need proof. My frustration arose as a result of their inability to keep straight the first set of documentation I gave them. “New” questions came up regarding items we’d already given them because of the first guy’s ineptitude. Apparently no one was looking at his work.
/won’t be buying another house
September 27th, 2011 at 9:21 AM
Fox ordered 13 episodes of “Terra Nova.” They’re invested. Big time. “Fringe” will forever be stuck on Fridays, and will likely end after this season.
/sad face
It’s the flaw of network TV. They want it fast like the half-hour comedies, and you can’t do that with serialized hour-long dramas unless they’re “case of the week” like CSI or Law and Order.
September 27th, 2011 at 9:21 AM
Watched this yesterday, I enjoyed it a lot. Great cast. I’m not sure how you can guess how a season is going to go with the type of show it is though.

It was standard and sets up a lot. Lincoln Lee is going to be the “voice of the fans” for a while, asking tons of questions about the combined universes, etc. It’ll be awesome. And seeing Walter exist without Peter to tether him to society is quite emotional TV. He’s like a really fucking smart child. So full of ideas, yet completely insecure and kinda naive.

I just saw you folks talking about Tito at the top. I can’t believe that there are Red Sox fans out there actually calling for his job. There’s not a lot of them, of course, but still. The guy brought two world titles to a baseball city with nothing but failure for nearly a century.
Give me a break. It was like people calling for Girardi’s head because he didn’t make the playoffs his first year.

September 27th, 2011 at 9:51 AM
It’s pretty ridiculous. They were talking about it on the radio this morning as if it was a foregone conclusion (“When Francona gets fired”). This is on the players, first and foremost, and Theo second. Francona didn’t sign Crawford, Lackey, and Dice-K and let Beltre and Martinez walk. And he definitely didn’t trade Bronson Arroyo for Wily Mo Fucking Pena.
SC – Have fun when Theo is making “big free-agent splashes!” for the Cubs. No way he sticks around here another year.
September 27th, 2011 at 9:55 AM
way to overlook everything else, like the player development he’s done. namely Ellsbury, Pedroia and the pitching with Lester and Buchholz.
free agents are just cash, and for a money rich club like the red sox that’s all it is. If you really wanted Beltre and Martinez to stick around then you can forget about Adrian Gonzalez.

TBL is slipping.. this was a ways down the page…
Couple of quality comments from after the purge in that post as well.
September 27th, 2011 at 9:56 AM
DO NOT WANT. There’s a large segment of the Cubs fanbase that is gaga for this guy. It’s the splashes that concern me. He’s smart, there’s no getting past there. But he does like to outbid himself or simply overbid to avoid losing out to the Yankees.
I look at the Red Sox farm system and while they have developed some homegrown talent in Youkilis and Pedroia… they’ve also traded away big pieces of their farm system. It’s easier to sign FAs in Boston because players actively want to go there. Players shy away from the Cubs because of the stretch of futility and the whole day game factor.
The Cubs need a guy that will grow his own players and fill the gaps with the occasional free agent. I’d love Rick Hahn to come on up from the southside. Beane… we’ll see. Would rather have him the Theo, I know that much.
September 27th, 2011 at 9:57 AM
I don’t live in New England any more. Why is Theo leaving? Is there friction between him and ownership? He’s screwed up royally lately, but I still wouldn’t wanna’ see him leave.
September 27th, 2011 at 9:58 AM
Yeah if they get rid of either of those guys to ‘shake things up’, it should be Theo. But in reality it should be Curt Young, nothing against him but the pitching staff is in full meltdown.
September 27th, 2011 at 9:59 AM
Erin Andrews looked pretty good on Kimmel last night
September 27th, 2011 at 9:59 AM
Players shy away from the Cubs because of the stretch of futility and the whole day game factor.
I think you’re over stating this a bit. Especially the former. The day game thing I can kind of see… but almost every baseball player says Chicago is one of their favorite cities. I don’t think they’d go somewhere else if the money is there. As for the “futility” thing… they don’t look at it that way… they’d be thinking they’ll be ones to turn it around a la the 2004 Red Sox.
September 27th, 2011 at 10:00 AM
Letting Beltre go and getting Gonzalez was a wash for this year. I don’t know where V-Mart plays if he stays. He only caught 25 games for the Tigers, and it’s not like he would be DH-ing over Papi or playing first over Youkilis.
September 27th, 2011 at 10:00 AM
Holy shitballs, that is a fine woman.
September 27th, 2011 at 10:01 AM
he’s not leaving. ESPN suggested he would be courted by the Cubs and now some fans think he should get fired.
September 27th, 2011 at 10:01 AM
Yes, because they traded away Rizzo who can’t hit a fastball and Casey Kelly who won’t become anything greater than a 3 pitcher for SD and they got one of the top 5 1B in baseball. Theo knows whats up.
September 27th, 2011 at 10:01 AM

So I guess she’s done covering up post “peep-hole gate” eh? Damn. Not much to that skirt.
September 27th, 2011 at 10:02 AM
Not overlooked at all. Admittedly, he’s done great in player development. He’s got a knack for that, without a doubt. Which, when I think about it, seems crazy that he’s better at evaluating prospects than established Major League players. Just because Boston has the money to burn on bad FA signings doesn’t make it excusable.
September 27th, 2011 at 10:02 AM
The V-Mart trade was a blackmark on Theo’s record. At the time, most of us loved it because it brought in what was thought to be the next switch-hitting catcher in Boston for a good stretch. As Nick said though, he barely caught in Detroit this year.
Masterson seems to be a pretty solid starting pitcher too. I think they gave up a couple other pieces in that deal as well.
September 27th, 2011 at 10:02 AM
I watched the first hour of Terra Nova but was too tired to finish the rest. I liked what I’ve seen so far and will keep recording it. I also watched Pan Am last night and liked it enough to watch the second episode.

September 27th, 2011 at 10:04 AM
There’s rumored “friction” between Theo and Francona. Probably not true, but hoping it is.
September 27th, 2011 at 10:04 AM
Carl Crawford wasn’t a shitty signing either. Guy had a bad year. He’ll be fine next season. Just like Dunn will be fine for the White Sox.
It’s not Crawford’s fault the fan base has the patience of a 2 year old.
September 27th, 2011 at 10:04 AM
V-Mart did sprain his knee, so Leyland avoided playing him behind the plate for much of the final four months. But, still, it’s unsure how much he would’ve caught/played DH for Boston.
September 27th, 2011 at 10:05 AM
Does anyone know if Bartman is interviewed at all in the ESPN 30/30 doc “Catching Hell” tonight? I watched a preview, it looks pretty good.
The more I think about that.. the more ridiculous the whole thing seems. He reached for a foul ball and now’s he’s got a special on ESPN. I feel terrible for the guy. I would have done the exact same thing. Stay classy, Chicago.

you can’t win with just homegrown talent and no free agent signings, and vice versa.
bad signings won’t cripple the red sox, like other teams, so I’m not sure why people really care all that much.
if the owners and theo are on the same page in terms of long term and short terms plans there won’t be a change in GM.

No chance. None. If you’re “shaking things up,” you fire the manager. They’re easily replaceable.

So I guess she’s done covering up post “peep-hole gate” eh? Damn. Not much to that skirt.
You’re right. She should be in a burqa.
No.. but she did play the victim card pretty hard… and now she’s back to showing off her goods. Seems odd.

Thx.
I assume he’s living in the mountains like some hermit still, probably looks like the unabomber.

The answer is within your comment : “she is smoking hot.”

The Crawford deal was not smart. His greatest attribute has been defense and running the bases. You can’t give a guy that much money unless he’s also driving in 100+ runs and hitting 30 HRs and 30+ doubles. Crawford doesn’t do that.
September 27th, 2011 at 10:12 AM
excluding this season, crawford killed the red sox whenever he played against them (i know, some are going to say he killed them while playing for them).
what’s the value in taking away that threat from another team while paying for his production on your team this season and the following years on the contract?
September 27th, 2011 at 10:13 AM
cmon, that’s retarded. she doesn’t show off her goods, she’s not on tv anymore…simple as that.
September 27th, 2011 at 10:14 AM
Good for her playing the victim card because, you know, she was a victim. What should she have done instead? She took a shitty situation and used it to her own benefit. She should be applauded for that.
September 27th, 2011 at 10:15 AM
She did probably what just about any person would. Let the law take care of him. In her situation, being a familiar face, she used it to become an advocate. Nothing wrong with that.
She shouldn’t let some perverted creepy asshole keep her from being who she is. And who she is is a beautiful woman with celebrity and style.
The director said he lives “around the Chicago area” and that he sent a copy of the documentary to Bartman.

The Rays think this is bullshit.

Good for her playing the victim card because, you know, she was a victim.
Or was she? CONSPIRACY!!!!

And huge bags of fat

Yeah, I wondered what they were thinking with the small left field area at Fenway pretty much negating his range/speed for 81 games a year.

I’d bet her boobies are larger than most of us think.

So you’re the one guy who hasn’t seen them?
September 27th, 2011 at 10:29 AM
I’ve heard he moved back in with his parents. My former boss went to high school with Bartman and said the guy was a total asshole and completely deserved everything that was happening to him.
September 27th, 2011 at 10:36 AM
I’m a horny and open fella, but when it comes to illicit shit like that, I get all weirded out.
September 27th, 2011 at 10:37 AM
I dressed up like him for Halloween just a few weeks after it happened and was seriously threatened and had beer thrown at me at a party. I guess he was an asshole. Ha.
