After Three Games, Baylor’s Robert Griffin III Has More Touchdowns Than Incompletions
Baylor beat Rice 56-31 last night as the Bears moved to 3-0 on the season. Baylor started the season with an upset of TCU in an instant-classic shootout. Robert Griffin III, Baylor’s Heisman-hopeful quarterback completed 21 of 27 passes for 359 yards and 5 touchdowns. It was an outstanding performance that helped propelled Baylor into the top 25.
The next week, Griffin III completed 20 of 22 passes and threw for three scores. Last night Griffin completed 29 of 33 passes and threw for five more scores. Those numbers add up to 70 completions on 82 attempts and 13 touchdown passes. He’s thrown for 962 yards and has yet to get picked off. He has more touchdowns than incompletions.
He leads college football in completion percentage and QB rating. He’s second in yards per attempt (11.7) and tied for third in touchdown passes. Those are pretty good numbers. Even in college football, where early season numbers are built on thrashing smaller schools, these are insane stats. Griffin’s numbers might stay this awesome until the middle of October when Baylor has Texas A&M on the 15th and Oklahoma State on the 29th.
