HuskerDawg is correct – removing those three plays that led to scores would give UGA more points, and thus the victory. UGA in fact was about 21 plays away from an undefeated season last year.

Of course Killer Kelly’s first week of 2011 wasn’t a fluke, when you look at his overall record in South Bend:
8 wins
7 losses
1 dead intern
So he’s below even Faust and Willingham, with Kuharich coming up in his rear-view mirror. And none of them had any dead interns.

Did you even watch the UGA game, Duffy. Outside of the fake punt the team was extremely well prepared. This loss had very little to do with coaching. Aaron Murray makes two boneheaded plays and a kicker misses an easy FG. Those 3 plays are the difference between a 45-42 loss and a 42-24 blowout win.

So, yeah, aside from the HORRIBLE, PREVENTABLE mistakes they made. They were perfect.

That’s a lot of press for ND/Mich. Can we expect the same when two other unranked teams play a barn burner? Do we hang on every play, every game of these two “storied” team because we expect them to be good now or because we expect them to be good in the future?

I think it was more a byproduct of the gimmicky uniforms.

True — just a painful time in my life. Though you could probably make the case that he saw the big-time recruit (Simms) as someone who couldn’t be surpassed by the under-sized ginger (Applewhite), despite the mountains of evidence suggesting otherwise.

This is his biggest fault — sticks too long (be it based on some notion of loyalty or that his staff couldn’t have missed in talent evaluation) with guys who are inferior players to those on the bench. Could say the same thing about his attachment to coordinators (see: Greg Davis).
