The Saints cut Stinchcomb to save $$ and moved backup Strief into his place. They cut Goodwin at center at save $$. They may have saved their way out of the playoffs.

last I heard, all 3 of Newman, Jenkins and Smith were coming to the game, and being game time decisions. Jenkins is more probable than the other two. Smith is almost certainly out. And Newman will hurt himself on the first play he plays, if he plays.

Parnell is starting because they have no other OTs on the roster besides Free and Smith. Derrick Dockery may play if he gets whooped on, or Arkin. It’s going to be a long night with Scandrick and Alan Ball at the corners.

It must be really, really sad to miss Max Jean-Gilles.

You’d have to ask his mom or girlfriend or something, because as a football fan that’s not possible.

what if your starting right tackle for opening day is a 2nd year player you stole from somebody else’s practice squad, and he has only 1 year of college football experience, and that was as a defensive tackle?

it’s funny because he used to play Arena 2. And he was terrible with the Colts.

But if he chokes, you have a life saving fireman on hand to get his tongue out of his throat. It must be really, really sad to miss Max Jean-Gilles.

I’m hoping that they get better as the season moves along, as Reid’s teams tend to do. Lots of variables, not just the players. New O-line coach, new D-coordinator. Take all of that, plus the shortened off-season, it could be a slow start.

And a player who was just signed two weeks ago that the Colts cut, actually.

Also, While their pass defense (both coverage wise and pass rush) looks top notch, their LB corp is pretty weak. Teams are going to keep Vick & co off the field by running it right at their front 7.

I’m quietly hopeful about the linebackers. We’ll see. I’m not so concerned that a below league average group there is going to keep them from being an elite team, though.

It isn’t going to keep New Orleans from it.

After Antonio Crogollum intercepts a Romo pass, on the return he will be pushed into the sidelines right into Sanchez’s legs, and both players will tear their ACL’s. So we lose that game. Get by Jacksonville and Oakland because they are even worse. Then we don’t win again until Buffalo. We lose to New England again, except at home this time. I imagine Revis will have his ankle rolled on about this time too. By now everyone on the team hates each other and everyone is in ‘shut it down’ mode and doesn’t even try. So MAYBE we beat Washington the rest of the way.

Also, Blackmon is going to be awesome and I hope the Jets somehow can trade up and get him. Look at the 2 TD catches last night vs Arizona. Both over the shoulder, and what’s sick is how nonchalant he makes them look, while getting a foot down. Randy Moss is the only WR I can think of that makes it look that..plain? Boring?

Ahem. Just to stick to the pass rusher topic, I’m pretty excited to see what adding Babin (and bringing Washburn with him) does for the Eagles to go along with Trent Cole. Juqua Parker is best if he’s only playing half the snaps, and the Eagles may have a nice DE rotation now.

earlier, when they did that play action, Green Bay jumped every short coverage and forced Brees’s second step to be wrong.
But like CJ said earlier, it was very cool to see so many Packers sell out high, because they were so sure that line was getting owned by Pickett and Raji down low.

Why take the ball out of his hands TWICE and run your rookie right at Raji? When I saw the formation on the last play, i was assuming it was going to be a naked bootleg. It should have been. It was wide open.
