College Quidditch Conquers the Midwest
All, College Athletics, Jerks, Video September 7th. 2011, 6:10pm
Quidditch began at prissy Northeastern schools. Like other irritating fads and football conferences, it has expanded its footprint, now encompassing the nation’s moderate achievers in the Midwest. Here are some highlights from one of Michigan State’s epic triumphs. Fear not, there were no riots. It’s like “ultimate,” for people who need that extra bit of douchey irony. If you’re wagering on the number of unnecessary headbands and bandanas, take the over. For fairness and balance.

Yeah. I sent the following to CRM a month or so ago. You really need to see these people.
September 7th, 2011 at 6:13 PM
at least they don’t play it at night. That would be classless.
September 7th, 2011 at 6:15 PM
The fuck is a quidditch
September 7th, 2011 at 6:21 PM
No. I refuse to accept this.
September 7th, 2011 at 6:22 PM
I could only watch about 20 seconds of that video. Wow.
September 7th, 2011 at 6:27 PM
You fellas have a female audience. Might be time to bust out the coats and ties
September 7th, 2011 at 6:27 PM
The fuck is a quidditch
It is the game the vampire, werewolf and sasquatch play in the Twilight books.
September 7th, 2011 at 6:28 PM
I call shenanigans. I saw a McGill University jersey in that link posted by SouvenirCity, so obviously this is some sort of Sidd Finch-type hoax being perpetrated by our limp-wristed neighbors to the north.
September 7th, 2011 at 6:28 PM
Wasn’t this already a post, or a link in the roundup, from weeks ago?
September 7th, 2011 at 6:30 PM

Who the hell is this chick?
/Looks at her twitter picture.
How the fuck do you tie a tie again? Where’s my jacket? Oh, the dog is sleeping on it again.
//pours some bong water over the “spots” on the jacket.
///Gets dressed.
Fuck, I look like a hobo.

You, sir, are obviously misinformed. It is the game the vampire, the werewolf and the ghost play in Being Human.
September 7th, 2011 at 6:31 PM
At least someone reads the comments.
September 7th, 2011 at 6:32 PM

Yeah, yeah, yeah. That one. The chucacabara and, um, batwoman is in that also. Maybe even sharkoctopus.
September 7th, 2011 at 6:32 PM
Who the hell is this chick?

Don’t worry, I’m sure she’ll be gracing the Roundup soon enough.
September 7th, 2011 at 6:33 PM
Still haven’t solved the problem that the snitch being worth 150 points makes, in almost every circumstance, the rest of the game entirely irrelevant. Also the human snitch needs to be way more mobile and shifty. Should happen when it moves to the SEC.
September 7th, 2011 at 6:34 PM
Daytime quidditch is immutable.

Ritty’s got first dibs
September 7th, 2011 at 6:35 PM
If anyone ever asks you to play the only correct response is “No, I have sex with girls”
September 7th, 2011 at 6:35 PM
Yeah, yeah, yeah. That one. The chucacabara and, um, batwoman is in that also. Maybe even sharkoctopus.
Are you implying that Debbie Gibson and Tiffany play Quidditch in bad SyFy movies*? ‘Cause I might watch that. If they replaced Debbie Gibson and Tiffany with Kate Upton and Rona Gonzales.
* Yes, I know “bad SyFy movies” is an oxymoron.

Oh, my. I bet all this is correct.
September 7th, 2011 at 6:37 PM
In and of itself, this may be the most embarrassing sentence ever uttered by a TBL writer.
September 7th, 2011 at 6:37 PM

Give it 20 years for the remake. Shit, what I’m talking about. SyFy will be busting out the remakes this winter.

unless the NFL makes them play night games. Ruining tradition and all that.

I really wish the ghost writers that helped with books 3-7 had gotten there and made this “game” more sensible. If the snitch is worth 150, adn the only way to end the stupid game, WTF are you doing devoting half your team to trading 10 point goals?

Yes, I know “bad SyFy movies” is a redundancy.
Oops. Fixed.
Okay, I say let’s leave off the Quidditch criticism. The computer science majors need something to fill their time until they blossom into manhood.

Gary Kubiak sees nothing wrong with this strategy.
If I (as a stickler for logic and concreteness, even when a figure of speech is used as a joke) have no problem with the saying, not sure how SG can start in…

Harry Potter books are good. Promise. There’s no shame in reading them, except the second one.
I just have the one kid, and he doesn’t watch true blood. I watch true blood, but it’s awful.
September 7th, 2011 at 6:45 PM
I love how Duffy is more stoked on quidditch than college football…I think Duffy could have been an All-Conference quidditch player
September 7th, 2011 at 6:45 PM
I was given the first five HPs to read when I got my wisdom teeth out, so I read the last two. Never was too interested in the movies, and damned if I could follow the plot then, or remember it now.
September 7th, 2011 at 6:47 PM
I was informed that this was in Twilight, and a Sasquatch was involved.
I’ve already formed my opinion.
September 7th, 2011 at 6:48 PM
True Blood is horrible. I still watch though. Until Jessica’s tits are set free I will not go quietly into the night. I will not abandon without a fight.

Hey, they show tits on other programs, too, including those that don’t feature horrible faux accents.

McCormick used to work for ESPN. She’s also been linked to Mark Sanchez. She was too old for him.
C’mon guys. There was a post on this years ago.
September 7th, 2011 at 6:56 PM
Actually, I enjoyed the Harry Potter series. Although the best installment occurred on SNL, featuring Lohan as Hermione bustin’ out of her bra. To quote:
Fred: “Well, if you’ll excuse us, we’re off to go beat a couple of bludgers.”
Harry: “Ah, going to play some Quidditch?”
Fred and George: “No.”

I thought her name rang a bell. I remember that post from back in the day when I was a lurker and had never been called a prick before.

Kate Upton is using Twitter to its fullest potential right now.
September 7th, 2011 at 7:00 PM
Some good comments in that post. Spencer had a few gems. What’s this about TBL and Dirt getting chippy?

You’re on twitter now, yes? Just search @Kateupton. Boom. I couldn’t tell you how to link a tweet from my phone, which is the only place I access twitter… I’m assuming it’s the same for most people.
