I Guess FOX Sports Agreed The Video Making Fun Of Asian USC Students Was A Bad Idea

Earlier today I posted the video of FOX Sports’ Bob Oschack asking students at USC to welcome Colorado and Utah to the Pac-12. The joke? All the students were from USC’s fairly large Asian portion of the student body, spoke broken English and weren’t familiar with college football. At the time, I thought it might be misconstrued as a little bit racist. Well, it looks like FOX Sports agreed because the original video has disappeared from YouTube and FOXSports.com. Luckily, Media Matters grabbed a copy.
Don’t worry, I’m sure Oschack would do a great job being interviewed by an Asian media outlet.

There’s a difference between making a video in a satirical manner with an Asian friend, and this trash. Not surprised that this came from Fox.

Chinese kids pay for the rest of the student body to go to football games in the Pac 10 (12) – go to Cal (as I did), or USC or UCLA or Leland Stanford Junior College and you’ll find a bunch of socially separate kids whose parents pay for all kinds of shit on campus. If homeboy in the video tries to say fight on and manages to club out “fighting”, who cares, if he pays for Matt Barkley to throw the football. Just sayin’.
NB: Anti-Asian bias in this video < Anti-Asian bias in the Greek system on any West Coast campus.

The fact that this is being presented by perhaps the biggest looking nerd to ever appear on camera makes this a fascinating case study in denial and self-loathing.

As a USC parent this sickens me. If that were my student on the video I would have a lawyer after FOX in no time.
