Darren Wolfson of ESPN’s Twin Cities affiliate was tipped off to Dustin Byfuglien’s name appearing on the the Hennepin County jail roster last night. The 26 year old Winnipeg Jet alternate captain was apparently taken to jail after he refused to take a BWI (Boating While Intoxicated) field test. Byfuglien was brought in at 11:13 local time and released a few hours later.

Wolfson was also told that Byfuglien was a hearty 286 pounds when he was picked up – some 40 pounds over his playing weight. Byfuglien won the Stanley Cup with the Blackhawks in 2010 before being traded to Atlanta in the offseason. The Thrasher/Jets signed the All-Star defesenman to a 5-year $26 million contract extension this season.
