Kevin Durant and LeBron James Put on Another Summer Dunking Exhibition, This Time in Baltimore
Can it be possible that these summer dunk-a-thons are … getting old? Last night, reading online updates of the latest summer league game featuring NBA All-Stars, I was fascinated by the action, and bemoaned the fact it wasn’t televised. This morning I woke up and saw the highlights and … impressive, but not mind-blowingly incredible, like the time Kevin Durant parachuted into Rucker Park and closed the joint down.
Perhaps that Durant performance was more about the unexpected nature of it – ESPN wasn’t providing updates, the media wasn’t all over it – and everyone woke up to this insane, jaw-dropping performance.
Tuesday’s Melo League vs. Goodman League game featured plenty of spectacular highlights – I’m partial to the Durant cross-up and dunk over LeBron at the 1:25 mark – and the video will easily go viral and top 1 million views by the end of the weekend. But you know what it left me salivating for? The NBA.
And I stand by my statement earlier this month: Kevin Durant has owned this summer and I think he’ll be the league’s best player … whenever the NBA lockout ends.

Couldn’t have been that exciting – there wasn’t anyone with a microphone walking around on the court screaming nonsense and nobody ran onto the court to bump chests with the players.

Maybe if Lebron, Wade, and Dwight head to China permanently.

See, if he actually parachuted in, I might’ve watched the video and be the slightest bit interested.

Lebron James can dunk it? Wow. That’s truly amazing when you think about how high that goal is off the ground. That means he can get the ball a full 10 feet into the sky.
My interest in even through-er the roof now.

Dwight is better than Durant? hmm

he carried it on two separate occasions, with one dribble in between. So at least they’re using the NBA rules, right?

If this was April, when the season really starts, I’d be salivating for some NBA. As it stands, training camp wouldn’t have even started yet.

if you can access the facebook, here’s some good flood carnage from Vermont. As a bonus, the lamentations of actual Vermonters are included below. Turns out God is really popular after floods, but he gets a pass for having caused said flood.

Wait, LBJ put on a show in a game that doesn’t mean anything? You’re kidding????

So limited man defense plus no help defense equals a lot of dunks? Who’d a thunk it. Somewhat entertaining, but nothing you can’t find a million streetballers doing on youtube. Real NBA needs to come back.

I haven’t been to a good summer league game in a minute. I know the energy there at the good Morgan State had to be electric. Of course this doesn’t beat the picture of some fair headed boy shooting the ball all day and night at a homemade hoop hung over the barn door, dreaming of one day being in position to run the picket fence play……… I guess I’ll have to settle for good summer league basketball instead.

I think durant is the only player in the NBA who plays in these games and actually takes them seriously
