Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal Saw Mamma Mia!
Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal are both in New York for the US Open next week. The odds of them choosing the same nighttime activity had to be pretty low. Yet somehow, they both ended up backstage at Mamma Mia! on Tuesday night. The US Open starts on Monday when we’ll see just how musical theater comes into play. Andy Roddick and Roger Federer have been doing nothing but sitting front row for The Book of Mormon and practicing tennis all week. These girls better be ready for the fight of their lives!

What the heck are those ladies wearing?
August 25th, 2011 at 6:42 PM
Novak is wearing white pants and an untucked dress shirt. Nadal is wearing jeans and a tucked in dress shirt with snazzy belt.

Granderson just hit the Yankees’ 3rd grand slam of the day against the A’s. Just make it stop, already.

St Bear, it kinda sums up where my head is now. Spent 26 years in the military, and in many ways was defined by my rank and/or duty title. Now, I am semi-retired and learning to blend in my surroundings.

Well, he’s an islander. I was impressed by his restraint after the earthquake.
August 25th, 2011 at 7:27 PM
Wow guys. Vin Scully still calls all home games and NL West away games.

If you’d wake up before 1:30 your time, we’d know this.

I woke up at 10 am my time, thank you very much. I just wasn’t able to use the computer.

Philly rookie OL Danny Watkins is getting beaten pretty badly by the Browns (at least he was in the first quarter).
This Eagles’ OL will make or break the season. I wouldn’t place a SB wager on Philly. Packers, Saints are the best in the NFC

not at all. feels like whenever there is enormous hype about a hurricane, it never happens. THAT’S A GOOD THING.
i have relatives in florida, obviously, i don’t want the hurricane to hit.
August 25th, 2011 at 8:25 PM
HR, Big Papi.
August 25th, 2011 at 8:27 PM
TBL-the signs are similar to Katrina-plenty of warning for residents to get out of their coastal homes. This is going to happen. Somewhere. Hopefully in New Jersey and destroy MetLife Stadium….

Why no Culture Tournament today?
August 25th, 2011 at 8:31 PM
We can only pray for this. Also if it takes out Yankee Stadium/Citifield that would be amazing as well.

Agreed. It is fun to mock the media. However, at the very least, it appears you’ll get a shit ton of rain. Flash flooding kills more people than tornados or hurricanes every year.*
*This year may be an exception.

Jersey – Do you have your MREs, water, and weapons ready?
August 25th, 2011 at 9:04 PM
Big DP there. Man, Miller can look awful at times and great others. Needs to fix his mechanics.
August 25th, 2011 at 9:04 PM
Please. We just killed a couple cows imported from Argentina, gotta keg of Fiji ready to be tapped, and former SAS armed to the teeth camping on the roof. Just need to make sure the netflix we ordered gets here in time.

I want to see lots of PICTURES!
Did you feel that little earthquake you guys had?
August 25th, 2011 at 9:08 PM
Looks like Jim Thome is coming home to Cleveland to finish his career where he started. I find that to be absolutely awesome.
August 25th, 2011 at 9:08 PM
Jersey, you should see the movie Blitz with Jason Statham.
August 25th, 2011 at 9:09 PM
Who the Fuck is Ed Dickson and why are they blowing him up on ESPN coverage.

Another HR for Sox. Up 6-0. Salty with a 2 run shot
August 25th, 2011 at 9:13 PM
Funny story about that. Me and a couple of friends were in Atlantic City getting, well drunk, on Tuesday afternoon when it hit. None of us knew if were really, really hammered or if there was a legit earthquake going on. They actually hit an alarm in the place and a bunch of people evacuated the place, but our music was so loud we didn’t notice people leaving. We definitely felt it, and definitely noticed that shit was moving, just took us a little while to realize we were in an earthquake.
August 25th, 2011 at 9:13 PM
Former Oregon Duck. Has some sick skills for a pass catching TE. Was behind Heap, then got hurt last year. He should have a fantastic year.
August 25th, 2011 at 9:17 PM
That is a funny story. They evacuated? We had a 5.7 just last week. It was just a mention on the local news. I always wondered what would happen if there was an earthquake in the east. I’m trying very hard not to be an earthquake snob.
August 25th, 2011 at 9:22 PM
Yeah Ballz, they evacuated, but not everyone left the casino. But it was very noticeable. Things were back to normal right after, though. One of the girls went right under a doorway when we mentioned earthquake. I laughed my ass off.
August 25th, 2011 at 9:26 PM
Just now saw the clip of Posada playing 2nd base in the 9th of today’s game. He should play the infield a lot more in blowouts.
August 25th, 2011 at 9:31 PM
They need to have Granderson playing SS and Jeter playing C. Now that would be awesome

Right on. That’s some good disaster planning.

I live in The Tornado Alley. We get a handful of tornado watches and fewer warnings each spring and summer. I’ve lived in KS or MO since I was five. We are used to this. When we get put in a tornado watch I tell my wife I’m going to be watching the weather which is code for drinking bourbon. I’ll wake up the next morning after a big storm and my wife will ask if I heard the wind and hail (and thankfully so far no tornados.) I’ll say no and generally find enough tree limbs in the yard to build an Ark.
August 25th, 2011 at 9:45 PM
Ballz, there was 5.7 here the other day? Really? I’m not even kidding, I had no idea
August 25th, 2011 at 9:52 PM
Yea, I didn’t feel it either. Nobody in my house did. My cousin called from work and asked if we felt it. I think it was centered up north somewhere.
August 25th, 2011 at 9:53 PM
KC: What’s really funny is that my roommate just showed up with enough water, fruit rollups, ready to cook steaks and toilet paper to last us a good damn while. WTF?
August 25th, 2011 at 9:56 PM
some old guy….what branch and what did you do in the military
August 25th, 2011 at 10:29 PM
I thought Thome was hated in Cleveland.
August 25th, 2011 at 10:37 PM
He got booed when he first came back to Cleveland after signing with Philly. And I heard some boos the last time Minnesota was in Cleveland. But don’t think it was ever ‘hate’.
August 25th, 2011 at 10:45 PM
People weren’t happy that he left. However, we will welcome home Jimmy T with open arms.
He will get to finish his career in the hat he will go into Cooperstown wearing.
August 25th, 2011 at 10:56 PM
They boo’d him because he veto’d trade during season when they knew he was leaving as fa, and the Indians had no chance.
Now he’s being cheered coming back washed up when Indians have no chance.
/welcome to Cleveland

TexansFan, I was a navigator for 12 years (-135s), then a staff guy for 14, in the USAF/USAF Reserve. Enjoyed it immensely, mostly because of the people I served alongside. Great Americans, all.
