Did Thomas Jones and Rookie Jonathan Baldwin Get in a Fight in the Chiefs’ Locker Room?

According to Nick Wright, a radio host in Kansas City, the Chiefs’ veteran running back got into a fight with the rookie wide receiver in the locker room, and the result is that Baldwin will miss the remainder of the preseason with an injured wrist. The story’s still in the rumor stage, and nothing has been confirmed, but this is obviously not the best news for Todd Haley and the Chiefs.
Jones, a leader when he was with the Jets, is built like a tank and even though Baldwin’s much taller, I can’t imagine this guy losing a fight. Baldwin’s injury is a significant one, since he’s supposed to help Matt Cassel and a passing game that faltered badly in a playoff loss to the Ravens. Baldwin is expected to be the No. 3 receiver after Bowe and Breaston.
Moderately interesting note: Baldwin is from Aliquippa, Pennsylvania, the same town as Darrelle Revis.
[UPDATE: As a reader notes, this isn't the first time Jones has fought with a teammate. When he was with the Bears, he punched out fellow RB Cedric Benson.]
Initially, Jones tried to take Benson under his wing but Benson rebuffed him and the battle lines were drawn. Soon, the pair clashed and their uneasy alliance finally erupted during the 2006 season with Benson claiming Jones punched him in the face during a running backs drill in practice before a Week 6 game against Arizona.

guys always get in fights during training camp. it was known at Giants camp for the last decade that Rich Seubert was going to throw with someone.

Did Thomas Jones and Rookie Jonathan Baldwin Get in a Fight in the Chiefs’ Locker Room?”
i dont know, arent you supposed to tell me that?

Training camps fight happen. Unless Michael Irvin and a pair of barber scissors were involved, it’s not a big deal.

Jamaal Charles at #1 overall too much of a reach?

interviewed Jones once maybe 7-8 years ago. Guy was shorter than me but had the upper body and legs of an olympic weight lifter. he had that ‘V-shaped back’ … small waist … just an absolute monster. i would hate to have been a safety trying to tackle him
August 19th, 2011 at 1:03 PM
should have stopped at lifter.

The black is a better athlete to begin with because he’s been bred to be that way, because of his high thighs and big thighs that goes up into his back, and they can jump higher and run faster because of their bigger thighs and he’s bred to be the better athlete because this goes back all the way to the Civil War when during the slave trade’n the big… the owner… the slave owner would, would, would, would breed his big black to his big woman so that he could have ah, ah big, ah big, ah big black kid see…

i’m assuming it’s a terrible condition where there’s no neck to support the head, and a spine slit into two parts that run to the shoulders rather than the middle of the back.

it does sort of sound like a letter to Playgirl.

Was this how your first draft was written? Because that’s where it seems you were going with that…
August 19th, 2011 at 1:14 PM
I don’t think getting Charles number one overall is a reach. You might be able to get McFadden or Mendenhall in the second round if people get Vick and Rogers in the first round. I’ve seen it happen in a couple of my leagues.

Long time reader, first time in the comments. Who do I see about meme signup and sparklers?

Would this mean BJ Raji has an O-shaped back?
August 19th, 2011 at 1:15 PM
Also, I hate picking first. I rather be in the middle to late first round pick.

it’s where your traps, delts, and lats are all extremely defined; creating a “v” shape around your spine – the only area of the back with no muscle.

August 19th, 2011 at 1:17 PM
Couldn’t agree more. It’s nice getting the top pick, but then you have to wait 20-22 more picks to get your next guy. I’m picking 3rd in my keeper league, not too excited about it.

Moderately interesting note: Baldwin is from Aliquippa, Pennsylvania, the same town as Darrelle Revis.
Mike Ditka, Ty Law, Sean Gilbert, Tony Dorsett (lived in Aliquippa — went to rival HS Hopewell) all are from Aliquippa. I saw Baldwin big bhoops recruit Herb Pope play Pryor in hoops Pryor’s senior year. Baldwin was a BEAST basketball player — far more impressive than the other two.

this is why i can’t stand being in snake draft’s anymore. i’m a total convert to auction at this point, especially for keeper.
August 19th, 2011 at 1:21 PM
Gotta be Kenny. Ozzie is like Jerry’s son. White Sox fans would be thrilled. But not as thrilled as I am right now.

I have the fantasy RBs rated Charles, Peterson, Johnson, Foster, Rice, McFadden, Mendenhall, McCoy
here’s what sucks about a keeper league: of those guys, only Peterson and Foster are available in my league.
/can’t keep players drafted in 1-3 rounds
//the rest were back end draft picks in previous years
///doesn’t have any RB keepers

That’s an interesting wrinkle I’ve never heard of before. I’m in two keeper leagues and one has 2 keepers with no restrictions at all on keepers. The other league allows 1 keeper but you can’t keep the same guy in back to back years.

same here. it could suck, the teams will most likely be the same as last year.

keeper rules:
keep 0-3 players
can’t keep anyone drafted 1-3 rounds of previous year
sacrifice round two spots ahead of where player was taken previous year
can’t keep a player for 3 years in a row
any keeper that was FA pickup is auto 10th round draft pick
August 19th, 2011 at 1:31 PM

No, not really.
August 19th, 2011 at 1:32 PM
Anyone doing a standard draft in a football keeper league is missing out
August 19th, 2011 at 1:32 PM
so if you drafted nicks in the 7th round last year and keep him, he’s your 5th round pick this year, and 3rd round pick the next. after that you can’t keep him b/c a) he’s technically a 1-3 round pick and b) you can’t keep a player 3 years.
makes trading intersting.
August 19th, 2011 at 1:33 PM
yeah, it can get boring after a while w/o restrictions or wrinkles thrown into the mix.
granted, i’ve benefitted from it in a three keeper league with no rules since i’ve had brady and chris johnson for years, before that it was brady and tomlinson.
August 19th, 2011 at 1:38 PM
Then, unfortunately, you will never catch TBL’s eye.
August 19th, 2011 at 1:38 PM
I definitely wouldn’t go that far. Pryor was the best of the 3 hands down – Baldwin was an athletic freak though that jump/dunk with the best of them. His other b-ball skills were average at best.
/officiated multiple games involving all 3 of them.

I went to the Jeanette\Quips game at the Palumbo Center — which I believe was a PIAA semi-final, but I could be wrong. Strange you would say that because I was the least impressed with Pryor. He seemed to float by on his superior athletism and repeadely did the one thing that good basketball players shouldnt do — he always left his feet to pass. I thought Baldwin’s game translated to big time college more because he rebounded well and finished very well. Pope clearly was good as well. Though I would take an officals opinion moreso than mine. You ref alot of WPIAL games?

you guys don’t know about the V-shaped back? basically, you do cardio so you lose weight in the middle. you do lots of back, and it expands.
