Fox Network debuts broadcast of NFL games (1994)
They also debuted the greatest invention ever: The FOXBox. Not to be confused with a foxes box, which is also very nice and captures mens’ attention.
August 12th, 2011 at 2:40 PM
funny, i think the same article was written after his coaching debut in Washington.
August 12th, 2011 at 2:41 PM
Reading that article about Dravecky where they said “minimum 6-8 weeks healing…is probably out for the season” is surreal given what we know actually happened.
August 12th, 2011 at 2:42 PM
Digressing here but I finally read that article about Dubai CRM posted in the roundup yesterday. Left me feeling numb.

Right? I always thought that would be a cool place to check out if I ever ran into some cash… just to say I’ve been to the middle east without having to go to Cairo. No way I’d even consider it now.
August 12th, 2011 at 2:43 PM
4-0 in his first preseason, right?
August 12th, 2011 at 2:43 PM

Lisk deserves modest raise (1)
John Daly 20 year old article mentioned he bought his wife a BMW my reaction was NOOOO don’t do it. If I had a time machine I would jump in between John and car salesman like catching a bullet for someone.

That is as horrifying to read now as it was then. Awful.

Just went back and read the Dubai article. Hooray dictatorships!
August 12th, 2011 at 2:53 PM
Its a shame that those two steroid freaks robbed Griffey of the spotlight. Griffeys 97 and 98 seasons were phenomenal.

John Daly bought that BMW for either his 1st or 2nd of 4 wives which I would consider a poor investment.

I read it yesterday as well. crazy how all that goes down and no one seems to blink an eye.
August 12th, 2011 at 2:59 PM
Or at least a synopsis?
Dubai was/is being built by slave labor. They poach poor people from India, Bangladesh, etc. with promises of making a lot of money. Once they get to Dubai, they take their passports, pay them nothing, and make them live in unaircondtioned/unsanitary shacks. They have no way of leaving, because the money they earn the first 2 years goes toward the cost of getting them to Dubai in the first place.
It also goes into how Dubai is crumbling because of the economy, etc. and about how most of the expats (westerners) who live there don’t give a damn about how it was built and are materialistic idiots.
August 12th, 2011 at 3:00 PM
pay them nothing,
**by this I meant pay them very little.. not nearly as much as they were promised.
August 12th, 2011 at 3:02 PM
**by this I meant pay them very little.. not nearly as much as they were promised
how is it that they keep coming? out of touch with what has gone before, uneducated? is it still better thaan their old life?
August 12th, 2011 at 3:02 PM
Also… if you go into debt and can’t pay.. .they throw you in jail. They interviewed a Canadian woman living out of her Range Rover in a Parking garage because she was evicted and her husband is in jail for 9 months because they ran out of money. She can’t leave, because they took her passport.
August 12th, 2011 at 3:03 PM

Surely you’re not blaming the poor people who were suckered into going over there… they were chosen because they were already poor and uneducated. They jumped at the promises of the chance to better their lives, but it turned out it was a scam.
August 12th, 2011 at 3:12 PM
Talking about the stupid Canadian broad and her dumbass husband. You could not pay me enough to move to the third world.
August 12th, 2011 at 3:13 PM
Fuck him for his brain tumor, right?
August 12th, 2011 at 3:14 PM
Dubai sounds a lot like Vegas. Awesome place to visit if you have a lot of coin, but I would never consider living there.
August 12th, 2011 at 3:15 PM
Fuck him for his brain tumor, right?
He knew what he was getting into
August 12th, 2011 at 3:15 PM
Is he the only one who made that stupid decision?
August 12th, 2011 at 3:17 PM
Shangri-La is a fictional place. So is a wealthy Dubai.
August 12th, 2011 at 3:17 PM
Is he the only one who made that stupid decision?
Just to make sure we’re on the same side here, you mean the decision to get a brain tumor, right? Because I always advise people against them, 3rd world or no
August 12th, 2011 at 3:19 PM
At the risk of answering a smartass question, I was talking about all of the westerners who moved thinking they could get something for nothing.
August 12th, 2011 at 3:20 PM
this is good advice. I wish more people would listen.
August 12th, 2011 at 3:21 PM
It’s a risk we all take every day posting here

August 12th, 2011 at 3:48 PM
Geeez, what’s going to be worse for you, Gretzky going to LA or the inevitable relocation of the Jaguars to LA?
August 12th, 2011 at 3:52 PM
zeus, do a where is he now for pocklington would ya? he still fat and in jail? did he die?
August 12th, 2011 at 3:55 PM
I was heartbroken when Gretzky was traded, it was like a national tragedy.
I’ll be disappointed if the Jags move, but it’s not even close.
August 12th, 2011 at 3:56 PM
Vez, last time I heard Peter Puck was under house arrest for bankrupcy fraud. Hid some assets…
August 12th, 2011 at 4:03 PM
zeus can you describe what he mean to canadian kids, hockey-wise. i mean, was he so good that it wasn;t sensible to even dream of being like him?
August 12th, 2011 at 6:08 PM
ESPN anchor Tom Mees drowns in neighbor’s pool
This was so sad. He was one of the better anchors at espn, and a big hockey fan to boot.
August 12th, 2011 at 6:11 PM
