About as weak as your comprehension skills. That 34 pts and 21 rebounds was as a freshman in HIGH SCHOOL. How else could Illinois subsequently offer a scholarship? This isn’t the SEC.

I was gonna give this kid a second chance this upcoming season if he came buck, but he didn’t.

He deserted the team in January and went back home, got punched out by a teammate after Richmond got in his face after blowing a game against Michigan (happens often under Weber), and then was benched during the NCAA Tournament for either grades or smoking pot.

He’s an idiot, but not because of this. Lockout wasn’t in effect as of the date to declare.

How is this a cautionary tale? This kid is a punk who took his ball and went home because he had a spat with his coach. He could have transferred instead of entering the draft. And then he gets himself arrested for assualt with a firearm.

The lesson to be learned from this tale: Don’t be a punk-ass douchebag.

Jereme Richmond is a moron who against the advice of his coach declared for the draft after playing essentially half a season of college basketball at what can only be deemed an above-average level. What this kid had on his mind declaring for the draft I have no idea. There was no chance he was a first round pick and slim to none chance he got selected at all.

Coaches generally have an idea what they’re talking about with your draft projection. Yes, even Bruce Weber. I don’t feel bad for this kid one iota.
