Here’s Kevin Durant Making One Jaw-Dropping 3-Pointer After Another and Shutting Down Rucker Park
Start your day by marveling at the lethal 3-point shooting ability of Kevin Durant. The OKC star dropped 66 points in his Rucker Park debut in Harlem last night. I watched this video three times in a row with the sound jacked way up and it made me want to go play pick-up ball. Durant’s pulling up 5-6 feet behind the 3-point line and stroking it as if it were a mid-range jumper. Maybe it’s just the way he’s playing this summer, but Durant looks like he’s developed a mean streak on the court. Interesting that he’s getting angry just as LeBron is getting soft and passive. I think Durant might be the best player in the league next year (if there is a season).

He’s the best Big 12 player I ever saw. Beasely is the second best, but memory of him fades.
August 2nd, 2011 at 9:08 AM
Kevon Durant raining threes in the Rucker. Posteuring to fans and letting lil kids jump around him. A POSSIBLE CAM’RON SIGHTING!!!! Yep, if I couldn’t love him more before, I definitely do now. RIP DURANTULA, I know dub thee Killa Kev. That was pretty raw.
August 2nd, 2011 at 9:15 AM
Beasley > Manning, KC Resident?
August 2nd, 2011 at 9:16 AM
That was freaking bad ass.
August 2nd, 2011 at 9:17 AM
I’ll never understand the hard-on for glorified pickup games with no defense.
August 2nd, 2011 at 9:19 AM
Some team in Europe is going to love having him do this every night until the lockout ends.
August 2nd, 2011 at 9:20 AM
So you hate the NBA?
August 2nd, 2011 at 9:21 AM
He’s 100% street now.
August 2nd, 2011 at 9:21 AM
Nice try.
August 2nd, 2011 at 9:22 AM
Manning was Big 8.
August 2nd, 2011 at 9:23 AM
Beasley > Manning, KC Resident?
Manning never played in the Big 12. However, college Manning > college Beasely. The dude was a freak.
August 2nd, 2011 at 9:24 AM
I should have said NBA regular season.
You have to admit that was a pretty cool scene when the kids rushed the court.
August 2nd, 2011 at 9:24 AM
Meanwhile, LeBron was spotted shoving another 12 year old to win a game of knockout/lightning.
August 2nd, 2011 at 9:26 AM
Mildly impressive, but I got 27 foot range too.
August 2nd, 2011 at 9:27 AM
you should have stopped right there.
August 2nd, 2011 at 9:28 AM
great post, TBL.
August 2nd, 2011 at 9:29 AM
Why do people say “I told you. I told you.”
What did you tell your stupid friends, dude, that this awesome NBA players was going to come in here and make a bunch of three-pointers while be guarded lightly by non-NBA defenders? Awesome.
August 2nd, 2011 at 9:31 AM
Seeing guys easily make shots and throw down dunks that make persons in the crowd run halfway on the floor doesn’t really look cool to me. But this seems like the only type of NBA we’ll get for a while, so I should probably try to enjoy it.
No idea what you’re talking about.
August 2nd, 2011 at 9:33 AM
And to the guy yelling on the microphone….shut the fuck up.
August 2nd, 2011 at 9:36 AM
And to the guy yelling on the microphone….shut the fuck up.
Are you familiar with urban/black culture?
August 2nd, 2011 at 9:37 AM
Are you baiting me or asking a serious question? Because yes, I know exactly what’s going on, and no, I don’t like it.
August 2nd, 2011 at 9:37 AM
Hell yeah. Its great that he didnt have a bunch of jack ass security guards pushing people away (surprising actually), just waited until everyone calmed down and walked away.
August 2nd, 2011 at 9:37 AM
unbelievable. durant is fucking awesome.
August 2nd, 2011 at 9:37 AM
I can’t explain it. You’ve got to be at the Rucker or the Cage in person. When NBA players show up to ball at the street leagues, you see just how much better they are then some guys who would run you and me off the court before we even laced up our sneakers. It’s like seeing Ronaldo show up for a street soccer game and watching demolish everyone. Durant was triple teamed for the last three and just bust in everyone’s eye. I know you’ve seen the videos of Vince, T-Mac, and Kobe doing the same. It’s a treat if you can’t afford to see these guys live in person. It’s probably the closest anyone in the stands is going to see these guys ball in person.
August 2nd, 2011 at 9:38 AM
No. Not at all.
August 2nd, 2011 at 9:39 AM
And I swear that was fucking Cam’ron toward the end.
August 2nd, 2011 at 9:39 AM
Because yes, I know exactly what’s going on, and no, I don’t like it.
Meh, I’m sure they look at frat guys wearing popped collars listening to Dave Matthews with the same sort of bemusement.
Then again, Jersey will probably be doing that in Athens in a few months; at which point the universe will implode.
August 2nd, 2011 at 9:39 AM
I’m not sure mean-mugging to the 12-year olds in the stands counts as a mean streak.
August 2nd, 2011 at 9:40 AM
Maybe it’s just the way he’s playing this summer, but Durant looks like he’s developed a mean streak on the court.
Gotta be the tattoos.

August 2nd, 2011 at 9:40 AM
seriously…durant’s the biggest, fastest and most skilled guy out there by miles. id be shocked if he broke a sweat.
August 2nd, 2011 at 9:40 AM
I know I do.
August 2nd, 2011 at 9:41 AM
Tony Dungy on the DP Show right now. I like his analysis.
August 2nd, 2011 at 9:41 AM
There are alot of guys who were very good who for reasons, whether it be of their own, or circumstances never made it to the NBA who happen to play in these games. You idiots happen to watch things like the And 1 Tour and think that’s how these games are played. These guys play for their reps in these games, and when an NBA player shows up, their mindset isn’t to sit there in awe and let these guys do whatever they want. They go hard. You probably need to see one of these games before you go off at the mouth condescendingly about something you know nothing about.
August 2nd, 2011 at 9:41 AM
Basketball doesn’t need a hype man.
And stay the fuck off the court if you’re not playing.
August 2nd, 2011 at 9:42 AM
With the red hat? I had to rewind that part… gangster midget.
August 2nd, 2011 at 9:42 AM
Tony Dungy on the DP Show right now. I like his analysis.
Is his analysis giving God all the credit? Then blaming the gays when things go bad?
August 2nd, 2011 at 9:43 AM
Basketball doesn’t need a hype man.

You guys sound like you belong to a country club. It’s a pick-up game.
August 2nd, 2011 at 9:44 AM
Looked like that white guy Mike Nardi playing on Durant’s team.
August 2nd, 2011 at 9:44 AM
Just curious, and not trying to be a wiseass….but are you basing this opinion on this video? I’m willing to bet Durant has always had this sort of “mean streak”, but has found he needs to harness it for the good of his own game.
I would love to watch some of these games live at Rucker Park. The place is legendary (even though I’ve probably talked trash about NY when talking about where great players come from). Seems like it would be cooler to actually be there to watch rather than to watch on TV.
August 2nd, 2011 at 9:45 AM
Won’t be my first rodeo. Love the fuck out of Athens.
August 2nd, 2011 at 9:46 AM
can i get an invite? at least a junior membership so i can use the practice facilities?
August 2nd, 2011 at 9:47 AM

10K initiation fee. Straight cash. Per Roethlishotdog, all games on the basketball court must obey the strict dress code, and only polite applause is allowed.
August 2nd, 2011 at 9:47 AM
You have no idea. It is legitmately like a circus. 5 on 5 street ball on decabol with a bunch of people who actually like watching basketball in the stands. Nothing is lost on anyone. To be completely honest, I would absolutely love Simmons to go to a Rucker league game and document it.
August 2nd, 2011 at 9:50 AM
Won’t be my first rodeo. Love the fuck out of Athens.
I did some reconnaissance a few weekends ago. Lots of sundresses. I’ll take Madison over just about any college town in the summer though.
August 2nd, 2011 at 9:54 AM
Come on now, Darrell. You know better than that.
August 2nd, 2011 at 9:59 AM
All I saw was a bunch of people in the way along the baselines and in the corners and some guy yelling while wearing the WWE’s belt.
/not the target audience
August 2nd, 2011 at 10:02 AM
Mr. C, way to chime in! How’s life on Hot 97?
August 2nd, 2011 at 10:02 AM
Meh.
August 2nd, 2011 at 10:03 AM
Awesome.
August 2nd, 2011 at 10:06 AM
Am I developing an old guy/get off my lawn persona? Time for some introspection … sorry, TBL.
August 2nd, 2011 at 10:06 AM
Anyone here a George R.R. Martin fan and reading the newest book? I know Geeez was reading it but he doesn’t seem to be around this morning.
August 2nd, 2011 at 10:07 AM
That’s good, but how many points did Greg Oden score?
August 2nd, 2011 at 10:12 AM
no, Mr. C. just kidding around. there’s a DJ at Hot 97 named “Mr. C” who is pretty awesome. download the APP if you want … you’ll hear him.
August 2nd, 2011 at 10:12 AM
Why hasn’t this happened yet?
August 2nd, 2011 at 10:17 AM
I second that. I’m sure it’s a big deal to his fans and maybe him that he goes to Rucker and puts on a show, but I care not.
August 2nd, 2011 at 10:17 AM
what mean the world to you?
/Cam!
August 2nd, 2011 at 10:19 AM
has anybody here read this?
August 2nd, 2011 at 10:21 AM
He likes to throw a couple of extra Es on there for the full “Mister Cee”. Probably a touch more hip-hop than myself.
August 2nd, 2011 at 10:32 AM
I’m just getting into the books now after the show. About 150 pages into the 3rd book now.
August 2nd, 2011 at 10:35 AM
I’m a few hundred into book two. I annoyed the shit out of the Wife by constantly saying “in the book …” while we watched the show.
August 2nd, 2011 at 10:37 AM
“grr…i’ll show you by reading these 700 page books in a week.”
that’s the type of grudge this sicilian can respect. kudos.
August 2nd, 2011 at 10:38 AM
The dude in the FSU hat, right? It sure looked like Cam.
August 2nd, 2011 at 10:39 AM
Hey SG, I finished the Dragons a few days ago.
August 2nd, 2011 at 10:40 AM
Not yet. I own an older copy of it, but haven’t gotten to it yet. Some reading I’m doing for work (stupid work) is getting in the way of my personal reading.
August 2nd, 2011 at 10:42 AM
The Bear Jew. Man of the People.
August 2nd, 2011 at 10:43 AM
about 250+ pages into book 4 now. really enjoy it, although i really am missing the storyline from the north so far.
August 2nd, 2011 at 10:44 AM
Then race through Feast. The story in the North is the best part of Dragons.
August 2nd, 2011 at 10:45 AM
I like the pacing of the books more than the show. Not that the show missed anything key, but it glossed over a few things that Martin spent some time with.
August 2nd, 2011 at 10:45 AM
From the photo caption:
Carimi had every right to be weirded out by a photog taking pictures of him coming out of the shitter. That’s a step or two removed from a dude with a camera phone at the urinals.
August 2nd, 2011 at 10:46 AM
First comment of the day moderated. What an inauspicious start.
August 2nd, 2011 at 10:48 AM
I’ve read some reviews that make it sound like a good and informative read. I think I’m going to buy it.
August 2nd, 2011 at 10:49 AM
130 pages into Clash of Kings, only get to read about 20-30 pgs a night
August 2nd, 2011 at 10:51 AM
Finals of my summer courses are next week. Then it’s 3 weeks of rereading Thrones, Swords, and Crows, before moving onto Dragons.
August 2nd, 2011 at 10:51 AM
I have been assured this was merely a piss break. Players go into the dorms and take off the pads when pinching a loaf. The Bears, do not in fact, shit in the woods.
August 2nd, 2011 at 10:58 AM
Oh, this is so fucking rich, it’s fattening.
August 2nd, 2011 at 11:02 AM
I was hoping this was a new Epic Meal Time…to YouTube I go
August 2nd, 2011 at 11:03 AM
you go off at the mouth condescendingly about something you know nothing about.
that’s 99% of your posts.
August 2nd, 2011 at 11:06 AM
All these SOOWHHCES…
August 2nd, 2011 at 11:09 AM
I’m feeling a little disappointed. The Daenerys story line is annoying the shit out of me. And he’s really dragging out Tyrion’s “adventure.” Basically, I feel like this book is a bunch of filler with little advancement of plot.
August 2nd, 2011 at 11:13 AM
Sorry the book of fantasy isn’t to your liking.
August 2nd, 2011 at 11:16 AM
Yeah, pretty sure I wasn’t addressing anything to you. But thanks for chiming in on stuff that doesn’t involve you, as usual.
August 2nd, 2011 at 11:21 AM
I couldn’t agree more. The ending is really annoying. I was pissed when I finished b/c I felt like I wasted time. But after a couple days, I thought that it was ok. It needs more Bran and Arya.
August 2nd, 2011 at 11:43 AM
OMG this. They’ve been basically absent for these last 2 books! They’re the most compelling, if not the most interesting characters in the books and he never focuses on them. He must have something specific in mind for them and doesn’t have a way to drag out their plot lines like he can with Tyrion and Daenerys.
August 2nd, 2011 at 11:46 AM
Yeah, I have no idea how Bran is going to fit into everything. I can kind of see how most of the characters might come together, but not Bran.
And fuck young griff. I don’t like that twist, but I suspect there will be another twist in regards to that.
August 2nd, 2011 at 11:47 AM
This is the most badass thing i have seen in a long time.
August 2nd, 2011 at 12:24 PM
But does he still read the Bible?
August 2nd, 2011 at 12:27 PM
I went to the UT/KU Big 12 Championship game back in whatever year it was…2006? 2007? Durant was unstoppable, that was probably the most impressive basketball performance I’ve ever seen in person (even though they lost by like 10).
August 2nd, 2011 at 12:31 PM
And damn, I missed the GRRM discussion. I’m about 700 pages into Storm of Swords. Some shit finally happened (the wedding at the Twins), but other than that I haven’t been thrilled with this one, and I thought Clash of Kings was pretty boring for the most part. At this point I’m not sure I’ll read book 4, but I’m sure the ending of this one will sucker me into it.
August 2nd, 2011 at 1:15 PM
Didn’t Kobe drop 81 at one of these games a few years ago? …..Oh wait that was an actual NBA game?
August 2nd, 2011 at 2:02 PM
I’m pretty sure I saw a 10 year old guarding him at one point.
August 2nd, 2011 at 3:57 PM
Hello Durant. Bye Bye LeBron.
August 2nd, 2011 at 7:52 PM
as long as lebron has a below average jumpshot the lack of kevin durant’s strength and post up game will always put him as the second best player in the nba behind lebron
August 4th, 2011 at 9:58 AM
Hey CGYFlames. LeBron is an excellent player. However, I bet more GMs would take Durant over LeBron right now….or once the dumb NBA lockout is over.
