Carlos Beltran to the San Francisco Giants?
Carlos Beltran is on the verge of becoming a San Francisco Giant. Logistics are currently being worked out according to Yahoo’s Tim Brown, but it appears Beltran is headed to the Bay. San Francisco is apparently willing to part with top prospect Gary Brown, which likely helped the talks progress from a pinch of the cheek to a full blown, seven minutes of heaven makeout session.
According to my sources, Beltran’s Milk Dud has opted to stay in Queens and his fickle Neg-Burns remain undecided.
UPDATE: According to Buster Olney, Brown is not part of the deal. Stud pitching prospect Zach Wheeler is the centerpiece. For now. Regardless, the Giants appear to be the team closest to penetration.
UPDATE #2: Pending approval from Beltran, who has a no-trade clause, and Bird Selig’s office, this deal will be as official as Kate Upton’s ass.

This picture of Rasmus is GLORIOUS.
Great add for the Giants. Wonder if this means Belt is headed back to the minors?
July 27th, 2011 at 1:34 PM
He will be getting lots of play out in LF, with Beltran in center.
July 27th, 2011 at 1:35 PM
Please no.
July 27th, 2011 at 1:35 PM
Cody Ross. I think it’s far more likely they bench Huff if someone is getting sat.
July 27th, 2011 at 1:35 PM
Beltran in center? Get ready for a knee injury!
July 27th, 2011 at 1:35 PM
NEG BURNS.
July 27th, 2011 at 1:36 PM
I see a rotation of Ross/Belt in LF and Huff/Belt at first.
July 27th, 2011 at 1:36 PM
Oh yes.

that shirt rocks…tho id watch it. obama might send a few drone strikes his way…
/just read a great atlantic article about obama and the CIA on the shitter…don’t care if it’s unethical, love a prez who’ll pull the trigger and give the spooks room to work

Now that the madness has begun, let’s unload some Cubbies!!!

Fuck all the shitheads in Washington.

DeAngelo resigning in Carolina, J-Stew’s fantasy value plummets.
July 27th, 2011 at 1:39 PM
Why won’t Dempster and Aramis waive no-trade clauses? I’d be out of there ASAP if I had to play for Quade and Hendry
July 27th, 2011 at 1:39 PM
Only if the Cubs are willing to pay for most of their contracts.
July 27th, 2011 at 1:39 PM
Free Kerry Wood!
July 27th, 2011 at 1:39 PM
Miami cries. Dolphins should have gone after him hard.
/no expectations for any good free agents to go to Buffalo
July 27th, 2011 at 1:40 PM
Fuck
July 27th, 2011 at 1:40 PM
Not at the price Carolina paid…like seeing the Dolphins are interested in trading for Kyle Orton, been calling for that since the end of last season
July 27th, 2011 at 1:40 PM
Philly, I cannot believe they spent all that money to keep DeAngelo with Jonathan Stewart there. Just ridiculous.
July 27th, 2011 at 1:41 PM
BB, I will gladly eat crow if Carlos Beltran can last the rest of the season in centerfield.
July 27th, 2011 at 1:41 PM
They’re willing to pick up a lot of Soriano’s but no one wants him. Similar circumstances for Zambrano. Fukudome will get moved, probably to Cleveland as a stopgap while they wait for Choo. He’s on the last year of his deal.
Carlos Pena, for whatever reason, won’t get moved because he’s a good locker room guy. Stupid reasoning, but it’s the one given. Dempster and Ramirez will be going no where. I understand Dempster (the law prevents me from tell you why) but Aramis is comfortable and just doesn’t want to leave.
July 27th, 2011 at 1:41 PM
Hernia, you are doing excellent work today.
Good move, Sabes. Seems like a solid move for the Mets, too.
July 27th, 2011 at 1:41 PM
I know…absolutely insane. Carolina is spending money like a sailor on a three day leave in Thailand.
July 27th, 2011 at 1:42 PM
Why wouldn’t Cardinals try and get Orton on the cheap, instead of overpaying for Kolb?
July 27th, 2011 at 1:42 PM
Jeff Ireland and Sparano will find a way to screw it up. I listen to Lebatard’s radio show and there is little faith in the people running the team
July 27th, 2011 at 1:42 PM
You’d want two good running backs if you didn’t have a quarterback worth a shit either.
July 27th, 2011 at 1:43 PM
The same reason I would never want Adam Dunn or Mark Reynolds. WHIFF! WHIFF! WHIFF!
July 27th, 2011 at 1:43 PM
The Indians are doing all they can to lose this game to the Angels, and Ervin Santana has a no-no through six.

What was the deal?
July 27th, 2011 at 1:44 PM
Is this a time machine to 2008-2009?
July 27th, 2011 at 1:44 PM
They have yet to overpay for Kolb. If anything the Cardinals should wait now. Once Orton goes to the Dolphins then there is only one team trading for Kolb.
July 27th, 2011 at 1:45 PM
The
$64,000$8.9 million question.July 27th, 2011 at 1:46 PM
Don’t they have three there now with Cam?
July 27th, 2011 at 1:46 PM
There’s obviously another team aside from the Dolphins in on this (Browns? Bengals?).
And that logic works both ways, the Cardinals now have one less option to say they are pursuing.
July 27th, 2011 at 1:47 PM
Olney saying that Wheeler is the centerpiece of the Beltran trade. So yeah…what do you feel about that Giants fans?
July 27th, 2011 at 1:47 PM
not browns…they’re going with colt, live or die.
July 27th, 2011 at 1:47 PM
Sorry TJ, but Buffalo is pretty much football Siberia now.
July 27th, 2011 at 1:47 PM
I know he’s having a rough season but I am surprised nobody claimed Brandon Inge off waivers
July 27th, 2011 at 1:47 PM
The eagles will be lucky to get DRC and a 3rd. No team will come close to providing that kind of deal.
July 27th, 2011 at 1:47 PM
They have Mike Goodson, who was more than serviceable at times last year. Considering Williams’ age, this deal makes no sense.
5 yrs, $43 million with $21 mil guaranteed
July 27th, 2011 at 1:47 PM
interesting, I’ve always heard them called white walls.
July 27th, 2011 at 1:47 PM
Oh… it’s Wheeler, not Gary Brown? Hmm. IT BETTER NOT BE FUCKING BOTH.
July 27th, 2011 at 1:47 PM
He’s having a bad year but Adam Dunn otherwise in his career has been a valuable asset to a lineup strikeouts included…Papi has struck out over 120 times on 4 occasions but I’m guessing you recognize that other value he brings to the plate
July 27th, 2011 at 1:48 PM
Buffalo – football mongolia
Jacksonville – football siberia
/one step above!
July 27th, 2011 at 1:49 PM
This sums it up perfectly…
July 27th, 2011 at 1:49 PM
Or at least to the clubhouse. Every team needs to have a dealer.
July 27th, 2011 at 1:49 PM
Has he ever struck out over 200 times in a season? (Ortiz, that is)
July 27th, 2011 at 1:49 PM
then why did Arizona cut Wily Mo?
July 27th, 2011 at 1:49 PM
Except all signs point to that not being “lucky” and it being at least what they get. Not saying this to be a jerk, but whatever your evaluation of Kolb is, you aren’t running the Cards, Browns, Bengals, or any other team in on this.
July 27th, 2011 at 1:50 PM
I’d be ecstatic if the Braves could make a deal for Adam Dunn. Bring him back to the NL where he was possibly more comfortable.
July 27th, 2011 at 1:50 PM
oakland is football siberia. jacksonville’s football bosnia. buffalo’s football afghanistan (with canada playing the part of pakistan).

Bench player or are you willing to sacrifice Freddie’s defense for Adam’s bat at first?
July 27th, 2011 at 1:51 PM
No. But he’s also only walked over 100 times twice. Take your fucking blinders off for Christ sake.

Twitter is absolutely nuts today…every minute is like four updates it seems like.
July 27th, 2011 at 1:52 PM
Yea and you are not running the eagles. Put a tampon in.
July 27th, 2011 at 1:52 PM
Well no, but having an extra strikeout or two a week really isn’t that big a deal if you’re otherwise producing…the manner in which you makes outs only seems to matter to fans when it’s a K

The $64,000 $8.9 million question.
Ah ok, but I meant in terms of giving up too many picks and/or players.

tiger’s place
I wonder how many days a year he actually lives there. Also, what are the chances that he’s only set foot in a few of the rooms of his mansion one or two times? I bet he goes weeks without stepping foot in entire wings of that place. Not sure I’d want such an enormous house like that, even if I had the money.
July 27th, 2011 at 2:16 PM
/looks at his schedule
i think he’s there plenty, actually.
