Yao Ming Hatched From A Basketball
I’ve previously expressed my doubts about whether or not there are actually Taiwanese animators involved in these Taiwanese news animations. Still, when you’ve got Yao Ming’s mother laying a basketball like an egg and Yao hatching from that basketball egg, you’ve got my attention. When you follow that up with Yao flying to America on top of a small plane, Charles Barkley kissing a donkey’s rear and Yao riding a shark through an ocean of rose petals I’m forced to post the video.

How delightfully absurd indeed. Hedonism Bot approves.

Great to know not only did his mother pop a basketball egg out of her vagina, but also that she gave birth on a basketball court. His dad even caught the “pass”.
/ Barkley reenactment was on point though

So you’re saying I’m going to hate him but appreciate some of his draft picks five years from now?

Am I reading the twitter leaves all wrong or is the rumor that Pence would be traded for Dominic Brown? That doesn’t seem like the worst thing ever.
July 20th, 2011 at 7:29 PM
Yup, but blame the owner for being a cheap ass and not willing to pucker up money to go over slot.
July 20th, 2011 at 7:30 PM
the ones they didnt sign haha
July 20th, 2011 at 7:32 PM
Do not want Dom Brown being traded anywhere, period. Only way I would want Dom Brown traded is for a mega deal for Kemp, otherwise…fuck that.
July 20th, 2011 at 7:33 PM
Yup, but blame the owner for being a cheap ass and not willing to pucker up money to go over slot.
Oh I already do. Wade may be a dumbass who is about to trade my favorite player and the only five tool player we’ve had since Carlos Beltran, but he’s a victim of McLane’s cheapness. ALL of our troubles over the last 10 years are Drayton’s fault. It will also be Drayton’s fault when we have the worst record in baseball again next year.

If Wade gets a top flight prospect out of this, I can sort of forgive him.

1) I will be pissed if Philly ends up with Pence/Beltran
2) I will be pissed if the Giants end up with only Keppinger
3) I AM pissed at Ricky Nolasco. It’s the fucking Padres you assclown!!

July 20th, 2011 at 10:35 PM
FWIW I gave in to the ads and looked up QuiBids and did some due diligence on it. Couldn’t be more of a ripoff. The model for penny auctions is that each bid costs money, goes up by a penny, and extends the time, so a set of golf clubs going for $12.95 actually has 1295 bids, costing $.60 each. Someone will pay $12.95 + tax + fees + shipping, plus the cost of all their bids, but overall, the company makes a ton of money because they are able to get $800 for a $600 set of golf clubs. Because of this, I imagine they don’t even have to keep inventory on hand, but just throw a picture of something up, and go buy it when someone eventually wins it.
I’m sure some people lucked into good deals (especially early on before there were lots of users) but it’s amazing to me that people use/believe in these sites.
The business model is to spread out enough losses to enough people on each item, to get 150% of the items value, and give one person a big deal. The problem is that as a whole, the users of the site pay a 50% markup on average for each item, if you count all the losing bids.
Just awful.
July 20th, 2011 at 10:39 PM
Football will help Sunday’s and Monday’s, but every other night will still be shit sandwich.
July 20th, 2011 at 10:41 PM
Yeah, penny auctions are a shady business. I read somewhere that many of the sites “bids” are automatically done, so that the site is bidding against you.
July 20th, 2011 at 10:43 PM
I had no idea what a penny auction even was… just saw ads on ESPN and TV all he sudden the past few weeks, so I figured I’d see what it was.
Too good to be true = is
July 20th, 2011 at 10:46 PM
Penny auctions will get TBLAD off to a rip-roaring start! I’m gonna go over to TVF and tell everyone we’re talking about penny auctions!
July 20th, 2011 at 10:46 PM
I’m waiting for the FTC to get involved in those sites before long. If those sites do have drones to bid up goods, then it has to be looked at as unfair trade practice….
July 20th, 2011 at 10:47 PM
I was the same, and looked it up because because it was bugging me not knowing their angle.
July 20th, 2011 at 10:51 PM
Anyone watching WSOP? Down to 10 guys. The tension is thick in there, waiting for someone to really F up and miss out on the final table.
It’s also great listening to Hellmuth know what every dude has in his hand when they bet.
One dude has gone from $5m and short stacked to $25m and in 3rd place in about 90 minutes…

OT:
Going to see Capt. America tonight. I’m cautiously optimistic. If the movie review posts are going to continue this summer, I can write a blurb for you, TBL. Otherwise, I’ll just be on here tomorrow morning.
END OT (and shameless self-promotion).

I think hockey is a step above ‘niche’ status now.
July 20th, 2011 at 11:08 PM
Don’t know if you know this, but that’s recorded from a recording yesterday.
July 20th, 2011 at 11:13 PM
And the two ‘recordings’ are necessary because it’s a delay of a delay. Yesterday it was 30 minute delay, then played out til about 3am last night, now it’s replayed for people who didn’t stay up and watch or read live updates.
July 20th, 2011 at 11:14 PM
Way OT: I was flipping through the channels earlier, not able to find much to watch, and ended up on ABC’s “Happy Endings”. Has anyone else seen this? I was pleasantly surprised. Definitely not that great of a show, but at least it was better than NBC’s abortion that used to be in between “Community” and “The Office”.
July 20th, 2011 at 11:16 PM
Absolutely did not know that. Makes sense since it ended almost right at 11. I had heard nothing of it, so the live feel was perfect for me…
How much partying did those 9 do last night?
July 20th, 2011 at 11:21 PM
Awesome interview of a young Marbury and Garnett from 1998, featuring Hannah Storm and her short hair, Marbury’s general hilarity, a less-crazy KG, and Peter Vescey.
July 20th, 2011 at 11:21 PM
Didn’t hear much, I’m sure the kid Holden did plenty though. Easy favorites are Ben Lamb (my choice) and Phil Collins. They come back and play November 5th. Heads up the 7th, and I think it’s played on tv the 8th.

OT, loving this Led Zeppelin bio on the biography channel – Dazed & Confused. One of my top 5 bands
July 20th, 2011 at 11:51 PM
I’ve seen Happy Endings – I like it and it has lots of potential. One of the few shows where all characters have storylines they could advance rather than 1-2 characters and the other 3-4 are just background characters. It got really crappy ratings but I’m used to shows I watch getting canceled.
July 20th, 2011 at 11:52 PM

I’d usually run in the house and record it, but I did that when it was on a few months ago.
Huge day in the Tour tomorrow. Must see stage. I can’t wait to see what happens.
July 20th, 2011 at 11:55 PM
Ballz I was so pissed when a guy form ANOTHER team towed Contador (sp) back up to Cadell Evans on Tuesday. that is such BS when Contador has his own team plus every Spaniard helping him.
/not rooting for Contador obviously
July 20th, 2011 at 11:57 PM
I just read the comments on the Leopard thread about animals and people etc. Pets (at least dogs, fuck cats) are like children though, even if you don’t care for other people’s, you like your own. I have a step-dog (by marriage) a boxer, that is basically the perfect dog. She looks after my wife when I’m working late (I’m at the lab right now), is automatically protective of any child crying, but will run through a door to attack someone who seems like a threat. I could go on and on about how smart and awesome she is, and how if my wife and I are in two different rooms, she’ll lie in the hallway so she can see us both, and how she’s an awesome hide-and-seek player…
/knows no one cares
//can’t possibly explain how awesome my dog is
July 21st, 2011 at 12:01 AM
I know. It’s irritating. It was a Euskatel rider and Contador isn’t even Basque. Schleck looked awful yesterday and I just don’t trust Cadel. I’d like to see Andy Schleck win. Or, if Voekler can hang on, that would be a great story. Even if he is French.
July 21st, 2011 at 12:04 AM
And Saxo Bank kinda sucks ass.
July 21st, 2011 at 12:05 AM
Before the Tour started I thought Andy Schleck had the best chance to beat Contador but now I think Evans can win.
July 21st, 2011 at 12:08 AM
It looks like he can, I just don’t trust him. I can’t picture Contador cracking on a big climb. I don’t know what the hell happened when he lost time that first day in the Pyrenees. I think he’s ready. I really can’t wait to see what happens.

Forgot Real Madrid was playing in the MLS tonight. Just turned it on and watched Ronaldo score 2 quick goals, the difference in speed between the teams is amazing.

Captain America is a “fun romp.” here’s the problem: I shouldn’t be using the term “fun romp” to describe this movie.
6 out of 10. More in the morning.
