And where exactly are they going to play him? 1B/LF should be off limits with Belt starting every single game.
/please NFL & players end the negotations today
July 20th, 2011 at 8:13 AM
… was cited for failing to properly secure his load.
Impressive.
July 20th, 2011 at 8:14 AM
All depends on who they get back, but I’m open to it.
July 20th, 2011 at 8:16 AM
The $16 House Guy is probably enjoying the 105* days we’ve had in the Dallas area the past month.
July 20th, 2011 at 8:19 AM
Yosemite is awesome and I can’t wait to go back. it’s a raw and beautiful place…many opportunities to do something stupid and kill yourself. 10-12 people die there every year.
July 20th, 2011 at 8:19 AM
Cuddyer plays RF mainly (don’t know who routinely plays there for SF, Schierholtz?), can play 1B, 2B, 3B. Says he likes playing SS the most, although hasn’t in years. Pretty sure they can find room.
July 20th, 2011 at 8:19 AM
He’ll be at second.
July 20th, 2011 at 8:21 AM
Didn’t they just trade for Keppinger yesterday? Unless Kepp is playing SS, and Freddy Sanchez is on the bench then that move makes sense.
July 20th, 2011 at 8:22 AM
The $16 house guy’s neighbors are pissed
Too bad.
July 20th, 2011 at 8:23 AM
chief, how’s the media round your parts on thome’s chase of 600? it’s starting to boggle my mind that there’s not more espn love, like jeter’s chase. i know i know, east coast bias and all, but there have been fewer 600hr guys than 3000-hit guys
plus dude’s ped-clean and has never had a bad word said about him off the field
July 20th, 2011 at 8:23 AM
Cuddyer would play some RF, some 2B, some 1B, in theory. I think they like the outstanding defense they’re getting from Brandon Crawford at SS, and Cuddyer would be as bad as Tejada was there. Keppinger is a nice player, but he could easily just become a very useful utility guy.
July 20th, 2011 at 8:26 AM
Judging from my very unscientific gauge of public interest, there is going to be a sellout (or very close to it)for the WPS game tonight in Rochester thanks to Abby and Hope Solo coming to town.
July 20th, 2011 at 8:29 AM
Miz – interesting link you sent the other day. still devouring it.
July 20th, 2011 at 8:29 AM
One of my favorite moments from going to games, was last year when the Twins came to Philly, in the top of the 9th, Thome can in as a pinch hitter and we the fans gave him a standing ovation. Of course he blasted a three run shot, but the 1 minute+ standing ovation was really cool and Thome gave a hat tip.
/see Philly fans do have some class
//rabble rabble rabble Santa Claus, Michael Irvin…blah blah blah
July 20th, 2011 at 8:29 AM
Ah yep, a sellout. Although it looks like Solo will not be playing.
July 20th, 2011 at 8:29 AM
here’s Ciara in a bikini
love her.
July 20th, 2011 at 8:31 AM
Everybody is in love with him, and rightfully so. There’s been stories for him about every week, now to the point of just waiting for 599 for 24/7 watch.
July 20th, 2011 at 8:32 AM
I will never, ever complain about being itchy ever again.
July 20th, 2011 at 8:32 AM
Jeff SBTB episode.
July 20th, 2011 at 8:33 AM
solid opinion, buddy.
just kidding. thanks!
July 20th, 2011 at 8:34 AM
Mantis…giatns beat writer said they’d be looking at a 2B for Cuddyer
sportsdork…would you move a starting pitcher like Vogelsong or Bumgarner if it meant getting Beltran? Always nice to have those arms, but Beltran and Sandoval at three and four would be pretty tough to deal with.
Give the Giants the opportunity to move that lineup around so Panda has more people on base when he’s at the plate.
July 20th, 2011 at 8:35 AM
chief, how’s the media round your parts on thome’s chase of 600?
anyone remember when he left cleveland to go to philly and he wept like a broad?
July 20th, 2011 at 8:37 AM
The old folks listening and describing T.I. was classic. I am still laughing.
July 20th, 2011 at 8:37 AM
\
Bumgarner, hell no. A thousand no’s. With Vogelsong I’d be open to a whole range of things, but I highly doubt the Mets would be interested. They should want youngsters.
July 20th, 2011 at 8:39 AM
Cuddy is not going anywhere and will stay with the Twins and resign with them. The front office and Gardy like him too much. Knowing this the Twins will ask for so much and if a team is stupid to give into those demands then best of luck to that team as Cuddy will be a rent-a-player then and be back with the Twins next year.
If Thome would be on the Yankees or Red Sox the media would go nuts covering this quest for 600 but since he is in flyover land there is hardly anything being written.
July 20th, 2011 at 8:39 AM
I heard Rosenthal saying that the Phillies and Mets were talking about Beltran as well, with the Mets picking up about $6 mil of the $7 mil that he’s owed the rest of the year. Phils would move some of their B-tier prospects (not Cosart/Singleton/May/Colvin).
July 20th, 2011 at 8:40 AM
I had never seen it before either, but it’s pretty funny.
July 20th, 2011 at 8:41 AM
I like this route more.

That said, I think Honest Tea is the blandest beverage I’ve ever consumed. Choosing between an Honest Tea and water, I’d pick water.
July 20th, 2011 at 8:42 AM
Chief – one of my friends told me recently he sets the DVR for SBTB DAILY
July 20th, 2011 at 8:43 AM
Considering the Twins have fleeced the Giants before, I say go right ahead. Maybe Sabean will trade Wheeler this time around…
July 20th, 2011 at 8:45 AM
and yet we’ll listen to our east coast contingent bitch about it being close to 100* today.
July 20th, 2011 at 8:45 AM
Oh how I hate that sleezy, slimy, smily Jeff.
July 20th, 2011 at 8:45 AM
I guess he is, but you could also make an argument that Osgood was more of a passenger on those Stanley Cup teams than one of the drivers. He didn’t fare so well during stints outside of Detroit.
July 20th, 2011 at 8:46 AM
Fair enough…everybody else had been mentioning Zach Wheeler. Pretty impressive line down in A ball from a quick google search.
July 20th, 2011 at 8:46 AM
Can’t say I blame him. I just started a new routine where I’m up at this time and able to watch it in the morning. Just too many good memories.
July 20th, 2011 at 8:47 AM
That was a different Twins regime. This one trades Wilson Ramos for Matt Capps. If I were a Twins fan I would be constantly concerned.
July 20th, 2011 at 8:48 AM
am I the only one that thinks he’s Jeff Gordon’s doppelganger?
July 20th, 2011 at 8:49 AM
That is a damn fine point there.
July 20th, 2011 at 8:49 AM
Shut up, shut up, shut up, shut up, shut up, shut up, shut up.
July 20th, 2011 at 8:50 AM
Chris Osgood and the Hall of Fame? No.

July 20th, 2011 at 8:51 AM
I have to leave at 8 for work, so when they made Home Improvement the 7-8 block, it made me sad.
July 20th, 2011 at 8:52 AM
8 people…in a 3,500 square mile area.
July 20th, 2011 at 8:52 AM
Oh how I hate that sleezy, slimy, smily Jeff.
He also stole Johnny Rico’s girlfriend in Starship Troopers. I wish SBTB could’ve had Screech eat his brain or something in a later storyline, though…
July 20th, 2011 at 8:55 AM
Yeah, I wish I could watch TV in the morning if it weren’t infomercials. Unfortunately I gotta be in at 7-7:30 and have to wake up around 5:45-6:15.
July 20th, 2011 at 8:56 AM
there were some haggard bitches in that undercover prostitution article.
July 20th, 2011 at 8:56 AM
SEC media days starts today. COLLEGE FOOTBALL IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER!!!!
July 20th, 2011 at 8:56 AM
rex, what are you saying? that 8 in 3500 is not bad, or way too much?
didn;t read the link but i’m guessing it’s a story merely because it’s a national park where folks go to have fun/see sights and it costs them their lives. if we had 8 people die at america’s amusemment parks, that would be a huuuuuuge story
i’m guessing a bear or two, somme bad decisions, bad prep, weather has caused the deaths.
July 20th, 2011 at 8:57 AM
That burn victim story was some powerful stuff.
July 20th, 2011 at 8:57 AM
i thought that said “with king diamond” which would’ve been way cooler.
July 20th, 2011 at 8:57 AM
Denise Richards in her prime. Yowza.
July 20th, 2011 at 8:58 AM
Well, yeah, but Yosemite is the wilderness. The word “wild” means something. Like, “don’t treat this like your backyard or the park down the street, these rides don’t have attendants and seat belts”
July 20th, 2011 at 8:58 AM
It’s called humidity…it fucking sucks.
July 20th, 2011 at 8:59 AM
well…
close enough, right?
July 20th, 2011 at 8:59 AM
I think the Rod Belding episode was on yesterday. nice little run they are putting together.
July 20th, 2011 at 8:59 AM
funny how folks jump to help murdoch and are outraged. no i don’t think it’s a nice way to treat an ancient human, but let’s not act like the dude hasn;t stretched the boundaries of good behavior
July 20th, 2011 at 8:59 AM
This same front office also traded Garza and Bartlett for Delmon Young. Bill Smith should just sign players and not make trades.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:00 AM
Was a sight to behold. Her in Starship Troopers (easily one of my favorite cheesey movies), Wild Things and the shitty Bond movie where her character was named Christmas was her prime.
Then she married Charlie Sheen and it all went downhill…
July 20th, 2011 at 9:00 AM
at least he’s not over extending himself and taking on a mortgage he can’t pay for?
July 20th, 2011 at 9:00 AM
Rico was being a little quitter bitch though. anyways, he scored with the curly haired chick and we all were presented with her cans in that scene so all was well.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:01 AM
The $16 House Guy is probably enjoying the 105* days we’ve had in the Dallas area the past month.
yeah, i am about sick of it. with no breeze, it is uncomfortable. but not too hot for golf. i have a 115 cutoff.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:01 AM
4.5 deaths. we all want to see that half death, right?
July 20th, 2011 at 9:02 AM
I wonder which one is BSanders mom?
July 20th, 2011 at 9:02 AM
Dooley was too worried about the boys showering to give Brown a chance.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:02 AM
hey sc, see matty treanor beat the wsox last night? you probably watched him play a cougars game or two as a yoot
July 20th, 2011 at 9:03 AM
/looks at 10 day forcast
//plays this for tallguy and all other east coasters
July 20th, 2011 at 9:03 AM
like a fucking blanket out there, 95 with 95 humidity. i told the tykes yesterday as we headed to the pool…there are places it gets hotter kids, but i’m not sure it feels a lot different
July 20th, 2011 at 9:03 AM
There are few weather advantages to being in the Northeast, but one of them is that you don’t figure on having to endure 100 degree weather at any point. If you live in say, Fayetteville, Arkansas, this is what you’ve asked for.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:03 AM
i agree, i think a pie in the face humiliation is getting off light.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:04 AM
Dizzy was 29 when that film was made and is now 43. I wonder if she still has those nice cans?
July 20th, 2011 at 9:04 AM
oh hell yea. i wanna see a bunch of guts n’ shit.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:05 AM
damn, 115* is hot. it’s supposed to be 101* tomorrow for our thursday group and it will be brutal.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:05 AM
The real measurement to look at is dew point. If it is anywhere near 70 degrees it’s worse than the tropics. That is the true measurement of unbearable.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:06 AM
oh I know, I’ll have mine this winter when y’all are digging out from 2′ of snow and I am still playing golf. it all evens out.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:06 AM
Eh, maybe. I think it’s more about the steroid era destroying people’s interest in home run records. Thome’s the 5th guy to hit 600 in the past decade.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:07 AM
damn, 115* is hot. it’s supposed to be 101* tomorrow for our thursday group and it will be brutal.
the cart provides some shade and a little breeze, which makes all the difference for me. now if you are walking, then good luck.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:07 AM
All WAS well until an arachnid stabbed her twice through the torso and she died. It was her fault though, she was busy celebrating killing a giant flame beetle with a grenade to its mouth.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:07 AM
We could only hope, but I highly doubt it.
What I love about Starship Troopers is that it’s the movie that holds the record for the most ammunition used. Those guns must have had at least 100 rounds per mag.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:08 AM
I’m a little less pissed about trading Garza. He had stopped listening to the coaches, and was going to throw his fastball and that’s it. Oddly enough, didn’t fly too far. Well, some did.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:08 AM
the sad thing is, the coverage is only marginally less than it was for Griffey Jr, which was far less than sammy sosa.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:11 AM
Lesley Visser, the CBS sideline reporter, is getting married this weekend. She got divorced from announcer Dick Stockton last year after 28 years of marriage. You’d divorce him too if he kept calling you Laura, Leigh and Lauren all the time.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:12 AM
The combo of Denise and Morphine’s soundtrack in that film are the kind of artistic marriage that comes along only once a generation.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:13 AM
Anyone else experience the storm from Weird Science last night? At like 4 AM my dog was freaking out because of all the lightning.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:13 AM
No fucking way was Lesley Visser married to Dick Stockton. I don’t believe it for a second.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:13 AM
No wonder Auburn and Alabama draw so much football talent with hostesses like those available.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:13 AM
my cart bag that I got a couple weeks ago pretty much tells me that I will never walk again unless it is a par 3 course or I have a caddy to carry my shit.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:14 AM
The one season he was there he was a true freshman and ran for 460 yards. Not bad considering he played behind a senior who ran for over 1300 yards.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:16 AM
Jaime King. I went to grade school and junior high with her. She was crazy then and apparently hasn’t changed much.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:17 AM
Just finished the burned kid article. Powerful stuff.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:17 AM
Such an underrated band. God damn, every time I think about Mark Sandman’s untimely death, I get a little teared up. Went wayyyyyy too early. Apparently, a Sandman doc is coming out sometime this year.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:17 AM
SC – you or your parents need to invest in a Thundershirt for Phoebe. Seriously. My BFF’s dog is afraid of fireworks, lightning and thunder. They have her wear the thundershirt and she immediately relaxes. Same with my aunt’s dog. She used to pace and bark and get really nervous and the thundershirt has almost completely stopped her from all her anxious behavior during storms.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:17 AM
More people need to leave notes like this on others’ cars.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:17 AM
That trade would have been awful if it had been Bartlett for Young straight up. Garza ended up being icing.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:18 AM
No fucking way was Lesley Visser married to Dick Stockton. I don’t believe it for a second.
Why is that so hard to fathom? I had an even harder time believing Ric Ocasik married Paulina Porizkova.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:19 AM
What I miss?
July 20th, 2011 at 9:20 AM
Already have one. It only kinda worked last night. She settled down from the noise, but because she could still see all the lightning outside through my window, she was still frightened. She’s just old. I let her sleep in my bed once she woke me up at 4 and I put the Thundershirt on her. Thus, I am dragging ass this morning because I hate sharing a bed with a dog. They never stay in one spot.
OK, I’m dragging ass because I got to see what a Wrigley luxury box and all it’s free beer looked like last night. #humblebrag
July 20th, 2011 at 9:20 AM
Morphine’s soundtrack
Such an underrated band. God damn, every time I think about Mark Sandman’s untimely death, I get a little teared up. Went wayyyyyy too early. Apparently, a Sandman doc is coming out sometime this year.
finally. A band somebody wants to talk about that I actually liked. I will even give you a pass on using the word underrated to describe them.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:21 AM
If that is a slam on Dick Stockton, let’s not pretend Lesley Visser has aged particularly well.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:22 AM
I prefer this one.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:22 AM
SG & SC – I just bought one of those last night for my dog. She loses her mind during fireworks, and now thunderstorms when we’re not home. I’m hoping it works. If it doesn’t, full money back guarantee.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:23 AM
Detroit is probably along the lines of 200 sq miles. I’d say going through Yellowstone at night is like…a walk in the park.
/Puts on sunglasses
/YEAAAHHH!!!
July 20th, 2011 at 9:24 AM
Does this guy know he’s marrying Lesley Visser? Cause she’s kinda unrecognizable these days.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:24 AM
nicely done.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:25 AM
I saw one picture of Lesley Visser where it looked like her eyebrows were close becoming sentient.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:25 AM
Anyone read the consistently awful TJ Simers article about the women’s World Cup loss? Way over the top and he comes across like more of an assh#le than usual. Check it
July 20th, 2011 at 9:25 AM
The BSanders signal worked!!!
July 20th, 2011 at 9:25 AM
No fucking way was Lesley Visser married to Dick Stockton. I don’t believe it for a second.
he’s not that much older than her, actually. I think he originally locked that shit down in the 70′s when she was a young sports reporter. He got really really old, but she’s no spring chicken right now. She’s almost 60, and he’s not yet 70.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:25 AM
Cure For Pain is one of my favorite albums of all time. Definitely wish Sandman was still around.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:25 AM
They work, Hawkeye. If it’s just a thunderstorm and not what I experienced last night, then the dog will be fine. We just had lightning flashes every 2 seconds so that freaked her out.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:25 AM
It’s not like I’m saying Lesley Visser is a hot piece of ass or something. I’m just incredulous over the fact they were a couple and I had no idea. It doesn’t seem possible to me.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:26 AM
Hilarious.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:26 AM
Tim Howard look-a-like randomly runs into Tim Howard in an airport bar.
Pretty uncanny.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:27 AM
This is the kind of note I would leave on a car.
/asshole
July 20th, 2011 at 9:28 AM
It doesn’t seem possible to me
Really? There’s plenty of seemingly odd couples out there, and don’t really think this is one of them. I’m sure Dick Stockton wasn’t always a senile old man. Neither has aged well, but I’m sure they weren’t some hideous trolls when they were younger either. Both work in broadcasting…
July 20th, 2011 at 9:29 AM
Because he’s the hero TBL deserves, but not the one it needs right now. So we’ll joke about him because he can take it. Because he’s not our hero. He’s a silent guardian, a watchful protector. A dark knight.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:29 AM
$3k for a putter? $6,500 for a version of rory’s us open putter?
collectibility often goes way too far. there’s absolutely no way you can justify that kind of shit.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:30 AM
I watched the final Saw last night. What a laughingstock shithole that franchise became.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:31 AM
collectibility often goes way too far. there’s absolutely no way you can justify that kind of shit.
Not too surprising though. Having worked at a golf course and in a golf pro shop before, golf equipment/apparel is insanely overpriced.

I’m going to pull a TBL here, but I’ve never seen any of those movies, and I wear that like a badge of honor. I basically skipped the whole torture porn genre this time, after watching the hills have eyes remake.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:34 AM
apparel def is…there’s no reason shorts and a polo should run you $60 each. but even then…i understand $300 for a really nice putter. that thing will last for a decade. but THAT much? how the fuck can that possibly be justified other than “well, someone will pay it.”
July 20th, 2011 at 9:34 AM

um, who do you think got the raw deal? neither is a prize. good match gone bad i say
July 20th, 2011 at 9:35 AM
Utah’s weird.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:35 AM
This is pretty raycess but I didn’t post it, I only found it. Therefore, I think that doesn’t make me raycess… or something like that. But I did find it quite funny.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:35 AM
First two Saw’s I thought were great. First one alone was fantastic. 3-whatever all jumbled together and I couldn’t tell you the difference between them.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:36 AM
there’s no reason shorts and a polo should run you $60 each
We had polo’s for $119.99…. and that was about 8-10 years ago. Nuts.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:36 AM
Such an underrated band. God damn, every time I think about Mark Sandman’s untimely death, I get a little teared up. Went wayyyyyy too early. Apparently, a Sandman doc is coming out sometime this year.
for my tastes, morphoine’s just ok. but Treat Her Right’s first album makes me feel all gooey
July 20th, 2011 at 9:37 AM
the first one was good, the twist ending is still very well done…with the reveal, editing, the score, etc.
everything after that was terrible. haven’t watched any torture porn movies since saw.
i did watch high tension, though. at least the french version and that was also really, really well done.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:37 AM
Clay – The first Saw was pretty cool because the concept was original. He puts these people in traps as a punishment for their sins. They come out with scars, wounds and sometimes limbless, but they learn lessons. Of course, that’s if they make it out. The whole idea is that he’s not a murderer. I know that sounds shallow, but it makes sense when you watch the movies. They got progressively worse as they went on, and directors, producers and writers all changed to the point were HS film students were the creative minds.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:38 AM
This is pretty raycess but I didn’t post it, I only found it. Therefore, I think that doesn’t make me raycess… or something like that. But I did find it quite funny
I think the watermelon and for sure the KFC bucket were photo-shopped in there… so yeah… pretty raycess.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:38 AM
best torture movie = audition
July 20th, 2011 at 9:39 AM
Does it make me sick that I found House of 1000 corpses and the Devils Rejects hilarious?
July 20th, 2011 at 9:39 AM
But, yeah, Saw were the only torture porn movies I’ve ever seen. I’m only into horror if you’re trying to scare me, not gross me out.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:39 AM
Anyone read the consistently awful TJ Simers article about the women’s World Cup loss? Way over the top and he comes across like more of an assh#le than usual. Check it
gumbel got after the kid glove treatment of the women’s team last night on hbosports with his closing statement
July 20th, 2011 at 9:40 AM
I was always more of a Deliverance guy, myself.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:40 AM
no, i laughed at parts of house of 1000 corpses, too. they weren’t bad films by any means.
but most horror movies these days aren’t creative or original in how they scare the audience.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:40 AM
Fun Saw fact: The character, Adam, from the first film is Leigh Wannell, who actually wrote the movie. He also wrote and starred in Insidious as one of the ghostbuster guys.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:40 AM
What an embarrassment that was.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:40 AM
only if it’s also sick that 8mm is my favorite movie of all time.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:41 AM
Insidious had kind of a neat concept, but the execution wasn’t very good. But it made me jump like no other movie I’ve ever seen.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:41 AM
Re: Utah liquor laws:
“Stiff drinks and doubles are illegal in Utah. Bars and restaurants must use meters on their liquor bottles to make sure they do not pour more than 1.5 ounces at a time. Other liquors can be added to cocktails in lesser amounts, not to exceed 2.5 ounces of liquor in a drink, as long as they are poured from bottles clearly marked “flavoring.”
It is illegal to stiffen a drink with a second shot: under the law a drinker can order a vodka and tonic with a shot of whiskey on the side, but not a vodka tonic with a shot of vodka on the side.”
July 20th, 2011 at 9:41 AM
Yea. after further review it definitely looks photoshopped. Very racist. He probably has a stab wound from a drug deal gone wrong.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:42 AM
Murdoch’s wife looks like she’s got a decent right cross. She also appears to be quite a bit younger than him.
/not following that whole thing very closely
July 20th, 2011 at 9:42 AM
is that horror tho?
/lana, who do i look like? burt reynolds…no, not in deliverance…IN GATOR. how can you not see that?
July 20th, 2011 at 9:43 AM
best torture movie = audition
hard candy wasn;t bad
July 20th, 2011 at 9:43 AM
horror/torture?
*addendum
July 20th, 2011 at 9:43 AM
only if it’s also sick that 8mm is my favorite movie of all time.
Are you for serious?
July 20th, 2011 at 9:43 AM
I’ll have to look for that. I do agree to a degree sense that they’ve been treated almost better than if they had just rolled to a victory, but bashing them as Simers did is unnecessary, at least to me. I like looking at Alex Morgan and Hope Solo isn’t bad either.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:44 AM
SC – Murdoch is 80. His wife is 42. His son, the apparent heir to the throne who was sitting next to him yesterday, from one of his like three other marriages is 38.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:44 AM
But, yeah, Saw were the only torture porn movies I’ve ever seen. I’m only into horror if you’re trying to scare me, not gross me out.
I saw maybe 20 minutes of Turistas go Home, and a few minutes of the one where Eliza Dushku was being chased by hillbillies about something, and then a little bit of a Texas Chainsaw massacre where the pretty girl from Fast and Furious watches the guy from White Collar get tortured to death.
Then I put on some show instead, or went to bed, or did this. So I grasp the concept of the movies, but don’t care enough to watch them.
I think I saw a guy’s toe get cut off in Hostel, and then flipped the channel.
So i haven’t seen torture porn like I don’t watch baseball. No more than half an inning at a time.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:44 AM
well, not my favorite, but def up there. i love it.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:45 AM
“I’d let Hope Solo pee on me.” – A friend of mine during Sunday’s WC final.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:45 AM
Hostel was pretty good. Really fucked but good.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:45 AM
I’ll summarize it for you:
“Bitches be chokas, too. Why can’t we say bitches be chokin? They choked, and I wanna yell about it. Fix me a drink.”
July 20th, 2011 at 9:46 AM
hard candy wasn’t bad
that wasn’t torture porn. And it was kinda weak, and really pedo-rific.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:46 AM
I’m calling bullshit. Your favorite movie has to be Tin Cup. IT HAS TO BE.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:46 AM
The only cool thing about Bryant Gumbel is that he didn’t sue Family Guy for its “Gumbel 2 Gumbel: Beach Justice” spoof.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:47 AM
did you ever see “darkness”? that was good, at least in terms of creepiness.
the descent was just distrurbing but very good. check out Dog Soldiers if you liked that movie and traditional werewolves.
some of my all time favorite horror films:
1. the thing
2. alien
3. texas chainsaw (original)
4. event horizon
July 20th, 2011 at 9:47 AM
i love the golf scenes in that…the rene russo scenes? not so much.
and it’s really strange seeing skinny phil mickelson in that.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:47 AM
my top 5 list of the past 30 years for horror includes Paranormal Activity 1 and The Descent
the former was so fucking tense because you always thought you were about to get jumped, the latter for the claustrophibic atmosphere, great monsters and great ending
July 20th, 2011 at 9:47 AM
Oh dude. You totally missed an opportunity for this here.
/but I appreciate the knowledge drop
July 20th, 2011 at 9:47 AM
fucking love that movie. “where we’re going, we don’t need eyes to see.”
July 20th, 2011 at 9:48 AM
Event Horizon really nails that final scare home. Much like the original friday the 13th. Scared the shit out of me as a kid.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:48 AM
I was a fan of Hostel.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:48 AM
that wasn’t torture porn
ok, you go through a fake nut-cutting first
July 20th, 2011 at 9:48 AM
The Descent was easily one of my favorite theatrical experiences of all time. If they’d kept the original ending for the US release I probably would’ve peed my pants in the theater.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:48 AM
and it’s really strange seeing skinny phil mickelson in that.
This… he looks about 18 years old in that movie. Also, I couldn’t get over how terrible Don Johnson’s golf swing was.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:49 AM
hostel 2 on the other hand…not so much.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:49 AM
I’m not a horror movie fan but I really liked the remake of this movie. Jessica Biel and all that running… The scene where he hangs the dude by the meat hooks, cuts of his legs below the knee and then puts salt on it is pretty vicious.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:49 AM
but I liked Blair With a lot too. talk about a polarizing movie. hate or love, no in-between
July 20th, 2011 at 9:49 AM
Paranormal Activity was definitely scary. I read an analogy somewhere that goes kinda like this: It’s like being in a locked room with a bomb. You know it’s going to go off, but you have no idea when, and you’re fucking terrified while watching it and waiting for it to explode.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:50 AM
my top 5 list of the past 30 years
my bottom five arbitrary list cutoff points includes 30 years ago in the #1 spot
July 20th, 2011 at 9:50 AM
yes, i realize like a lot is between love and hate
anyone here ever seen Motel Hell?
it takes all kinds of critters to make Uncle Vincent’s fritters
July 20th, 2011 at 9:50 AM
yeah, loved the event horizon atmosphere. friday the 13th original did have an awesome scare at the end.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:50 AM
Has anyone here seen The Descent Part 2? Worse than the first, but the ending was cool. Supposed to be a Descent Part 3 coming, or at least it was set up for one.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:51 AM
my bottom five arbitrary list cutoff points includes 30 years ago in the #1 spot
with a +/- of 2.5?
July 20th, 2011 at 9:52 AM
costner’s wasn’t half bad…not really good or anything, but worked for the character.
now you want a bad film golf swing? matt damon in bagger vance…just awful.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:52 AM
I think it’s funny when the Asian guy in Revenge of the Nerds drunkenly slurs “hair piiiiiiiiie” just a little too long.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:52 AM
I worked at a golf store back in high school. Clothing was marked up at least 100%. The clubs, balls, etc. weren’t really marked up that much though.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:53 AM
i watched that in my friends claustrophic basement on a massive 70″ TV with great surround sound with the original ending. there was one point towards the end i actually started to laugh at parts, mostly b/c i was uncomfortably tense.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:53 AM
the original ending for the US release
huh? which did i see?
SPOILER ALERT
the one i saw, the last lady had a dream she was out, only to wake and not be.
i’ll see it again gladly if you tell me what to make sure i get
July 20th, 2011 at 9:53 AM
this Descent > the movie Descent
July 20th, 2011 at 9:54 AM
Clothing was marked up at least 100%.
any chance it’s because folks buying there are trapped…someone told them they don;t meet the dress code and have to buy that shit or go home?
July 20th, 2011 at 9:55 AM
i wanted to, then i saw a picture of the cave things and was immediately turned off. the best part of the third one was barely seeing them, and being creeped out/terrified.
also really liked “the ring”. thought it was well done. the second one was crap though.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:55 AM
I get more scared playing some video games than watching horror movies now a days.
/huge pussy
July 20th, 2011 at 9:55 AM
Such a creepy, creepy movie. Really liked it, though.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:55 AM
She gets in the car and the dead homewrecker is sitting in the passenger sit and they smashcut to black.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:55 AM
Am I missing something here? this Groupon seems like an insanely good deal…

July 20th, 2011 at 9:55 AM
now you want a bad film golf swing? matt damon in bagger vance…just awful.
as bad or better than arnie’s?
July 20th, 2011 at 9:56 AM
I think that was the first video game I ever played online with someone else. It was either that, or Warcraft II. Right around that time my folks finally got a 2nd phone line so they didn’t pick up the phone and hear EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:56 AM
The original Resident Evil used to be hard for me to play at night when I was little. Same with Doom for the 32X. Those demons got me.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:56 AM
i don’t know why, but “the thing” video game actually scared me a bit, at least in the first part when you are in the arctic stations.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:57 AM
good call wilheml. the ring was amazimg. the ring, the descent, blair witcch….all had the advantage of being different than any horror we’d seen before (unless you;re a film student/snob)
July 20th, 2011 at 9:57 AM
I dunno man. For $240 I would kinda like some walls and a roof with that bed.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:58 AM
Anyone remember Jurassic Park for SNES? That game scared the shit out of me.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:58 AM
The fact that the original value is only $480 scares me.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:58 AM
Silent Hill & ResEvil 1-4 always did it. Dead Space was pretty scary as well.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:58 AM
Tin Cup > the scenes with Rene Russo, specifically the final hole where he kept dropping and hitting into water, was some of the most annoying and worst acting by a woman ever! I literally was hoping Cheech was gonna walk over to her and drop her with a 3 wood to the head. Would’ve been a better ending.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:59 AM
any chance it’s because folks buying there are trapped…someone told them they don;t meet the dress code and have to buy that shit or go home?
That happened a few times. Although, if you’re dumb enough to wear jean shorts and a t-shirt to a golf course that charges over $75 for greens fees you kind of deserve it.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:59 AM
The Max Payne level with the crying baby and trail of blood wasn’t fun to play in the dark.
July 20th, 2011 at 9:59 AM
About fucking time Dan Snyder got hit back.
July 20th, 2011 at 10:00 AM
Me and my roommate are playing Resident Evil 5, not really ‘scared’ scared about it, but shit that jumps out at me always gives me a jump.
July 20th, 2011 at 10:00 AM
i was a film student snob when i saw them and i still enjoyed them quite a bit, most in my classes did. except for this one guy who always wore an evil dead hoodie b/c he interviewed bruce campbell once and thought he was better than everyone else b/c of it.
July 20th, 2011 at 10:00 AM
Um, not sure if you were joking…but you get a room.
July 20th, 2011 at 10:00 AM
Thank god they finally came up with the simpsons version.
I was always more of a Wolfenstein guy.
/runs around room hitting space bar
July 20th, 2011 at 10:01 AM
Resident Evil 2 was super creepy.
July 20th, 2011 at 10:01 AM
How did they change it?
July 20th, 2011 at 10:01 AM
Is it sad that I still want to play the new one, whenever it comes out? I loved the first two.
July 20th, 2011 at 10:01 AM
I don’t know, man, interviewing Bruce Campbell was one of my life highlights.
#humblebrag
July 20th, 2011 at 10:01 AM
I loved that game. My buddy and I would play for hours during summer breaks.
July 20th, 2011 at 10:02 AM
NO WAY!
/it was a joke
July 20th, 2011 at 10:02 AM
RE5 is fun but really upsetting if you liked the creepiness of 1-4.
July 20th, 2011 at 10:03 AM
Agreed. The pictures look nice, but the place is probably a dump.
July 20th, 2011 at 10:03 AM
RE4 is a creepy as hell game and my favorite of the series. That giant zombie in the town center is insane.
July 20th, 2011 at 10:03 AM
Big fan of Burn notice huh.
July 20th, 2011 at 10:06 AM
I celebrate his entire oeuvre.
July 20th, 2011 at 10:06 AM
I looked on 2 or 3 different travel rating sites…and the ratings were pretty decent. And the $480 price tag is apparently accurate, as booking directly thru the resort they have rooms available at $120/night.
I’m not that concerned about how nice it is…I can get my value for $60 night all inclusive just via the booze.
July 20th, 2011 at 10:06 AM
bsanders – are you still watching Covert Affairs?
I’m starting to get bored of it. Last season was decent summer TV, but now it’s kind of annoying crap.
July 20th, 2011 at 10:06 AM
anyone who signed up for Master’s tickets get chosen? I sure as shit didn’t.
July 20th, 2011 at 10:06 AM
Honestly, it’s the first RE game either of us has played. Story is a little lost on us, but gameplay is still pretty fun.
July 20th, 2011 at 10:07 AM
I found the Bioshock games to be extremely creepy.
July 20th, 2011 at 10:08 AM
Speaking of videogames, Bungie turns 20 this month. That makes me feel ridiculously old.
July 20th, 2011 at 10:08 AM
Oh yeah. I hated going through those buildings. I loved the little info boxes though throughout the park that spoke to you. “Dr. Grant, the raptors have escaped!”
July 20th, 2011 at 10:08 AM
Nah, missing two months of TV has forced me to really trim up the hedges, so to speak. I still haven’t started Game of Thrones or season two of Treme yet. I cut White Collar, too. I’m still watching Suits, not because it’s especially good, but because I’m a huge sucker for the “I got knocked into a different life” tagline.
July 20th, 2011 at 10:09 AM
i was a film student snob when i saw them and i still enjoyed them quite a bit, most in my classes did. except for this one guy who always wore an evil dead hoodie b/c he interviewed bruce campbell once and thought he was better than everyone else b/c of it.
i meant film snob/student as in maybe those movies were copying some obscure flick by bunuel from the 50s
July 20th, 2011 at 10:11 AM
Not as old as Zelda being 25 years old this year…
July 20th, 2011 at 10:11 AM
I don’t know, man, interviewing Bruce Campbell was one of my life highlights.
i bet. SkyHigh is/was so good
July 20th, 2011 at 10:12 AM
I’ve yet to start Game of Thrones, either.
Nice link the other day about “disappearing,” by the way.
July 20th, 2011 at 10:12 AM
I have not played a Zelda game since N64. Is that one for the Wii any good?
July 20th, 2011 at 10:14 AM
Time to put Piper out to pasture.
July 20th, 2011 at 10:15 AM
Zing! I see what you did there.
July 20th, 2011 at 10:16 AM
Solid, not as good as Ocarina. The Zelda game for the Gamecube (Windwaker) actually has held up amazingly, and looks better than a lot of games that are released today.
/Ocarina & Link to the Past are still the best Zelda games
July 20th, 2011 at 10:16 AM
I dropped Falling Skies and True Blood, too. That whole redneck rape train was too much for me. It’s basically Baywatch for women, at this point. Which is fine, but I’ll keep that 50 minutes a week. I’d cut bait on Rescue Me, too, but it’s too close to the end and I’ve wasted too much time. I have to see it through.
July 20th, 2011 at 10:20 AM
Someone with Insider want to tell me how the hell this concludes? I just can’t see the comparison being accurate.
July 20th, 2011 at 10:21 AM
I am holding on to True Blood just for Jessica.
July 20th, 2011 at 10:23 AM
I’m still waiting for my email from them. Maybe I’ll gt good news?
July 20th, 2011 at 10:32 AM
anyone here ever seen Motel Hell?
Starring the great Rory Calhoun, the guy who’s always standing and walking.
