Dodgeball and Kickball Leagues Look Out: There’s a Skee ball League in Boston
Skee ball, by far, was my favorite game to play at Chuck E. Cheese back in the day. (A closer runner up: Air hockey.) Like UNO, chess and ping-pong, I was fairly dominant at Skee ball as a youngster. Frankly, I’m surprised more bars don’t have the game in them.
I frequently take glee in knocking Boston, but for a moment, I’ll give Beantown a pass because it is home to a Skee ball league. Very cool. Three dollar Rolling Rocks and Skee ball? If you can get Wonder Years playing on a loop on one TV, and an All-80s jukebox, this could be the coolest place in the history of Massachusetts. [via Boston.com]

that’s just asking for trouble if you set those up in a bar.

You aren’t from NY are you?

This was funny.
Sidenote: I have never played the game of UNO before and have no idea what the rules are.

Pop-a-shot > Skee ball, without question.

Not really any different than pool balls

This is my feeling about tabletop shuffleboard. Should be a requirement in all bars.

Bubble hockey should be everywhere.

This.

speaking of bar games type shit…i think it’s straight up preposterous that we can send satellites out millions of miles into space and yet we can’t figure out how to make a non-malleable ping pong ball.

What in the hell is wrong with you?
July 20th, 2011 at 1:14 PM
There’s only one bar near me that has one of those. I’m always one of the very few people that play it.

Vlad, during my freshman year of college, there was a bubble hockey game in one of the student centers. It was rarely unoccupied. Sadly, it went away after that year

Just played on Saturday. Does anyone play the way if someone puts down a Draw Four and the next person has a draw four they can put it down and it accumulates? We had someone that had to Draw 12 on Saturday. She was pissed and said we made up rules.

I didn’t mean it as that severe, but for someone to go without playing UNO seems really sad.

Played two intense rounds with my son just last night. Love making him pick up more cards just as he’s getting close to winning! And Wallace, we tried that way – where you accumulate pickups – but it got a little ridiculous so we stopped.
Absolutely agree. I want to track one of these down and have it at home.

how to make a non-malleable ping pong ball.
If it were any denser or heavier, you wouldn’t have the same spin or rotation. Plus they could take an eye out.

That place is also the official PSU alumni bar of Boston, so they are obviously classy.

all sorts of varieties at amazon.com.

Love UNO. Everyone seems to play a slightly derivative version of the rules anyway. In the couple of years after college, UNO became a drinking game at times (i.e.–drink on a Draw card, in addition to taking cards, drinking for not saying “Uno” when you had one card left, etc.).
Would love to own one of these.

im sure there’s some sort of synthetic material that can be a suitable replacement…kind of like titanium for metal alloys and whatnot.
this is a god damned leftist conspiracy designed to prop up the ping pong ball industry. fucking lobbyists.
