True, but Mills is just working with what he has. Which is not much. He will get blamed for this though it’s Wade’s fault for some of his half-baked signings and even more than that it’s McLane’s fault for micro-managing the team and refusing to sign draft picks if they asked for what he thought was too much. And it’s McLane’s fault for hiring Wade who is a ‘yes man’.

Next season we’ll be going in a new direction. I don’t see Wade lasting much into the off season and Mills will not be retained after his contract runs out after the season. Though my preference would be to see Wade go and Mills stay.

but isn’t part of the context that it was the US that was in the finals? if the finals had been Japan and anyone else do you think ratings would have even been half of what they were? people love ‘Merican sports, especially on the international scene. that is the context I am looking at.

No, that’s spinning the facts to support one’s opinion.

Context is that the World Series is 4-7 games long and that prior to the Brazil match 90% of the U.S. didn’t know the Women’s World Cup was even occurring. Salient wins tend to attract attention over the long run, particularly when there is no OTAs or minicamps going on in football and baseball is just getting back from the All Star Break.

I can’t stand women;s soccer or soccer in general but I watched both world cups and rooted pretty hard for the US in both of them. I also watched the Gold Cup final between USA and Mexico. Outside of that I can’t stand the sport.

12:43. I fell asleep in the 15th. Ended an inning later. Rays kept swinging at everything. They were destined to lose that game. I think from the 9th inning on, the Red Sox had one inning where they threw more than 8 pitches.
