It goes without saying we feel terrible for the kid and his family. Unfortunately, we probably won’t hear about the kid again, but Josh Hamilton will be in the public eye going forward. I would be surprised if he plays today or the rest of the weekend. He’s a sensitive, unusual guy, no doubt. I just feel bad for SportsGal’s husband. She sounds like she’s as much fun as a proctology exam

and the wife(or the mother) who saw this terrible tragedy, think about her also, now i know his son saw everything also, if i was the president of the team i will collect money for helping this little boy( for school fund etc…)

Jesus sportsgal, you really think everyone is feeling sorry for pool old ball player and not the kid’s family? Come on, think about it. Seems pretty much a given that this is among the most awful things that could happen to a young boy. Kind of goes without saying, but thanks for blasting everyone who didn’t say it anyway.

I’m not saying building codes are at fault here, because it was a freak accident… but I’ve always wondered why railings aren’t required to be higher… codes seem so overly-protective for everything else. There’s a big high-rise apartment building in Madison that has balconies…. the railings barely made it past mid-thigh on me, and I’m not freakishly tall or anything. I could easily see someone who’s had a few beers leaning on it, losing their balance and falling 12-15 stories. In fact, I’d be shocked if it didn’t happen eventually; given the amount of alcohol that’s consumed in those apartments.

Anyways, the shot of the little guy with his glove looking down is just about the worst thing I’ve seen in a long time. Just terrible.

Well in that case you were pointing out something that is obviously wrong and silly to even think.

It’s silly to think three comments saying “I feel sorry for Josh Hamilton” don’t imply that people are thinking about Josh Hamilton moreso than the boy whose dad just died?

Go ahead and say a prayer for poor Josh Hamilton. But maybe you could include Shannon Stone’s family and his son that watched his dad die in your prayers too.

4 feet would be enough…30 inches just seems fucking retarded.

pretty sure the 30″ is something that was put forth by the ADA, or a similar institution. there main concern is disabled and young children. when I was in school the standard was 36″ I believe.
