The Dirk Party Train is Still Going Strong
Dirk Nowitzki is having just as much fun celebrating his NBA championship as the Stanley Cup trophy is during its scandalous travels with the Boston Bruins. The notoriously boozy German made his latest (and final?) party stop in his hometown of Wuerzburg to celebrate with what appears to be a crowd larger than the number of extras used in Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones. Dirk was even generous enough to allow his armpit get in on the action and refresh itself with a couple of ice cold beers. Even in celebration, he still shares the beer.
Your sports offerings this evening are… a plethora of baseball games and well, nothing. I’m sorry to say, but Norway took on Equatorial Guinea in the Women’s World Cup at 8:45 this morning. You may now latch onto your favorite Starting Lineup figurine and cry yourselves to sleep.

Creative caption. I like it.
June 29th, 2011 at 7:05 PM
Nice caption…ready for the pitching abortion in the Phillies-Red Sox game tonight. Let’s do it.
June 29th, 2011 at 7:07 PM
Big Time Timmy Jim is must see TV. Boston vs. Philly should be interesting for the Gonzo/Ortiz “defense” also.
June 29th, 2011 at 7:09 PM
So there are apparently pictures of Kanye West’s on again, off again girlfriend diddling herself on Egotastic.
June 29th, 2011 at 7:12 PM
Nice find on eBay. Were you looking for Paul O’Neil when you found it?
June 29th, 2011 at 7:16 PM
I ain’t sayin she a cooter diddler..
June 29th, 2011 at 7:17 PM
Why yes, there are.
June 29th, 2011 at 7:20 PM
My first reaction is that she looks great then I saw that last pic and now I think she can take on a soup can with no problem.
June 29th, 2011 at 7:21 PM
Slow clap for Paul Kariya. He still has brain damage? Jesus.
June 29th, 2011 at 7:29 PM
Explains why she’s with a black guy, I guess?
June 29th, 2011 at 7:37 PM
And here starts the Lackey abortion…
June 29th, 2011 at 7:38 PM
/slow claps for Kariya
I’m also disappointed that Pat Burns was not elected to the hall of fame. Very happy for Eddie the Eagle, but Burns should have be put in. Also, this Lackey guy already sucks.
June 29th, 2011 at 7:39 PM
I see the featured stories up top are still perpetuating a narrative driven by ratings numbers that are in no way comparable. That post was worse than the Rose Bowl one.
June 29th, 2011 at 7:41 PM
I think it’s just to spite you SC
June 29th, 2011 at 7:42 PM
I think it’s fair to say that SC is flagrantly racist
June 29th, 2011 at 7:51 PM
The Cubs released Doug Davis today, guess they didn’t like what they saw from him yesterday?
June 29th, 2011 at 7:53 PM
I liked how there was no post the day the ratings story came out that game 7 of the SCF was the most watched hockey game in like 30 years. Wouldnt want hockey to be portrayed in a positive light around here or anything.
June 29th, 2011 at 7:55 PM
2 1/2 innings and only 1 run between the Sox and Phils?
Cookie Monster does not approve
June 29th, 2011 at 7:55 PM
I liked how there was no post the day the ratings story came out that game 7 of the SCF was the most watched hockey game in like 30 years. Wouldnt want hockey to be portrayed in a positive light around here or anything.Hey guys, did you see the ratings for the NBA finals? Through the roof! Man baseball sucks
June 29th, 2011 at 7:56 PM
You know, I was OK that there wasn’t a ratings story, Ceej. CRM portrayed hockey in a great light all season long. Just didn’t like yesterday’s post because numbers were cherry picked to make hockey look bad and elevate the status of our men’s soccer team.
I don’t hate soccer. I just don’t care about it. When you poop on the sport I like, then I will enter a soccer thread and be combative about it. Steve Lepore (Puck the Media) was going OFF on Duffy on Twitter. He was livid.
June 29th, 2011 at 7:56 PM
woah, Sabres acquire rights to Ehrhoff from the Islanders
June 29th, 2011 at 7:58 PM
I dont really care for any national team
June 29th, 2011 at 8:00 PM
Making me concerned that he’s just a hot potato now and teams are going to keep trading his rights for picks. I think Mike Gillis sending him from Vancouver to NYI was a big ole “FUCK YOU” because he was demanding so much money. One of the few Mike Gillis things I’ve actually liked. Ehrhoff showed his true colors. He doesn’t really want to win or he would have stayed in Vancouver. He just wants to get paid.
Sabres have Myers and Leopold, plus they acquired Regehr. Only way Ehrhoff stays there is if they move Regehr I think. Besides, they gotta pay Myers after this year and I don’t think you want Ehrhoff making #1-2 D man money and playing on your 2nd pairing.
June 29th, 2011 at 8:02 PM
yeah, I doubt they’ll trade Regehr. Hot potato it is.
Hey I like playing hot potato
/lebron’d!
June 29th, 2011 at 8:02 PM
Can understand that. But I bet if the USMNT made the World Cup semis or the final, you and I would both watch. Did you watch the Gold Medal game in 2010 for men’s hockey at the Olympics? Just curious, Texans.
June 29th, 2011 at 8:03 PM
Someone want to give me a scouting report on this Worley kid? Never seen him before.
June 29th, 2011 at 8:05 PM
All I know about him is that he’s got Adrian 0-2 and I’m not happy.
June 29th, 2011 at 8:05 PM
here’s my scouting report. a big middle finger to any red sox player who can’t get a fucking homer in this ballpark
June 29th, 2011 at 8:06 PM
goodness, interleague can’t be over fast enough. This is some bullshit. They go for 14 against the Padres and can’t do jack shit the rest of the way
June 29th, 2011 at 8:06 PM
Ive seen him tons the past few years in Reading. He was like, consistently awesome. Phillies kinda messed him up when they first called him up, switching him from spot starting to bullpen to sending him back to triple A. I think he’ll be solid.
June 29th, 2011 at 8:08 PM
Agree with cj, he’ll be a solid number 4/5 and will be good back of the rotation player until the young guns are up from high A.
June 29th, 2011 at 8:08 PM
Sounds like he’s Kyle Kendrick’s #1 enemy then, CJ.
June 29th, 2011 at 8:09 PM
Work this pitch count! Get to the depleted bullpen, dammit!
June 29th, 2011 at 8:10 PM
I think it was last week, Magary (between tired masturbation jokes and pretty good satirical posts) said something meaningful like, “It is a bummer when after a team wins a championship, the coach will say something about hunkering down and getting ready for next year right after he accepts the trophy. Fuck those guys. I’m partying.”
I could not agree more. Party on, Dirk.
June 29th, 2011 at 8:10 PM
Time for Howard to take his head out of his ass and hit a homer.
June 29th, 2011 at 8:11 PM
I know nobody cares at all, but I just had to toss it out there that so far today my guys are a nice hot 2/23 and hitting .146 for the week. Thank God for my pitching staff…
June 29th, 2011 at 8:12 PM
Lackey putting a good effort out there and the offense can’t do shit for him
June 29th, 2011 at 8:13 PM
I think I was in NY at the time for a training course so I didnt get a lot of time to do anything else but study
June 29th, 2011 at 8:13 PM
Colby Rasmus appears to have remembered he’s a good hitter again. I do appreciate that.
Man, there isn’t a single catcher in fantasy baseball worth a damn right now. Matt Wieters has been serviceable but trying to trade for a McCann, V-Mart or Avila is just way to high an asking price.
June 29th, 2011 at 8:15 PM
Pussy…I got Avila from my step dad for a 21st round pick and Ruiz…although he has V-Mart, so it’s not a big deal for him, but I just raped him on that trade.
June 29th, 2011 at 8:18 PM
Avila and V-Mart are owned by the same person in my league. He’s got one at UTIL, other at catcher. It’s the lone position on my roster where I consider my player to be a negative. It happens.
Getting Victorino for Neftali Feliz and Michael Brantley last week was my steal.
June 29th, 2011 at 8:21 PM
That’s a pretty nice deal there SC. Neftali is so streaky, I wouldn’t trust him.
I did a trade for Aramis, G Beckham (fuck him), Homer Bailey and a 21st rd pick for Scott Baker last week. Aramis has been red hot since I traded for him.
June 29th, 2011 at 8:21 PM
It’s official, Words With Friends is mobile only. I feel so left out.
June 29th, 2011 at 8:22 PM
I could not agree more. Party on, Dirk.
Dirkules! Dirkules!
I just sent this 37 minute video to TSH to embed, if he wants to. It’s all in German, from I guess earlier today.
This guy really has the weight lifted, and it’s so nice to see.
June 29th, 2011 at 8:24 PM
What the fuck…Lackey with an RBI double? Terrible.
June 29th, 2011 at 8:24 PM
Dempster already in some trouble in the 1st against the Giants.
Yeah, I liked that trade. I have Joel Hanrahan as my other closer and Lidge is on my DL so I’m hoping he comes back around the break and gets inserted right into the closer’s role. Toronto’s Frank Frank will have to hold the other spot until Lidge is ready. I occasionally put Jonny Venters in there just for WHIP, ERA and K/9. He’s gotten rocked in two of his last three outings though. Braves are pitching him like 4 of 5 days, need to give him some rest.
June 29th, 2011 at 8:25 PM
LACKEY!!!!!!!!!!
June 29th, 2011 at 8:28 PM
It’s nice to see dirt be able to celebrate a team. The Cowboys haven’t exactly been easy on the psyche since I’ve ‘known’ dirt. And since you don’t really care about baseball, I can’t imagine that the Rangers last year provided much of any lift, either.
June 29th, 2011 at 8:28 PM
Wow awesome lackey!
June 29th, 2011 at 8:29 PM
Now, normally this would be followed by CJ throwing her laptop off her, the remote being hurled at the television and another drink being poured. Instead, this is a joyous LACKEY!!!!!!!! exclamation.
June 29th, 2011 at 8:30 PM
You know it, SC.
/Tito pencils in Lackey to play RF tomorrow
June 29th, 2011 at 8:31 PM
Thanks to the phillies for a short 7 pitch inning for lackey.
June 29th, 2011 at 8:35 PM
It’s nice to see dirt be able to celebrate a team
yeah, i’ve been pretty happy lately, despite several fiascoes around here, and the mysterious disappearance of my wife, and her being replaced by a miserable doppelganger with a potbelly.
June 29th, 2011 at 8:35 PM
SC,
I didn’t mind the HHOF inductions this year. Shame that Clare Drake was passed over, the game owes him a great debt, hope he gets recognized while he is still with us.
June 29th, 2011 at 8:36 PM
Sounds strangely familiar.
June 29th, 2011 at 8:37 PM
I don’t dislike the inductions, Geez. Just because Burns’ death is so fresh in my mind, that’s why I want him in.
June 29th, 2011 at 8:40 PM
If you’re still around Geez, what do you think the odds are that Burkie uses that 48 hours he’s been granted and signs Talbot? I really want Max in Chicago and the Pens giving his rights (Bob explained it, I know it’s kinda funky how they did it) Toronto hurts our chances.
It’s all but assumed that Brent Sopel is going to be Stan’s d-man signing. You know that makes me happy.
June 29th, 2011 at 8:46 PM
I thought I saw that the Leafs window had closed? Talbot wants to go to July 1 so he can play teams off against one another to drive up the price. Someone’s going to overpay, hope it’s for a short term.
Sopel will be a decent 3rd pairing guy. Still not sure what the Oilers are going to do, likely looking for depth as top 2 lines of Smyth/Gagner/Hemsky and Hall/Horcoff/Eberle are at least NHL caliber.
June 29th, 2011 at 8:54 PM
Check Bob’s timeline. The RDS report was wrong, he cleared it up. They apparently have 48 hours starting on July 1 to exclusively negotiate with him. Which makes me think that Richards is 100% going to NYR. Burke is focusing his energy elsewhere.
June 29th, 2011 at 8:59 PM
There’s no embed option, but it was enjoyably weird.
June 29th, 2011 at 9:03 PM
They apparently have 48 hours starting on July 1 to exclusively negotiate with him.
Are you sure? Because this doesn’t make sense, as of July 1 he is an unrestricted free agent, Pittsburgh won’t own his rights and therefore cannot allow the Leafs a 48 hour window.
June 29th, 2011 at 9:04 PM
Found this from Mackenzie’s timeline:
“Talbot’s 48 hour window to negotiate with TOR has expired, PIT still owns his rights. And that’s where we’re at right now.”
June 29th, 2011 at 9:17 PM
I thought the phillies bullpen was screwy

Philly 1PM start. Woo! Lets go Lester. Shame Boston couldn’t get more runs for Lackey. He pitched well
June 29th, 2011 at 10:23 PM
I don’t think I’ll be doing any work tomorrow between 1pm and 4pm anyway.
Lackey pitched extremely well, just left a high curve up to Rauullll.
June 29th, 2011 at 10:29 PM
Roll Tribe.
June 29th, 2011 at 10:36 PM
Boston cannot get to houston soon enough
June 29th, 2011 at 11:07 PM
I’ve heard that from a lot of places. I still will get to it sooner or later.

From TSN:
The Chicago Blackhawks have acquired the negotiating rights to defenceman Steve Montador from the Buffalo Sabres for a seventh-round pick in either the 2012 or 2013 draft.
The deal was announced Wednesday

Anyway, I’m drunk off my ass off of Jim Beam Rye whiskey and am reading Duffy’s soccer thread. Pandora is really coming through for me, and I’m happy.
