My issue is comparing the earnings of a middle to late aged professional who has most likely worked very hard for many years to reach the pinnacle of their career with the compensation for some 18 year old who can run fast.

Should the 18 year old get a little more, maybe, should he be making millions, hell no.

He’s railing against a given human tenant in our society right now. As I mentioned, people at the top are bilking their systems for all they can get. You look at high profile ADs, they get cars and country club memberships as part of their contracts. They get to travel to cool places and rub elbows with other big shots. It’s the way of the world right now. But do you think the 3rd level sports info director at the department is driving around in an unleased porsche? Please. For someone who grew up down the road from Isiah Thomas, duffy sure doesn;t have a grip on how the upper tier operates.

And what is his solution? Pay the players with money the athletics’ departments don’t have? I am fully behind letting players collect something from the use of their images, but overall that will be a small bit in contribution to the cost of attendance they are already getting.

It’s fine that the people who look like me and come from a similar socioeconomic background to me profit blatantly. Yet, I’m supposed to be outraged by a star football or basketball player, likely poor and black, taking a trip to Miami or California or meeting with a prospective agent who is going to handle his obvious financial future? A player accepting $3,800 worth of goods and services is the system’s bane when Butch Davis, a public employee, makes more than $2 million per year? That’s ludicrous. Rant over.

When the NCAA vacates the wins does it also ask for the bowl money back?

I’ve wondered this as well, I think in basketball teams like Memphis and Michigan had to give back Tournament money but because bowl games are independent of the NCAA I’m not sure
