That may be a reason he is leaving/being shown the door, he’s been harping on how we need to change the direction of our defense strategy and obviously the politicians and their corporate friends don’t want to hear it.

Gates is also sick of being in government service. He doesn’t do it out because he enjoys it, he does it out of a sense of duty. Bush asked him to be Secretary of Defense while Gates was President of Texas A&M; a position which he has since referred to as his “dream job”. And he left it for the greater good. And then when asked to stay on by Obama, he did so for a further two years. All while his family resides on the other side of the country.

I can’t think of anyone more deserving of retirement from government service than him.

It’s not illegal to be anything in this country except a murderer, thief, liar (under oath), or an otherwise malcontent. But that hasn’t stopped large swathes of American citizens from being denied some manner of right or another in complete defiance of the founding principles of this nation.

conversely, “separation of church and state” hasn’t stopped retarded politicians from trying to snatch votes from stupid people who think that creationism and intelligent design have a place in a state’s public education.

and i hear you loud and clear…it’s total bullshit two gay people can’t marry. im not arguing that in the slightest. i just think we need to clean up the policy making body first, that’s all.
