The fuck? That’s ridiculous TBL. If you take away the most popular/publicized/visible/interesting team ratings were lower in MLB? If we replaced Miami with the Celtics or Bulls or God forbid, Orlando, what do the ratings do then…

The talent in the league at that time was very top-heavy. Sure there was transcendent players, but there was a sharp dropoff from there. Monta Ellis would have been playing in the 93 all-star game (Dana Barros made the roster in 1995!). Also note that the list of guys left off this year included Steve Nash, Aldridge, Chris Paul, and Zach Randolph.

You make a team with the best players from any year from 91-98 in the league at that time and have them play 10 games against the vest 12 now, the 90s players win 8 out of 10.

I’d rather watch better top heavy games than less skilled but deeper ones.

Go on basketballreference.com and peruse the team rosters during the Jordan era. Tons of crap. More crap than not. Juwan Howard actually made an All-Star team. The year after Jordan left to play baseball, the Central Division was won by a team led by Mookie Blaylock and Dikembe Mutombo.

Jordan was a transcendent player, but the league at that time sucked.

The conference semis hurt the NHL this year. If the Wings hadn’t come back, they would have really sucked.

That was a strange round. I remember being concerned the Canucks would be the last team to get through and they held a 3-1 lead at the time. The Wings coming back really helped vancouver, no doubt.
