one vote for agreement with RS’s #1
June 3rd, 2011 at 8:10 AM
I don’t know what makes the divisions “silly”, but I’m in favor of this move. However…
Probably one of the least insightful things I’ll read this month (not surprising from that source, though). Completely and utterly misses the point. Getting rid of the divisions is not focused on the SEC tournament —which this piece of tripe focuses on — but rather it is focused on increasing the schedule to 18, 20, or 22 conference games, and a more balanced conference schedule for all teams.

one vote for agreement with RS’s #1
yeah, Sk8er Boi is a really good song.
June 3rd, 2011 at 8:15 AM
I must’ve missed that whole entire thing. How fucking long were she and Sean Penn together?

Any particular reason why you went with a dude for the round up pic, TBL?
June 3rd, 2011 at 8:27 AM
I, personally, like most of his stuff. Haven’t seen “Limitless” yet, and am one of the few that actually enjoyed both Hangover 1 and 2. Kitchen Confidential a few years back was pretty awesome, but I might be biased because it’s about my profession.

high school fights are now posted on YouTube?
In high school my locker was down by the automotive wing. I probably saw a pretty decent in school every month. They are hilarious to think about now. Some guy getting thrown up against the lockers and haymakers galore, with only a few usually catching a piece of somebody.
June 3rd, 2011 at 8:41 AM
Great thanks. I’ll have 6 hard shell Taco Supremes and a Diet Coke.

June 3rd, 2011 at 8:42 AM
haymakers galore, with only a few usually catching a piece of somebody.
Or they would conclude with the combatants rolling around wrestling on the ground. I don’t remember many fights in high school ending with any serious injuries.

June 3rd, 2011 at 8:49 AM
Can’t agree with RS’s #1. Hey-zeus that’s rough. Greatest song of all time by someone whose singing is, shall we say, subpar? Personally, I’ll take What’s Going On and Good Vibrations as my best two out of that Top 10.
June 3rd, 2011 at 8:49 AM

June 3rd, 2011 at 8:51 AM
The Third Man is one of my favorite movies ever. Harry Lime is brilliant.
Random bit of nothing: every night when I have to work late, I take a stroll through the Minneapolis skyway. Last night I counted 7 iPad 2 ads on the walls, 8 if you count the gigantic billboard. All of the same picture. Creepy and weird.

For starters, he won’t shut the fuck up about a joke I made when I told him “your opinion is wrong” when he was talking about the Mavs offense being boring during the WCF.
I would say it’s a case of an obvious troll being obvious, but after last night I learned that he’s actually sincere with everything he says.

However, TBL, he did say that “McIntyre changed the way I use the internet.” So there’s that.

I wouldn’t worry too much more about 3rdman, though. He has a career and life to worry about- can’t be spending all his time on here.

After looking at a couple of links, I now understand the buzz over Blake Lively. Her surgeon should be proud.
June 3rd, 2011 at 9:02 AM
Wow, the Heat fucking blew it last night.
Also, isn’t the Rolling Stone list just an updated version of their previous list? “Like a Rolling Stone” was the previous #1. I’d be down with “Good Vibrations” getting the nod but it’s at #6.
June 3rd, 2011 at 9:02 AM
After looking at a couple of links, I now understand the buzz over Blake Lively. Her surgeon should be proud.
It never even crossed my mind that she had surgery. If so, yes, yes indeed her surgeon should be proud.

I actually know how to ask that. I was just using an example. The verb tense always fucks me in French. Though when I’m in France after a week or so, it always picks back up something fierce. The first week is always rough, though.
June 3rd, 2011 at 9:07 AM
It’s impossible to make a list that people won’t bitch about but I don’t think they chose the best songs from some of the artists in that top 10. Satisfaction is not even close to being the Stones best song.
June 3rd, 2011 at 9:08 AM
that rolling stone link is fucking dogshit.
‘imgaine’ no. 3? one of the most overrated songs of all time.
June 3rd, 2011 at 9:08 AM
‘respect,’ ‘hey jude’ and ‘good vibrations’ should be higher.
June 3rd, 2011 at 9:08 AM
Dropped this gem from the archives late yesterday, but I doubt that many people got to see it, so here’s an encore (featuring sportsgal’s adventures in the bank vestibule!):

Just scrolled through the TBLAD thread – literally half the comments were from 3rd man. Awesome.
I’m glad I wasn’t around for that. Funny, coming from a guy who called me a ball hog yesterday and insinuated those who were long time commenters were fucking pathetic.
June 3rd, 2011 at 9:10 AM
Jay V, I read something this morning that they are thinking that without the divisions they will have a better chance at getting teams in the NCAA tournament, and shitty teams from the west won’t be getting a free pass in the conf. tournament, guessing that is where he is going with that. I also heard that the 18 game schedule is close, but they don’t want to go much higher than that since it would cut to many non-conf. home games.
June 3rd, 2011 at 9:10 AM
‘my generation’ is the highest who song? AWFUL. how is it not ‘pinball wizard?’
June 3rd, 2011 at 9:11 AM
Favorite Stones’ song? As a history aficionado (and undergrad history major), I love “Sympathy for the Devil.” That and “You Can’t Always Get What You Want.” Almost impossible to choose one.
June 3rd, 2011 at 9:11 AM
Dropped this gem from the archives late yesterday, but I doubt that many people got to see it, so here’s an encore (featuring sportsgal’s adventures in the bank vestibule!
I said it last night and I’ll say it again: Bank Vestibule? Fucking random. I bet I use the word ‘vestibule’ once every 3 years or so. Gotta do what you gotta do though SG.
June 3rd, 2011 at 9:11 AM
‘london calling’ at 15? get rid of imagine and throw that up there.
June 3rd, 2011 at 9:12 AM
Maybe it’s something with history majors, because that’s my favorite Stones song as well.
June 3rd, 2011 at 9:12 AM
I’d put “Don’t get fooled again” and “baba o’riley” ahead of both of them.
There are also some Beatles songs I’d take over Hey Jude. The way the list is made is ridiculous though, one song per click, completely lame.
June 3rd, 2011 at 9:13 AM
Maybe it’s something with history majors, because that’s my favorite Stones song as well.
Funny, History was also one of my undergrad majors, and that’s probably my favorite Stones song as well, although I’m not the hugest Stones fan.
June 3rd, 2011 at 9:14 AM
James Shields got humanized last night. And by that I mean the Mariners offense made him look mortal again. Another victim of Lisk’s All-Star lists. He’s a on a jinx roll right now.
June 3rd, 2011 at 9:15 AM
baba o’ whatever for sure…
there are WAY too many beatles songs in the top 10.
hendrix’s version of all along the watchtower should be up there too.
June 3rd, 2011 at 9:15 AM
Come on, homie. Guy has to get cash out, so does the girl… takes a few minutes for the machine to spit out the cash. What better way to pass the time then to make out?

June 3rd, 2011 at 9:16 AM
So I went and saw X-men First Class last night with 4 friends. Wasn’t exactly hyped to see it but I was pleasantly surprised with it. Solid movie, good if you have little/no expectations.
One cameo made the whole movie for me though.
June 3rd, 2011 at 9:16 AM
Definitely all of this. That’s my favorite Hendrix song.
June 3rd, 2011 at 9:16 AM
Baba O’Reilly. And for the Stones I’m taking Brown Sugar, Gimme Shelter or Honky Tonk Women.
I miss JPQ.

June 3rd, 2011 at 9:21 AM
Almost a dead heat for me between “Can’t Always get what you want” and “Gimme Shelter”.
Another tough one. Voodoo Chile, Castles Made of Sand, Wind Cries Mary and the toned down version of Angel. Can’t pick one of those over the other.

June 3rd, 2011 at 9:26 AM
‘Time is on my Side’ has always bben one of my favorites from the Stones.
June 3rd, 2011 at 9:26 AM
SRV’s voodoo child > hendrix’s
and also, it’s voodoo child (slight return)…the original voodoo child is REALLY strange. god damn was that a great album…
RIP jimi.
June 3rd, 2011 at 9:27 AM
The music is fantastic in that song. It’s 1b to Sympathy for the Devil in my opinion.
June 3rd, 2011 at 9:27 AM
Fuck. At least have the option for both….I think Time’s website does this.
June 3rd, 2011 at 9:28 AM
Paint it Black due to its awesome use at the end of Full Metal Jacket. Tumbling Dice is my favorite and IMO the most underrated Stones song. Not to say that it disregarded completely – but that it’s underrated.
Barb O’Riley for the Who. E Front is strong as well.
June 3rd, 2011 at 9:29 AM
I don’t think there’s ever been a list Rolling Stone has put out that wasn’t a steaming pile of excrement.
June 3rd, 2011 at 9:29 AM

Never really cared much for Pink Floyd. Not to say they weren’t talented or an inspiration for future musicians, just never really listened to a lot of their stuff.
I think we did the whole get really high and do the Wizard of Oz thing with Dark Side of the Moon when I was a teenager. Other than that, never really was seeking out Pink Floyd music.

It might be blasphemous to say so but I’m not so sure Nirvana’s music has held up so well over the years.

Still have not been to Fenway, would like to go to Lambeau, Camarohead, and Jerry World. I’m doing Toronto this fall but I do want to see Bell Centre. Nothing in the NBA really tickles my fancy. I’ve heard PNC is gorgeous, sadly I went to Three Rivers as a kid. That place was a DUMP.
June 3rd, 2011 at 9:35 AM
Van Morrison version of Comfortably Numb (done with Roger Daltrey) is fantastic.
/Team Van Morrison
June 3rd, 2011 at 9:35 AM
COMFORTABLY NUMB AT THREE HUNDRED AND FUCKING FOURTEEN!!?!?!?!
yeah, thats a joke. i actually get freaked with rolling stone likes an album from a band i like. makes me think it might suck.
June 3rd, 2011 at 9:36 AM
Lists like those make me happy that I’m not a big music connoisseur. I like what I like, pretty much any genre, but probably don’t appreciate the classics as much as I should.
June 3rd, 2011 at 9:36 AM
Any song that includes the line “You make a dead man cum.” deserves special recognition.
June 3rd, 2011 at 9:36 AM
Yes. Geez is Canadian and so are The Guess Who. In fact, I bet they’re big Jets fans being from Manitoba and all. That’s why I called them the Diet Who.
June 3rd, 2011 at 9:36 AM
The Foo Fighters are my favorite band of all time and I think Nirvana sucked. I know that probably does not compute, but I think Cobain was a horrid front man.
June 3rd, 2011 at 9:36 AM
im having a hard time arguing with this, but i want to for some reason.
June 3rd, 2011 at 9:37 AM
I didn’t think it was ever that good to begin with.
/team Pixies
June 3rd, 2011 at 9:37 AM
van morrison is great, but “brown eyed girl” is one of the most obnoxious songs of all time. it’s a shame that’s what he’s best known for.
June 3rd, 2011 at 9:37 AM
It might be blasphemous to say so but I’m not so sure Nirvana’s music has held up so well over the years.
totally agree. pearl jam and soundgarden are way better than nirvana. i like some of nirvanas stuff, specifically unplugged, but most of it sounds lazy.
June 3rd, 2011 at 9:38 AM
All Along The Watchtower is one of the rare times a remake just obliterates the original. Jimi was the shit in every way.
June 3rd, 2011 at 9:38 AM
/team Pixies
Yes sir!
June 3rd, 2011 at 9:38 AM
Domino, Moondance and of course Brown Eyed Girl for this guy. My old man told me that Van Morrison was a notorious asshole though. I’m sure the older generation here can confirm or dispel that.

nirvana’s music holds up better than a lot of grunge bands…breed is a really good song and their unplugged album is truly fantastic.

That one I’m not completely sure of.
Not a huge PF fan but yeah, that needs to be higher.
June 3rd, 2011 at 9:40 AM
great fucking song.
June 3rd, 2011 at 9:40 AM
did you know ‘hey joe’ was a cover too?
June 3rd, 2011 at 9:40 AM
I suppose that is what he’s known for, but I always think of Moondance.
June 3rd, 2011 at 9:41 AM
You can try, but it’s unpossible
June 3rd, 2011 at 9:41 AM
Rolling Stone is garbage.
June 3rd, 2011 at 9:41 AM
I’d also like to go to the College World Series. Don’t really follow college baseball but I’ve always wanted to check that out.
June 3rd, 2011 at 9:41 AM
agreed. the dude who’s office is next to me has it for the ringtone when his wife calls. obnoxious. Tupelo Honey is a nice panty dropper by Mr. Morrison.
June 3rd, 2011 at 9:42 AM
I’m afraid to ask how many shitty ac/dc songs are on that list.
June 3rd, 2011 at 9:42 AM
Always reminds me of American Werewolf in London.
June 3rd, 2011 at 9:43 AM
Can’t stomach perusing that list given its format, but where was the highest Skynyrd song? Gotta be Sweet Home Alabama. Probably would be in the 10-20 range for me.
/Team Skynyrd as well.
June 3rd, 2011 at 9:43 AM
they should just have one because they all sound the same.
June 3rd, 2011 at 9:43 AM
I used to go every year when I lived in Lincoln. It’s a cool atmosphere.
June 3rd, 2011 at 9:44 AM
OK….I have to make sure of something…there’s not a KISS song on that list, right?
June 3rd, 2011 at 9:44 AM
Nevermind holds up very well, as does Ten and Purple, Superunknown and The Colour & Shape do. In Utero doesn’t IMO. I think part of is these albums had angst that required you either having a headset to really get into it, or to turn the volume up a few places past where you’d normally have it.
You put Teen Spirit on and blast that shit and it is as viseral as ever. Same with Ten. You can’t listen to Ten with your kids or wife in the car and just hum along. Get into the Alive solo or scream along to Jeremy where Vedder’s screaming EYE EYE EYE EYE YEEEEAAAAA-HAAA-HAA. That’ll make the hair on your arms stand.
Rock isn’t largely made to be played at comfortable volumes or in a safe place. It’s meant when things are askew or you need release. I say buy a great pair of headphones and plug back in, some of that music is still fantastic and not dated, it’s often the listener that hasn’t held up well.
June 3rd, 2011 at 9:44 AM
I feel the opposite. I listened to some of Bleach and some non-radio songs from Nevermind (Territorial Pissings, Drain You), and I thought they still are great.
PJ is great, but I don’t think anything after Superunknown holds up well for Soundgarden. If Blow up the Outside or Pretty Noose comes on the radio, I’m changing the channel 9 times out of 10.
June 3rd, 2011 at 9:44 AM
Then it should be Thunderstruck, because that song is badass. My brother saw them in concert and said they were awesome.
June 3rd, 2011 at 9:44 AM
I think the one Nirvana song that holds up is “Come As You Are.” I agree that “Smells Like Teen Spirit” went from probably being underrated to incredibly overrated.
June 3rd, 2011 at 9:44 AM
Yes. Geez is Canadian and so are The Guess Who. In fact, I bet they’re big Jets fans being from Manitoba and all. That’s why I called them the Diet Who.
Burton Cummings is a first ballot hall of famer in the mustache wing.
June 3rd, 2011 at 9:44 AM
it was their plane crash that made me such a big fan of gravity*.
‘saturday night special’ is a great skynard song, but three shitty guitarists shouldn’t be trading off solos for 10 minutes like in freebird.
*im joking ballz…settle down

June 3rd, 2011 at 9:46 AM
I heard Hendrix was a one hit wonder. I thought it was crazy but this might explain it
June 3rd, 2011 at 9:46 AM
Then it should be Thunderstruck, because that song is badass. My brother saw them in concert and said they were awesome.
Saw them two summers ago in the football stadium here, they still put on a really good live show. Even if the songs do sound the similar.
June 3rd, 2011 at 9:47 AM
Going to a White Sox game tonight. We’re tailgating too. I am guaranteed to hear Thunderstruck no less than 12 times in the parking lot. The Meth Sox faithful love their AC/DC.
I did go to a show of their’s once. It was entertaining. Strange lineup though. I forget the name of the band that opened for them but they were nothing but pure noise. REO Speedwagon was pretty cool though. As was George Thorogood and the Destroyers.

June 3rd, 2011 at 9:47 AM
HA! KISS… or as I like to refer to them, the older generation’s Lady Gaga.
June 3rd, 2011 at 9:47 AM
hendrix is more like a late 60′s jazz musician than a rock musician. sure he was loud and rocked, but he was rooted in the blues and turned other people’s songs into his own.
June 3rd, 2011 at 9:48 AM
that’s an insult to lady gaga, who actually knows a thing or two about music.
kiss is the mad magazine of the music world.
June 3rd, 2011 at 9:49 AM
I went to a Skynard/Hank Jr. concert a couple years ago in Little Rock. let’s just say the crowd was a lot more entertaining than the music, and I love Hank Jr.
June 3rd, 2011 at 9:49 AM
I’m more of a Van Halen guy if we’re talking 80s
Since I knocked the Rose Bowl off the sports bucket list this year I think a playoff game at Lambeau takes the #1 spot with a World Series game right behind it
June 3rd, 2011 at 9:49 AM
John Petrucci DESTROYED that solo anyways. Holy shit did he blow it out of the water.

June 3rd, 2011 at 9:51 AM
when i heard this the first time i was shocked that it was DT…usually when petrucci tries to play with a soul, it turns out awful. but that was badass.
June 3rd, 2011 at 9:52 AM
my guess is the whole rock and roll thing. rednecks love them some simplicity, like Skynard. the Allmans play actual music, but are possibly a little to “folky” I guess, not sure how to put it.
I guess a better way to look at it is that it is easier to beer bong a bunch of Busch Light to simple man than it is Statesboro Blues.
June 3rd, 2011 at 9:52 AM
van halen deserves more songs in the top 20 than the beatles. jamie’s crying, runnin’ with the devil, panama, unchained…
June 3rd, 2011 at 9:52 AM

Anyone ever been to those big weekend music festivals before? There’s enough of a Chicago contingent here that some of you have had to have attended Lolla before. How is it?
We’ve got one coming here that’s a two day deal headlined by Eminem and Muse. I’ve got my tickets and can’t wait. Gonna be hot as balls though. August 4th and 5th.

i think it has more to do with duane dying so young…his void was way too much to replace.
June 3rd, 2011 at 9:54 AM
I’d love to go to a World Series game… but only if my team were playing in it. Super Bowl is a different story, even if the Packers were in it I don’t think I’d want to go.
Been to Lambeau for Bears/Pack (it was like 3 degrees.. yay!) Rose Bowl, 1st and 2nd Round of NCAA tournament games, NBA Eastern Conference Finals, All Star Game, HR Derby, and I got to fly in the Goodyear blimp over a Marlins game attended by about 400 people.

June 3rd, 2011 at 9:57 AM
Girls Got Rhythm and Long Way to the Top are perfectly cromulent ACDC songs. I think Hendrix is more profound as a revolutionary figure in playing the guitar and as a cultural icon, than owner of a music catalog. He really challenged the status quo.
June 3rd, 2011 at 9:57 AM
sounds like a top fuel dragster at the beginning
June 3rd, 2011 at 9:57 AM
true, but id rather hang out with hagar any day of the week. pretty cool dude when he’s not butchering VH.
June 3rd, 2011 at 9:57 AM
Anyone ever been to those big weekend music festivals before? There’s enough of a Chicago contingent here that some of you have had to have attended Lolla before. How is it?
Summerfest in Milwaukee is probably one of the better ones. It runs 10 days and is really affordable if you’re looking to check out new music. The headliners at the Marcus Ampitheatre are usually top notch as well. I’ve seen The Foo Fighters there twice, Petty, Stevie Wonder, Ben Harper, Pearl Jam, etc…
June 3rd, 2011 at 9:58 AM
Beautiful Girls sounds like it would be fun to play guitar to
June 3rd, 2011 at 9:58 AM
Clearly you have forgotten “KISS Meets the Phantom of the Park”. Cinematic masterpiece.
June 3rd, 2011 at 9:58 AM
Mountain Music festival or some such shit happening up here this weekend. I wanted to go just Saturday to see the Avett Brothers but I’m traveling for work starting early Sunday. I watch a lot of those conerts and festivals on the Palladia channel all the time and the first thing I always think when they show the crowd is “fuck, I would hate being trapped in that sea of humanity.”
June 3rd, 2011 at 9:59 AM
When the Blackhawks are blowing someone out, we get out the jungle drums.
June 3rd, 2011 at 9:59 AM
It’s ok… It depends on what kind of experience you want to have. I like the smaller stages because the sound is better and the crowd is usually more fun. I’m also not that crazy about the 45 minute set. I saw Pearl Jam at Lolla few years ago and it was AMAZING. I’m not even that big of a Pearl Jam fan. They played for 2 hours. I don’t know how Gaga is going to do at Lolla because she can’t have her normal crazy set.
June 3rd, 2011 at 9:59 AM
oh it was terrible. but keep in mind it was in Little Rock, so rednecks were fucking everywhere and they love that shit.
there is one about an hour from here this weekend. supposed to have heat index’s at 100*. those hippies will be a stinking. one of my favorite artists is playing and I am avoiding it for this reason. plus festival shows generally suck IMO, way to short of sets.
June 3rd, 2011 at 9:59 AM
ive been to bonaroo in 2003 and a bunch of 2-day phish shows…it’s pretty brutal if you’re staying there the whole time.
Saw fish at Alpine Valley in ’03 I think. They’re not really my style, but that entire day was just an absolute shit show. I think Trey played Bathtub Gin using parts of a vacuum. I’m not really sure.

When you’re like 23 and under, it’s awesome. After that, it’s a nightmare. I haven’t been since 2003. Just not of the mindset to be paying $10 for a bottle of water and crowded in with a bunch of smelly hipsters now. I do regret not getting to see RAtM or Pearl Jam a few years back though. But now? Kanye West and Lady Gaga do not interest me.
I went to the first Bonnaroo. That was one of the better “big” festivals I’ve been to.
June 3rd, 2011 at 10:02 AM
Saw fish at Alpine Valley in ’03 I think.
Alpine Valley is just an awesome place to see a show, IMO. I saw Radiohead there in ’04 or ’05, and that was incredible. Then of course the obligatory Dave Matthews shows in High School. Those were really more of an excuse to get drunk though.
June 3rd, 2011 at 10:02 AM
If you are going to Lollapalooza this year I endorse indie rock band Delta Spirit. History From Below is one my favorite albums of the past year. Bushwick Blues is the monster track off that album.
June 3rd, 2011 at 10:02 AM
some of that music is still fantastic and not dated, it’s often the listener that hasn’t held up well.
What made Nirvana popular was the fact that they came around and knocked the likes of Poison and Motley Crue off the airwaves. I never thought their music was particularly great and bands like the Pixies did it better a couple of years prior. The Pixies music, in my mind, has aged much better than Nirvana’s.
June 3rd, 2011 at 10:03 AM
Did you see her on Good Morning America a week ago? I think it will be more like that. You’ll probably get to see more of her talent in a stripped down show.
The Black Keys are playing here too. I’m really excited to see them.
June 3rd, 2011 at 10:03 AM
Bonaroo is a mess. Waaaay to hot. Multiple day festivals are only cool if you go in an RV.
June 3rd, 2011 at 10:04 AM
agreed, never been to Red Rocks but want to go there. I saw Phil Lesh and Bob Dylan at Alpine probably 6 or 7 years ago.
June 3rd, 2011 at 10:05 AM
The Van Halen songs from the DLR era were just better than the songs from the Hagar era.
That said, DLR is an assclown.
June 3rd, 2011 at 10:05 AM
Also, The Flaming Lips are playing. I’ve heard some interesting things about their sets and crowd. The people watching will be top notch if nothing else.
June 3rd, 2011 at 10:05 AM
I’m going to get killed by Spencer for saying this but my favorite sets at the first Bonnaroo were Umphrey’s McGee, Jurassic 5, Particle and Norah Jones.
I did not get to see Bela Fleck and the Flecktones though. We were too busy tripping on mushrooms in the cinema tent watching the Bob Marley movie.
June 3rd, 2011 at 10:06 AM
Jurassic 5
Didn’t see that coming. In fact, I forgot they existed.

Best two Alpine shows I’ve been to are Ben Harper with String Cheese Incident and a Jimmy Buffet show. The Buffet tailgate was the best part. Music was merely secondary. Soooooooooo many titties.
Only time I saw more tits as a concert was when RHCP played Naked in the Rain at Summerfest in Milwaukee during a thunderstorm. Boobs. EVERYWHERE.
June 3rd, 2011 at 10:09 AM

you really should’ve seen bela…but i can’t hate on UNT norah jones.
June 3rd, 2011 at 10:10 AM
I’m at the age now where the 20-something preppy people dressed like hipsters and all the teenagers at lolla drive me insane. They don’t give a shit if they step on your hand or spill beer all over you as long as they can shove their way to the front of the stage. I really want to go see all the encore shows at the smaller venues in the city when everyone comes for Lolla but haven’t figured out yet how to get tickets.
June 3rd, 2011 at 10:10 AM
10 cent pistol is one of the many outstanding tracks on Brothers.
June 3rd, 2011 at 10:10 AM
What was that you were saying about not wanting to be around smelly hippies?
June 3rd, 2011 at 10:11 AM
Norah Jones has a great voice. Bela Fleck plays here in Fayetteville about once a year. great show.
June 3rd, 2011 at 10:12 AM
I saw Buffet play at CBP in Philly and I feel like I would have had the same experience if I had just stayed at my tailgate and played the “Greatest Hits” CD rather than go into the show.
June 3rd, 2011 at 10:12 AM
I was 18 and one of those smelly hippies at the time. One of the guys I went with bought some bad acid from another hippie. He did not enjoy his trip.

Not going to lie, I’m a big fan of Norah Jones. She went to UNT, right spence?

as long as they can shove their way to the front of the stage
Some skank shoved her way in front of me about half-way through the Sam’s Town tour of the Killers. I was reduced to dumping a warm beer all over her back – she moved. Not proud of this but it needed to be done. I am not proud of letting that beer get warm either but it was a great show. It was likely meant to be.
June 3rd, 2011 at 10:18 AM
She’s got a part in the Danger Mouse concept album Rome. WHich you can listen to in its entirety on Youtube. Good stuff.
June 3rd, 2011 at 10:20 AM
Yesterday afternoon, a woman was fatally hit by a No. 6 train after she passed out and fell onto the tracks at the 77th Street stop on the Upper East Side. Police say that 21-year-old Bronx resident Fatoumata Diallo fainted, possibly due to the heat, just as a northbound No. 6 train pulled into the station, and was “cut in half”, according to a witness.
Jesus.

I’m afraid to go in Ballin’.
I’m reading the comments, staying away from throwing my opinions about certain players/the actual game out there. You’d get along great with Menarky SC, his unadulterated hatred of LeBron is pretty spectacular.
June 3rd, 2011 at 10:24 AM
“TB Sheets” is Van Morrison’s greatest work….that song is amazing.
Speaking of “covers” by those 60s acts…it’s interesting but those guys used to just take other acts songs, and just remake them. They must not have invented lawyers yet.
And give me “Monkey Man” by the Stones…
June 3rd, 2011 at 10:26 AM
I’ll wait until Yardwork, man. I have a grievance to file with Mr. Lisk for cursing James Shields. I also have some unusual Cardinal joy to share for Colby Rasmus’ big night.
Cubs didn’t play yesterday so I was locked in to watching my fantasy matchups. Didn’t see a minute of the NBA game so I’ll stay out.

It might be blasphemous to say so but I’m not so sure Nirvana’s music has held up so well over the years.
totally agree. pearl jam and soundgarden are way better than nirvana. i like some of nirvanas stuff, specifically unplugged, but most of it sounds lazy.
THIS. And I’ll add that the Alice in Chains unplugged album remains the tits. Any Jeff Buckley songs on the list?
