Dwight Howard Won’t Sign an Extension Before July 1
The NBA’s best center said all the right things about wanting to stay in Orlando earlier in the week. Then a TV report emerged that Howard would be signing an extension with the Magic. Instead of just shouting, ‘ERRONEOUS!’ and waving his hands like Vince Vaughn, Howard said this:
“The biggest thing right now is everybody understands I have one more year left. I’m keeping my options open, but there’s no other place I’d rather be than Orlando. I want them to understand that.”
As difficult as it’ll be for Magic fans to stomach, this has to be the move from Howard. Wait to see what happens with the CBA/lockout. Wait to see what plans Otis Smith has in store for that Orlando roster. Howard can’t re-sign in Orlando right now with the team built the way it is, or his career could quickly wind up on the Patrick Ewing fast-track – great player, great career, but no titles. He is signing in Phoenix. He misses his buddy Gortat.

I’m telling you, Bynum/Odom for Howard.

Is he playing point guard?

Howard? No, but we’ll cross that bridge when we get to it. If we’re not keeping the triangle, maybe Blake/Brown become more serviceable.

Is he going to play for the minimum?
/hard cap coming

I think he’s the type of player that can thrive in a place like Portland where there is less of a spotlight than a place like Los Angeles.

Steve Blake and “thrive” should not ever be in the same sentence.

Tried that already, didn’t take.

Yes, just so he can share in the gloriousness that is winning a NBA title.
/don’t think the union would even allow it

Is there a contest out there for who can make the worst song?

It is for sure a smart move by Dwight to see what the offseason/CBA/lockout brings. Won’t fault him for leaving, as long as he doesn’t act like LeDouche did.

This would be fan-fucking-tastic. Just don’t see the Bulls making a move for him.

If Orlando can get either CP3 or DWill, that might be enough to get him to stay. I don’t know how they could do that though with Arenas and Turk’s horrible contracts. Lakers are in the same boat with Artest/Walton deals. Ugh.

If Gar Foeman is truly in charge of Bulls and not Pax, I’m sure he’s exploring.

Give it the fuck up with LeBron dude, wtf is your problem??

It’s not even fun when you’re mocking him.

That’s not a song. I don’t know what that is, except for a reason to be bomb Norway

no, it’s really not.

Both Howard and Paul are kind of in the same boat: they’re max contract guys looking to team up with some other Top 12 superstar in a major market but none of those teams have the cap space to do that because they’re saddled with some bad deal or other.

Do not feed the troll!! Haha, TBL said he is keeping an eye on him so hopefully that means a banning soon.

That was such a tough read, but I just couldn’t stop. I feel dumber having gone through all 500 of those comments though, just WOW.

It was worse being a part of it, BB. I should have just completely ignored him, but didn’t have the restraint until the thread was almost over.
June 3rd, 2011 at 5:58 PM
I would have probably done the same thing too though, can’t fault you for that.

Substitute another city’s name in for “Orlando” in that quote and it sounds eerily familiar.
