I don’t think the Bible mentions anything about a “journalistic soul” so this is pretty pointless addendum to the post

Well, actually, on the issue of integrity, which is what “journalistic soul” is all about, the Bible has a great deal to say – maybe one should read it a bit more before commenting. Broussard’s Christian faith does provide a compass for him to navigate through difficulties and seek to do so with integrity. Not that he would be perfect but at the least he has a standard to which he strives to comply – that goes deeper than simply policing oneself based on one’s own standards.. That does make a difference.

Bayless has no compass by which he navigates the waters of “journalism” – or should we say, the Jerry Springer For Sports “journalism” (which is essentially what First and Ten has become).

I’d have to be paid (significantly so) to ever watch Bayless debate any proposition. He is an amoral donkey.

thursday night, those rainstorms that f-ed everybody in the country over also got to us. The ground was still saturated (it had already been among the wettest Mays ever), and Lake Champlain was already several feet over flood stage.
Then the storms hit, anywhere from 5-8 inches fell in 8 hours. Everywhere across the north part of Vermont got overwhelmed.
We spent hours yesterday and the day before just driving around, looking at carnage. Dirt roads taken down to the bedrock. One house had a driveway over a creek, and the driveway sat up on a 6 foot across culvert. 20 feet long. The culvert got washed away and ended up in a pasture down the road. It’s now a 25 foot crevasse to get to the other side of the driveway.

there’s at least 30 roads I’ve heard of that basically no longer exist. And one lumberyard fell into a river and destroyed a bridge on Route 5, and then all of it went over a dam. Luckily, it crashed into a huge hill and got hung up, or it might have taken out the next dam.
