On another note, Pippen is a moron for saying Lebron could be better than MJ. Forget the rings, Lebron’s individual accolades don’t hold a jockstrap to MJ’s at the same age, its just really hard to match. Lebron is the best player of his generation’s stars (i.e – from Wade, Melo, Howard, etc) but I wouldn’t even pick him now over 2006 or 2007 Kobe, let alone MJ.

If a player coming into the league is said to have the skill set of a combination of Michael Jordan and Magic Johnson, and by the end of his career he fulfills that evaluation at an all time great level, he would definitely be in the small list of consideration of all time great. All of this reaction to what Pippen said is unreal. I heard some idiot reporter say what Pippen had to say has no merit. Now I have an understanding of what Roger Maris and Hank Aaron had to go through chasing Ruth’s records.

I’ve always said the media and alot of people on here are personality whores. I think that’s what LeBatard was trying to get at without actually saying it. People are bending over backwards to explain away Rose’s performance because he’s “humble”, a “nice guy”. If Allan Iverson had that level of performance back in the day or LeBron this year, does anyone honestly think they’d receive similar treatment with the kid gloves? In the NBA more than anywhere else, analysis of players and play from the media and fans is more subjective than objective.

Bucher made an excellent point in the podcast, which is, people complain about those who defend Rose by saying that if he wins, it was cause he’s great, and if he loses, its cause of the supporting cast. Bucher lays it on LeBatard by saying that its the same exact argument that people made for Lebron James every single year, which is true.

What else would he have had to have done for you to believe he hadn’t played well at the end? Urinate on himself?

Are you a journalist, TBL? I saw the same thing on CNN.com the other day. Someone described a situation one way, and then the ‘writer’ thought it would be great to make up a similar meaning quote and make it appear like they said that.

In a press release Tuesday, NASA said, in essence, “What we have here is a failure to communicate.”
“We no longer believe there is a realistic probability of hearing from Spirit,” Dave Lavery, NASA’s program executive for solar system exploration, said in the release.

This writer made up a quote, led with it, made it sounds like NASA said it, and only after that explained what they actually said. I have no problem with interpretation in an article, but to blatantly re-write someone’s words to get more hits on your article is absolutely disgusting.

And I don’t think TBL here is acting as egregiously as some guy named Craig Johnson on CNN, but it seems to be a trend, and is starting to drive me away from any sensationalist news. This whole clickocracy trend is pissing me off…

I like Bucher, but him saying he’d start a franchise over Lebron is a little bit too out there. Rose is a good player, but he’s not that good yet. Lebron’s only 26 and the most complete player in the game. Granted, Rose is going to be a beast in the years to come, but Lebron still has atleast 6 good years left in him before his skills start declining so he has a long way to go.
