Barry Bonds Will Pay to Send Two Kids to College – The Children of the Giants’ Fan Who Was Beaten Into a Coma
Barry Bonds: Here’s a story that’s being severely underplayed: according to NBC, the attorney for Bryan Stow – the Giants’ fan who was beaten into a coma in the parking lot at Dodger Stadium in April – says that the MLB career leader in home runs, Barry Bonds, has “donated to pay for [Stow's kids] college education.” Stow has two young children in grade school, and last month, Bonds visited their father in the hospital and left a signed baseball bat for the kids. As others have noted, if a media-friendly current or former athlete had made such a gesture, it’d be all over the news. Will the media ever get over its dislike for Bonds? [NBC Bay Area]

I think the real question here is “What would Bautista do?”
May 25th, 2011 at 2:03 PM
I don’t give a shit what the root of his motivation for doing this was…it’s an incredible thing to do.
May 25th, 2011 at 2:03 PM
good for bonds.
May 25th, 2011 at 2:03 PM
Yes, but the kids will be going to college on DIRTY ROID MONEY….

I thought it was funny the family’s suing the Dodgers.. isnt that kinda like suing a homeless dude?
May 25th, 2011 at 2:05 PM
Good for Barry. That’s a nice gesture.
May 25th, 2011 at 2:07 PM
Totally agree this gets front page news if it’s well-liked athlete, but he’s public enemy #1 in the baseball world so whatever.
/Team Barry
May 25th, 2011 at 2:07 PM
I was going to say “they should be able to prove some negligence” and then I realized what you were actually intimating…+internet points to you, CJ.
May 25th, 2011 at 2:07 PM
nice of barry to do…it’s amazing what personality changes occur when you’re off the roids.
also nice his people didn’t put the story out there.
May 25th, 2011 at 2:08 PM
No matter the Dodgers current financial issues, It’s pathetic to sue a team for what happened IMO. Anyways, good for Barry. Hate him if you want, he may be an asshole. But watching him hit was amazing.

He also has some extra money now that he doesn’t have to relay on Proactive to get hid of his back acne.
May 25th, 2011 at 2:10 PM
That’s interesting, does MLB assume any debts the Dodgers incur now that they’ve taken over? If so sue them for all they got…TBL might not care to admit this but baseball prints money
May 25th, 2011 at 2:12 PM
im sure that the dodgers have some kind of corporate liability insurance for this kinda stuff. and the insurance company’s lawyer will wreck this suit’s shit.

Speaking of underplayed stories. There are space archeologists in Alabama?

How many serious questions do you think are submitted to TXN Experts each day? Is it more than 10?

my cousin worked for NASA in birmingham so…yea.

I don’t know if this has been brought up or if anyone cares, but Mark Haines the CNBC anchor died suddenly yesterday. I didn’t even know that Erin Burnett left CNBC either.
May 25th, 2011 at 2:16 PM
They need to mercy rule the Indians right now. This is out of hand.

So when a team fails to have proper security, the family should just suck it up? That’s one of the stupidest comments I’ve seen on this site.
May 25th, 2011 at 2:17 PM
just the balance of the universe making it’s presence known…tribe beats royals 19-1, they should have the same done to them.
it all works out in the end.
May 25th, 2011 at 2:17 PM
it would be enjoyable if this game sends the indians on a season long tailspin.
May 25th, 2011 at 2:18 PM
No way. I hope they score 30.
May 25th, 2011 at 2:18 PM
shut the fuck up.
May 25th, 2011 at 2:19 PM
They did, they took Crawford out
May 25th, 2011 at 2:22 PM
OK MR. Police State. I just meant that I’m sure the Dodgers would of compensated the family accordingly without going to court.
You’re right, I’m wrong. Lawyers always gotta get ‘er done.
May 25th, 2011 at 2:23 PM
I wouldnt begrudge any family for doing this, I cant even imagine the medical costs they are incurring
May 25th, 2011 at 2:23 PM
I agree.
May 25th, 2011 at 2:23 PM

Two days ago I would have thought the same thing but I’ve already listened to hardcore Dodgers fans go off the rails about this issue so I didn’t even blink when I read it
May 25th, 2011 at 2:24 PM
I don’t think there should be a law suit for everything, but there’s been an obvious negligence by the McCourts at Dodger Stadium. They’ve shown that they are only willing to do the bare minimum, and in this case you can’t leave it up to them to do the right thing.
May 25th, 2011 at 2:25 PM
my cousin worked for NASA in birmingham so…yea.
Did your cousin get a cool title like Space Archeologist?
May 25th, 2011 at 2:26 PM
No way, they can’t even pay their own players right now. Why would they voluntarily pony up for something like that?
May 25th, 2011 at 2:26 PM
I’m sure the Dodgers would of compensated the family accordingly without going to court
What in the history of the world would make you think such a thing?
May 25th, 2011 at 2:27 PM
Apprently this happened a month ago and Barry was trying to keep it on the hush. Good job Barry. Haters gon’ hate but this was a classy gesture.

Erin B. could definitely get it.

But who is the hotter “Money Honey” Maria or Erin B?
May 25th, 2011 at 2:27 PM
I’m not fully on the level when it comes to the situation and scene other than from what I have heard on radio etc. Perhaps I shouldn’t have made such a blanket statement. But whatever, I don’t give a shit about the Dodgers or the tax evading McCourts.
May 25th, 2011 at 2:27 PM

It’s funny because I don’t think many people realize that most of the “bad element” are Raiders fans. And here we are 16 years after the Cryptkeeper moved back to Oakland

Oh, I get it, just don’t want to pay to be around it. I live much closer to Angel Stadium so if we see a game it’s there..

If we’re going to talk about former government officials, the conversation begins and ends with Ms. Dana Perino.

Those medical bills aren’t going to pay for themselves.
May 25th, 2011 at 4:15 PM
Bonds is still a huge douche and this “generous” act was motivated solely as an attempt to win people over as his Hall of Fame ballot approaches.
