Derrick Rose Dunked on Joel Anthony
Derrick Rose split a double team on the perimeter, penetrated into the lane, climbed an elevator, and threw down a fierce two-handed dunk on Miami center Joel Anthony in the 2nd quarter of game four of the Eastern Conference Finals.
Rose: 6-foot-2. Anthony: 6-foot-11. It has to be one of the five or 10 best facials in the NBA this season.
Announcer Steve Kerr struggled to get this sentence out: “This was as spectacular move as you will ever see.” [vid via @Blazer's Edge]

Gotta be one of the best guys to see dunk, considering his size and he loves to throw down 2-handed.
May 24th, 2011 at 10:10 PM
At this point have to hope the Bulls both get into foul trouble and/or get worn down with Ashik out, because the Heat look like poo.
May 24th, 2011 at 10:10 PM
Bulls pushing tempo and grab a 7-point lead.
As for Rose … if he taught a crossover class, I’d pay top dollar to be in it.
May 24th, 2011 at 10:24 PM
Why is it that it seems like some guys can hang in the air so long (like Rose). Is it an illusion or can some guys hang in the air longer than others for some reason? I think Rose’s dunk on Anthony is Anthony started to come back down and Rose stayed up at the rim.
May 24th, 2011 at 10:26 PM
And just like that its a ball game again. Bulls looking a step slow.
May 24th, 2011 at 10:28 PM
Rose has a higher vertical so he’s in the air for a longer period of time.
May 24th, 2011 at 10:30 PM
Jimmy the Greek god rest his soul had a theory about this
Still tempering excitement that they can hold the Heat off, seemed to expend a ton of energy that quarter just to add three points to the lead
May 24th, 2011 at 10:31 PM
yup. I’m really nervous about this quarter. I’m terrified of Lebron; just hope the Bulls don’t feel the same.
May 24th, 2011 at 10:36 PM
Hooray for lebron James getting away with flops and travels!
May 24th, 2011 at 10:36 PM
MIKE MILLER? REALLY?
May 24th, 2011 at 10:37 PM
Eh, this is what I was waiting for…seen this movie the last two games
May 24th, 2011 at 10:40 PM
feel bad that the Bulls are planning on going down with Korver on the floor.
again.
Play Bogans, will ya?
May 24th, 2011 at 10:41 PM
Neither of these teams are consistent enough to beat Dallas the way Dirk is playing right now.
May 24th, 2011 at 10:43 PM
wow, how do they flub that 3 on 1. And I’m not a bulls fan, but I’m outraged at boozer’s showing in this series. I can’t even imagine what bulls fan want to do with his sorry ass.
May 24th, 2011 at 10:44 PM
It’ll be a free throw parade being co-hosted by wade and lebron. Angels of Stern will make sure of that.
May 24th, 2011 at 10:48 PM
Deng! Huge shot!
May 24th, 2011 at 10:49 PM
That’s Carlos Boozer…
May 24th, 2011 at 10:50 PM
That’s the issue with the Bulls. Its the biggest game of the year and you are asking them to bench Korver for Keith freakin Bogans. Not a good choice either way.
May 24th, 2011 at 10:50 PM
forgot wife and kid are asleep upstairs and just roared on that hustle play and Boozer bucket for Bulls lead!
May 24th, 2011 at 10:52 PM
Could you say
Pacers:Bulls
Bulls:Heat
in the last 5 minutes of games?
May 24th, 2011 at 10:52 PM
hate crime against bosh
May 24th, 2011 at 10:52 PM
Eastern conference beauty tonight, teams grinding.
“Bosh goes down like a european soccer player.” Nice Steve Kerr.
May 24th, 2011 at 10:52 PM
Terrible flagrant call there. Garbage officiating
May 24th, 2011 at 10:54 PM
this is a fantastic 4th quarter of basketball. Lebron is locking down Rose. can rose shake him?
May 24th, 2011 at 10:56 PM
Another block called as a charge. Why even have refs? It’s bullshit
May 24th, 2011 at 10:56 PM
Wow talk about the officials wanting to put their stamp on this game.
May 24th, 2011 at 10:57 PM
he’s shaken him like 8 times already. It’s the team defense that’s locking him down.
May 24th, 2011 at 10:58 PM
/refuses to make any comments about the refereeing
May 24th, 2011 at 11:02 PM
Bulls supporting cast hitting. great game
May 24th, 2011 at 11:02 PM
why do you let the guy roll the ball up like that?
May 24th, 2011 at 11:03 PM
Gibson has yet to meet a pump fake he won’t jump at…this doesn’t bode well since Rose can’t get shit going, might have to draw up a final shot for Deng if it gets to that
May 24th, 2011 at 11:09 PM
good call by the refs. As Reggie Miller said, Wade had one the last possession that wasn’t called
May 24th, 2011 at 11:09 PM
I fucking hate the, “Look at me, I’m super incredulous about that call” face that Lebron does
May 24th, 2011 at 11:10 PM
Wow, what a call on lebron there. I thought they’d swallow the whistle there.
May 24th, 2011 at 11:11 PM
gotta take that to the hoop, Rose. come on, son
May 24th, 2011 at 11:11 PM
LeBron is no Michael. Glad the refs are calling a good game.
May 24th, 2011 at 11:11 PM
Deng should have taken that shot. Bulls don’t want overtime. At least drive and try to draw a foul
May 24th, 2011 at 11:11 PM
bad shot, d rose, go to the rim
May 24th, 2011 at 11:11 PM
What the fuck was all that ugliness.
May 24th, 2011 at 11:12 PM
they’re going to foul him … why settle? i wonder if that big lebron block earlier rattled Rose
May 24th, 2011 at 11:12 PM
Can see why he is coach of the year…
May 24th, 2011 at 11:12 PM
why even have coaches if that is going to be your last play? what are they there for? Lebron is fast enough to hang with rose 1 on 1. And even if he isn’t, has enough length to seriously bother any shot attempt. Why not try to set up a screen? What kind of play was that?
May 24th, 2011 at 11:13 PM
Rose had him beat. He should have turned the corner and thrown up a floater.
May 24th, 2011 at 11:13 PM
Rose is playing like a damn fool down the stretch…the Heat are in his head
May 24th, 2011 at 11:14 PM
I think it was more that he wanted to try to get a clean shot off without having to worry whether or not the refs would call a foul if he tried to force the issue at the rim.
May 24th, 2011 at 11:15 PM
Commercials about not saying gay and now the First Lady talking about youth fitness. I do declare, the NBA now advertises to everything possible
May 24th, 2011 at 11:15 PM
Bulls offense is 100% stagnant
May 24th, 2011 at 11:15 PM
wade looks old
May 24th, 2011 at 11:17 PM
This one is there for the taking for the Bulls… tough one to swallow if Miami wins.
May 24th, 2011 at 11:18 PM
In all the games I don’t watch, that final shot of dribbling 25 feet away from the basket then take a fadeaway jumper at the buzzer must go in all the time. Because in all the games I do watch, it never works.
/my only explanation on why they keep doing it
May 24th, 2011 at 11:19 PM
Bosh so wants to stick his lower jaw out like KG, the only thing is he DOESN’T HAVE ONE!
/Anything is possible’d
May 24th, 2011 at 11:20 PM
COREY BREWER! HUGE!
May 24th, 2011 at 11:20 PM
Ok. Ronnie Brewer should take the next last second shot
May 24th, 2011 at 11:23 PM
If only Corey brewer played for either team, tbl.
May 24th, 2011 at 11:25 PM
bummer. rose just lost the ball.
and the game.
May 24th, 2011 at 11:25 PM
Ok bulls, just win game 5 so you extend the heat another couple days. Mavs will take the rest.
May 24th, 2011 at 11:26 PM
Dwayne Wade lives! Alert the authorities, he’s been located.
May 24th, 2011 at 11:26 PM
NEXT!!!
May 24th, 2011 at 11:27 PM
Dwade should stop celebrating. He shit his pants most of the game.
May 24th, 2011 at 11:28 PM
Yep, Dallas so much more fun to watch than these two teams.
May 24th, 2011 at 11:29 PM
It will be nice to see Miami play a team with an actual offense. And again, fuck the fake Miami fans. What a shitty phony sports town
May 24th, 2011 at 11:30 PM
oh well …
May 24th, 2011 at 11:30 PM
Wow, what a sequence. Love these brutal games.
Dallas too old and soft for this kind of fight.
May 24th, 2011 at 11:30 PM
Dude, Dallas came back 15 down in the 4th and won in OT. Stop it already.
May 24th, 2011 at 11:31 PM
I’ll take the wager on that.
/ TBL wager
// interweb fake wager
May 24th, 2011 at 11:31 PM
do yourself a favor and stop replying to him. If we ignore him, maybe he will go away.
May 24th, 2011 at 11:32 PM
Hey 3rd man back with his lame argument. Maybe he’ll say something intelligent but I doubt it. Broken record bullshit. This game is exciting if you like sloppy passing and bad officiating
May 24th, 2011 at 11:32 PM
And I’m so fucking sick of people calling the Mavericks soft. How exactly are they soft? In 2006, sure. But over this playoff run, they’ve shown a lot of resilience and toughness.
May 24th, 2011 at 11:33 PM
To a team of college seniors and juniors who collectively shat their pants. I think you meant, “yea dude, you may have a point but I respectfully disagree.”
This.
May 24th, 2011 at 11:33 PM
Coop so naive to think Dallas can’t handle these guys. Yeah, Dallas was so soft they scored over 98 twice against Miami
May 24th, 2011 at 11:34 PM
Such is life, just hope that losing an overtime playoff game in the conference finals doesn’t mean that the Bulls have somehow invalidated themselves
May 24th, 2011 at 11:34 PM
TIL that saying LeBron and Wade are more fun to watch than Dallas = lame argument. Got it.
May 24th, 2011 at 11:34 PM
Some moron on ESPN tweeted that Lebron/Heat were underdogs. What the fuck?
May 24th, 2011 at 11:35 PM
So 3rd man, what bandwagon are you on?
May 24th, 2011 at 11:35 PM
Damn you Noah – had Chicago +7. lol
May 24th, 2011 at 11:35 PM
HA, gotta love noah. I would be DELIGHTED to have him on my team. Say what you want, but the guy gives a crap.
May 24th, 2011 at 11:35 PM
And Chicago was 3-0 against Miami. Then the playoffs happened.
May 24th, 2011 at 11:35 PM
gonna sit out TBL for a few days. I won’t like the things I have to say. Nice game, Heat.
May 24th, 2011 at 11:37 PM
That botched end of regulation will be a turd on the entire offseason
May 24th, 2011 at 11:38 PM
What does it matter who they were facing? Your argument’s premise was that they are not exciting to watch. I said their game 4 victory in OT throws your theory out the window.
You stopped making sense the 47th you repeated “Dallas is boring”.
May 24th, 2011 at 11:39 PM
Chicago was 2-0 vs Dallas but Dallas is still a better team. Dallas has more weapons to go against Miami and will actually push Miami around in the lane.
May 24th, 2011 at 11:39 PM
Can’t blame the officials for this one. Some questionable calls but the sloppy play and total lack of offensive game plan killed the bulls. They badly need a shooting guard who can be a true secondary option for them. maybe trade boozer in some sort of deal. Which shooting guard in the league can they get for him?
May 24th, 2011 at 11:40 PM
The Heat actually lost to the Celtics last round. Even after Riley started coaching them. Really surprising…
May 24th, 2011 at 11:42 PM
someone threw a towel onto TNT set. Fucking miami “fans”. Someone need to create the second “fan up” video to show them how to act in victory. Despicable.
May 24th, 2011 at 11:43 PM
More amazing is that lebron didn’t miss a free throw. That’s rare
May 24th, 2011 at 11:46 PM
Miami heat may deserve to win a title but the fambase sure does not deserve anything but to be run over by buses.
May 24th, 2011 at 11:48 PM
Der Kaiser – I’m not sure if Boozer is tradable given his contract. Although I’ve said that before with worse people with worse contracts and teams manage to trade them. I would think they would not get equal value though to make up for his contract
May 24th, 2011 at 11:52 PM
Lets go Dallas!!
May 24th, 2011 at 11:55 PM
My hope is that Boozer is more hurt than he’s let on and will be more effective next season…he’s looked good in stretches but then will biff a few bunnies and somehow be worse on defense than the expected norm
May 24th, 2011 at 11:56 PM
Dallas is going to win the title this year – they’re deeper, and they have the best player from these playoffs. Dirk is going to rip whoever guards him on the Heat a new one.
May 24th, 2011 at 11:59 PM
Tyson Chandler and Brendan Haywood actually have balls and will push Miami around down low. Boozer and Noah don’t necessarily do that. I saw Noah get outhustled for rebounds tonight by guys 3-4 inches shorter than him
May 24th, 2011 at 11:59 PM
Miami’s perimeter defense against the Mavs is intriguing…kinda sucks that a pretty decent playoffs up until this point is seeing two conferences finals that might not get past a 5th game
May 25th, 2011 at 12:02 AM
If Dallas can limit Miami’s transition offense and force the Heat into a lot of LeBron and D-Wade iso sets, Dallas will beat Miami. If Miami doesn’t force turnovers, they tend to stand around with a thumb up their ass.
May 25th, 2011 at 12:06 AM
I agree with TBL’s tweet about LeBron being a fake tough guy. He’s the biggest spoiled brat in the league and is a royal bitch.
May 25th, 2011 at 12:08 AM
Miami will be closing out on those Dallas perimeter players quicker than anyone they’ve seen in the playoffs. Chandler and Haywood are going to be irrelevent because Miami doesn’t have a low post presensce on offense and a large chunk of their rebounds come from their wing players. I can see alot of LeBron guarding Dirk in the final quarter. That will be interesting.
May 25th, 2011 at 12:08 AM
Yes, because nothing screams toughness like Dwayne Wade, Chris Bosh, Mike Miller and Joel Anthony! Just because Dallas can make jump shots and score points doesn’t mean they’re soft.
It’s good to see The3rdMan back! You once again add nothing to the conversation!
May 25th, 2011 at 12:09 AM
Miami will give up a lot of open perimeter shots. The key is to make a lot of them, something Boston and Chicago weren’t able to do.
May 25th, 2011 at 12:09 AM
All of TraderJacks comments = “I wish my team had those 3 guys on it.”
May 25th, 2011 at 12:11 AM
This is going to be a great matchup. THinking they’ll go with Haslem on him for good chunks of the game too -didn’t Haslem hold Dirk in relative check in 06 Finals – and then close with LeBron. Wonder if he’ll be able to embarrass Dirk as much as he embarrassed the MVP
May 25th, 2011 at 12:13 AM
orly, nice of you to come out of your troll hole and make your bitch comments. Keep riding the bandwagon. The last thing I want for the Celtics would be to deal with that piece of shit LeBron on the team.
Go back in your hole, keep sucking LeBron’s dick, and go fuck yourself, douche.
May 25th, 2011 at 12:14 AM
Wait, was Lebron talking shit??
May 25th, 2011 at 12:17 AM
@TheBigLead – “Lebron, what a dick. Stared at Noah like he was some kind of tough guy”
Lebron is too pussy to talk shit to other players’ faces. He just runs his mouth to the crowd.
May 25th, 2011 at 12:21 AM
/Pours one out for TBLAD
May 25th, 2011 at 12:23 AM
oh, and the Red Sox beat the Indians today. Finally. Beckett was filthy again. Adrian Gonzalez is in beastmode right now.
May 25th, 2011 at 12:33 AM
I have lost my will to live.
May 25th, 2011 at 1:12 AM
TraderJack, I feel for you…you just can’t let it go. Your Celtics are legendary man. You don’t need to be so abrasive about an up and coming team who sodomized your old players. You would have given up Tom Brady for Lebron, but you already had your big 3. Sorry you didn’t get him. So just be a big boy and stop crying and being a curmudgeon about the new NBA. Maybe when Cp3, Carmello, and Durant are 32, they will be Celtics and you can get one more title.
May 25th, 2011 at 1:29 AM
The quality of conversation and commenters for TBLAD has taken a tragic turn.
May 25th, 2011 at 7:44 AM
This. It doesn’t even make for an entertaining early morning read anymore.
May 25th, 2011 at 7:49 AM
Who let all the fucking trolls in?
May 25th, 2011 at 8:22 AM
I blame the guy who wrote “climbed an elevator” in the post.
May 25th, 2011 at 8:52 AM
It would be better if the trolls were smart but they are some of the dumbest fuckers I’ve seen.
