Solid roundup TBL.
Don’t know how the Yanks are going to have a new core group considering all of their best prospects are either pitchers or catchers.
May 20th, 2011 at 8:41 AM
not as much, anymore. 15-20 years ago? sure. NBC Sports has been pretty shitty for awhile. They landed Sunday Night Football a few years ago, but before that they had been shut out of football for over a decade. Lost the NBA, MLB, and have no involvement in college outside of Notre Dame. He miscalculated big time with the XFL because he has been in bed with Vince McMahon for years. They are going to lose the Olympics, most likely, even if he stayed. Needed a new guy in charge. with the Comcast takeover of NBC Universal, it was inevitable anyway.
May 20th, 2011 at 8:44 AM
How did you manage to find the one picture out there where Brooklyn Decker looks not only bad, but ridiculous?
May 20th, 2011 at 8:45 AM
Best Roundup evah. This could be a 300 comment job easy. Don’t even know where to begin so I’ll start here: Brooklyn looks much better in a bikini, and does anyone any longer have any doubt that Lance is guilty?
May 20th, 2011 at 8:47 AM
That’s an awful ‘dress’. Makes her look so boxy in the middle.
May 20th, 2011 at 8:48 AM
I can’t stand New York media types but Francesca cracks me up. “THAAAAAAAT’S RIDICULOUS! NEVAH IS HE YO BEST CHANCE!”
May 20th, 2011 at 8:49 AM
I was going to say something like this, but couldn’t find the words. Brooklyn needs to be in either a bikini or something skin tight. Period.
May 20th, 2011 at 8:49 AM
very cool
May 20th, 2011 at 8:49 AM
Happy Interleague Play day!
May 20th, 2011 at 8:50 AM
I’m convinced he does this on purpose to rile everyone up.
May 20th, 2011 at 8:50 AM
I’m honestly interested in how many people here watch network news. I haven’t since I lived at home which was more than 10 years ago. I get all my news on the interthing.
May 20th, 2011 at 8:50 AM
Chase video is addicting. Fool made some slick manuevers for a minute or so before getting unlucky with the truck making a left. Not sure how he survived that impact reasonably unscathed.
May 20th, 2011 at 8:52 AM
It seems especially outdated since 24 hour news channels started. Dont think anyone under 50 watches.
May 20th, 2011 at 8:52 AM
I come here for substandard pictures of good looking women. I stay for CJ’s catty comments on their looks, dress, etc.
May 20th, 2011 at 8:52 AM
I sincerely hope this is more than her word against his. That would be a stiff penalty for a unsubstantiated allegation.
May 20th, 2011 at 8:55 AM
i try to catch it every now and then if i’m near the TV and don’t have anything to watch when it is on the air. I don’t make time to sit down and watch, but i also avoid cable news like the plague.
May 20th, 2011 at 8:56 AM
It must have moved.
/Hernia’d
If I’m home getting ready to eat and nothing else is on before Jeopardy, I’ll watch ABC World News.
May 20th, 2011 at 8:56 AM
…more on the chase, not wanting to glorify since jackass should be put away for awhile. Scary to think about the endgam possibilities when an idiot decides to steal a cruiser and fly through traffic at 100mph. Visions of him t-boning a minivan or head-on collision. Had one here recently kill a deputy deploying stopsticks.
May 20th, 2011 at 8:56 AM
No need. I can do it all off the top of my head: “There was a fire somewhere, someone was killed in a shooting downtown, there was a robbery, Obama said something, a Republican reacted, and here are some shopping tips. Next up, the weather and sports.” Done and done.
May 20th, 2011 at 8:57 AM
I think you have network and local news confused.
May 20th, 2011 at 8:58 AM
That Washington helmet cam video was sweet. I would have loved to see one with Locker overthrowing receivers by 10 feet though.
I read that he showed off his Super Bowl rings to some recruit, and the next day the kid committed to Miami. Hilarious.
May 20th, 2011 at 8:59 AM
mlekan –
Did it SOUND like the cops tried to taser the guy twice? the first cop definitely shot a taser at him – not sure how he dodged it. when the second cop showed up, you can hear the taser pinging
May 20th, 2011 at 9:00 AM
At first glance I thought maybe he hit a fire truck steering into his path on purpose (they would have known what was going on). I’m not convinced either way.
May 20th, 2011 at 9:00 AM
Only time I watch the network news is the five minutes leading up to Jeopardy.
May 20th, 2011 at 9:00 AM

May 20th, 2011 at 9:03 AM
Another cyclist, Tyler Hamilton, claims that Lance Armstrong used banned substances, including EPO.
I saw excerpts of his 60 minutes interview last night. I’m not an expert, but I have seen Lie to Me. If that show has taught me anything, it’s that this guy was doing things like constantly shaking his head no when verbally answering things in the affirmative.
Now, I’m off to establish a baseline by reviewing past video of Tyler Hamilton.
May 20th, 2011 at 9:03 AM
That’s about how I feel about it too. It seems silly to restrict your news to 23 minutes of what the network deems to be important, when the Internet is RIGHT THERE.
May 20th, 2011 at 9:04 AM
I was in DC in February and these nut jobs were handing out their “information” around the Smithsonian/Wash. Monument area. Normally I don’t pay much attention to this kind of shit, but then I saw that they were using a little kid who couldn’t have been more than 6 to hand their shit out too. You can’t cure crazy.
May 20th, 2011 at 9:05 AM
Every out-of-touch sorority girl knows the lyrics to at least one NWA/Eazy E/Dre song. Never fails.
May 20th, 2011 at 9:05 AM
Ha! It’s pretty amazing how many people are coming and going at Miami right now. Lot of transfers in and out. I think some of the players there don’t like Golden making it into a meritocracy compared to Shannon’s favoritism. Have a great DB coming in from WF who is using the Masoli rule for an extra year of eligbility.
May 20th, 2011 at 9:06 AM

Speaking of Jeopardy…I love having a Jeopardy Page A Day calendar at work. A new clue every day of the week – Mon-Wed is the Jeopardy round, Thurs-Sat is Double Jeopardy and Sunday is Final Jeopardy. You can wager whatever you earned during the week. Whoever came up with this calendar is a genius.

May 20th, 2011 at 9:08 AM
they were all over the place in times square last weekend. i really wanted to ask them what their fall back plan was if judgement day happened and they weren’t saved and if judgement day didn’t happen, would you just pick another date?
May 20th, 2011 at 9:08 AM
I look at it like an OUtline of shit going on. I don’t try to gather anything that relevant, but it does provide a good rundown of major news stories which you can then research more online if you so choose.
May 20th, 2011 at 9:09 AM
I was thinking this was going to be Anderson Hunt.
May 20th, 2011 at 9:09 AM
Okay, I just learned of the most disturbing thing about this whole Judgement Day nonsense:
In the last two weeks, it is estimated that over 10,000 healthy family pets have been euthanized by End of Times believers, in order to spare them from the supposed horrors that await post May 21, 2011.
It’s bad enough that most of these clowns have burned through live savings and ruined their own lives; it should be criminal that they involved their pets in their own delusions.
May 20th, 2011 at 9:09 AM
Someone put a mustache on a (big) baby and put him in a Kansas Jayhawks jacket. The kid looks so much like Mark Mangino. It’s awesome.
May 20th, 2011 at 9:09 AM
Love those Photos. It is always amazing to me how different this country looked just 60 something years ago.

I’m on Team Leyland here, this thing has run its course and 18 games is ridiculous…of course having said that I really hope the White Sox roll over the NL as is their wont in life, need it this year more than ever
May 20th, 2011 at 9:12 AM
I think I’d sacrifice 10,000 live pets if it meant Outkast would get their bitch-asses in the studio and make some music.

Ugh. Fuck these clowns.

Something I’ll never understand – the late dinner eaters and their never ending disdain for those of us who eat early.
May 20th, 2011 at 9:14 AM
Seriously. Has no one seen I am Legend.
May 20th, 2011 at 9:15 AM
Yes, they definitely fired a 2nd tase, and there is an audible scream like it got him, but amazingly he was able to shake it off after a couple seconds and have enough adrenaline to buzz around in the cruiser for a minute or so.
May 20th, 2011 at 9:15 AM
6:30 is early. 5 is weird.
May 20th, 2011 at 9:15 AM
He’s really acting like a child about this whole thing. Obviously wasn’t alive during the majority of his playing days but wasn’t he perceived as a surly and bitter individual? After you stop playing not many people will be as smitten with you if that’s your persona.
I gotta vent real quick too. The couple that lives above me must have left their cell phone on the floor this morning because starting at 5:45 am, the alarm on it went off. It continued to vibrate every 10 minutes for 3 minutes at a time on the floor. If the rapture doesn’t kill them tomorrow, I certainly will.
May 20th, 2011 at 9:15 AM
I wanted to go to goodwill and get a bunch of old clothes to setup throughout town looking like people were walking around and just vanished. Apparently I wasn’t the first person to think of this idea and so the Goodwill lady kicked me out of the store.

How dare you get your sustenance when it fits into your schedule!
May 20th, 2011 at 9:17 AM
What time do you eat breakfast? What time do you eat lunch? I think YOURE weird. If I eat breakfast around 8, lunch around noon, why on earth would I wait till 7 or 8 for dinner? And only have an hour or two to burn it off before bed? THAT is silly.
May 20th, 2011 at 9:17 AM
Have kids that go to bed at 7:45-8:00 and then we’ll talk. Used to eat around 6, but things change
May 20th, 2011 at 9:18 AM
Are there statues of Jerry West and Magic Johnson? If not, I say no.
May 20th, 2011 at 9:18 AM
reminds me of a movie that was always on late night, a guy wakes up to find that overnight, people vanished, leaving nothing but red sand behind where they once were. can’t remember the name of the movie, but it was early 90′s late 80′s survival porn.
May 20th, 2011 at 9:18 AM
Truth. When I used to stay at my grandparents when I was a kid, dinner was at 5:30 sharp. I’m much more of a 7:30-8pm dinner person.
May 20th, 2011 at 9:18 AM
Kareem Abdul Jabbar wants a statue outside Staples Center.
Reading some of his tweets he comes off like a petty, bitter child. “Lakers don’t care about me,” “Magic got a statue before I did” etc. etc….
Kareem’s a Ninny.
/But, uh, thanks for getting the Bucks their lone ‘ship.
May 20th, 2011 at 9:19 AM
Different strokes, I guess. My parents were busy as well, but we always ate around 7-7:30.
May 20th, 2011 at 9:19 AM
Kids get dropped off by 7, I’m at my desk by 7:15. So I get out earlier
May 20th, 2011 at 9:19 AM
More importantly, what time do you get off work? To have a meal ready by 5 would be nothing short of a miracle for me.
May 20th, 2011 at 9:19 AM
Isn’t this like 2 years old?
Only if it’s a statue of him from Game of Death
May 20th, 2011 at 9:19 AM
I have never been a fan of Gwyneth, I just didn’t think there was much to her, looks or otherwise. Now? I dig her.
May 20th, 2011 at 9:20 AM
I get out at 4. Usually work out right when I get home, and make dinner right after. Usually by 5:30-6.
May 20th, 2011 at 9:20 AM
Awesome cop-gets-fired story. Why would you put those comments on Facebook? People can be so stupid.
May 20th, 2011 at 9:20 AM
Who the hell gets those mall massages anyway? Whenever I see those things all I can think about is how gross they must be. I don’t care how much disinfectant they spray on them. It looks gross and is the opposite of relaxing.
May 20th, 2011 at 9:21 AM
I watch ABC World News every evening. It’s set on my DVR, so if I’m late from the gym, I still watch. Diane Sawyer can be a tad annoying with her incessant voice influx, but she means well and it reflects in their content.
May 20th, 2011 at 9:21 AM
Awesome.
May 20th, 2011 at 9:21 AM
Why did she go into the Witness Protection Program between Shakespeare in Love and January? Do people really hate her that much. I’ve heard that.

i’d like to submit for consideration: his likeness from his cameo in “the stand” miniseries…sandwich board, glasses, and crazy look on his face.
May 20th, 2011 at 9:22 AM
Kareem Abdul Jabbar wants a statue outside Staples Center.
Only if it’s a statue of him from Game of Death
I would take him as a crazy prophet in the Stand mini-series as well
May 20th, 2011 at 9:22 AM

Very cool… didn’t expect them to be in color. Amazing how much that makes a difference.
May 20th, 2011 at 9:23 AM
Much respect for Gwyneth Paltrow. I knew there was a reason I liked her.
Gwyneth Paltrow is a prime example that hard work and having your dad be best friends with Steven Speilberg can make all of your dreams come true. Its a lesson to all the poor kids out there to never give up.
May 20th, 2011 at 9:23 AM
Also, isn’t it clear every elite cyclist has been doing banned substances for the last 30 years? It is not like the guys who were finishing 2nd, 3rd, and 4th have not tested positive
May 20th, 2011 at 9:24 AM
I think most animals hate her after Country Strong.
May 20th, 2011 at 9:24 AM
The Shake Weight producing the desired results?
May 20th, 2011 at 9:24 AM
It’s easy to mock the Family Radio Christian extremists for this May 21 rapture bullshit, and now it’s just as easy to loath them for putting down their animals.
When Sunday rolls around and 200 million people haven’t disappeared from Earth, and the comet hasn’t struck, and the fires haven’t began burning, these idiots will cite another date. It’s cognitive dissonance.
May 20th, 2011 at 9:24 AM
About 20 million Americans watch the network news shows each night. This might surprise some of you, but not every worker spends all day on the internet.

I so want to be able to do this. I tried if for a week. But I would get to the gym and just have no energy. It’s extremely hard for me to get to sleep before 12-1230, so I just don’t think I was getting enough sleep.

I have a 5 year old. If he hasn’t eaten by 6:30, I’m in for a world of pain if I’m trying to get him to bed by 8:30.
May 20th, 2011 at 9:28 AM
I run every morning at about 7 a.m. That’s as early as it gets. It’s not that bad once you get into a rhythm. Plus, cardio in the AM with an empty belly is the best way to burn fat.
May 20th, 2011 at 9:28 AM
How many people will miss the ones who think they’re leaving? The world may actually be a more tolerant place without them.

Yeah, the running I can do… I’m trying to bulk up a bit though, so I’ve started to lay off the cardio for the most part. Which sucks, because unlike most people, I love running/cardio. Doing squats at 600AM on 5.5 hours of sleep is just… ugggh.

May 20th, 2011 at 9:33 AM
is there any actual proof lance did use some form of PED’s, or blood doping, aside from word of mouth?
May 20th, 2011 at 9:34 AM
I hate the fact that you can’t really have it both ways. I ran cross country in high school and I like to run but I’m also trying to put on some muscle and weight.
May 20th, 2011 at 9:34 AM
Also, I never really watch any type of news unless there’s a big story/breaking news. It’s all the same stuff me every night. Bad economy, Lady Gaga is producing another album, crisis in the heartland, some story about a natural disaster somewhere, and oh yeah, we’re fighting 2.5 wars. I read the NYT and stay current via newspaper websites/The Daily Show.

If you saw the amount of meatheads at my gym in the afternoon, you would see why I am motivated to work out in the morning.
plus when I get done with work I’ve got other stuff I would rather be doing. working out in the morning gets my day going.

You can still add bulk and do cardio. Just do sprints. Lay off the distance/endurance. Trust me, it works. I’m a walking example.
May 20th, 2011 at 9:37 AM
Cable news is something I simply cannot tolerate. I haven’t watched Network news in so long, so I can’t really discuss it. When the Bin Laden stuff went down and I watched a good bit of news on cable, I was refreshed on how much I can’t stand that medium.

I wouldn’t call eyewitnesses and first hand accounts “word of mouth”, but yes, lance has tested positive for all kinds of PED’s, but the criteria is very, very strict to be considered a “fail”. He has tested positive (8 or so times IIRC) for elevated levels of EPO and other stuff, but has just missed “failing”. So he can always say “I have never failed a test” and not be technically lying. But now he has the federal prosecutor guy on his ass, and I think he is going down in flames.

For those into social networking and money.
May 20th, 2011 at 9:38 AM
See, ideally I would do this. However, I’m a night owl by nature and usually go to bed pretty late, making it more difficult to get up early and work out.
May 20th, 2011 at 9:38 AM
ATL you shouldn’t just drop conditioning from your workouts. Just eat more (healthy) calories. Why sacrifice part of your overall health just to put on a few pounds?

Sir Charles on DP Show.
May 20th, 2011 at 9:39 AM
anyone watch the office last night?
i think i set myself up for massive disappointment in really wanting james spader to join the cast as the manager. I don’t think i can accept anything else other than that to be a good, funny show any longer.
May 20th, 2011 at 9:39 AM
Yay nepotism!
The nepotism bothers me less than the belief that nepotism wasn’t involved. I always get the sense that she doesn’t think that being born on 3rd base was a factor in her success.
May 20th, 2011 at 9:39 AM
Yeah, the running I can do… I’m trying to bulk up a bit though, so I’ve started to lay off the cardio for the most part. Which sucks, because unlike most people, I love running/cardio. Doing squats at 600AM on 5.5 hours of sleep is just… ugggh.
The best workouts for me are at 5 – 5:30AM, as I get a good amount of energy for the rest of the day. Going to starting my P90X Monday AM.
May 20th, 2011 at 9:40 AM
If you saw the amount of meatheads at my gym in the afternoon, you would see why I am motivated to work out in the morning.
This. This. This. There is one guy, I swear to god… I’ve never really wished ill on anyone I’ve never really known, but he needs to get hit by a bus. He wears a home-made cut off t-shirt that allows him to squeeze both sides together so he can check out his pecks/abs. Oh, and he does it after every. single. set. Add in the grunting, the “‘sup bruh” and his constant oggling/hitting on women, and you get the picture.
Also, I just don’t like working out after work because I get home at 6, eat, and by the time I’m done with the gym it’s around 900 & my night is pretty much dunzo.
May 20th, 2011 at 9:40 AM
Morning workout guy. It started just with running in the morning, but on non-running days, it is easier to just go to the gym before work. Once it’s done, you have your whole day ahead of you. Greatest feeling ever!
May 20th, 2011 at 9:41 AM
What’s a gym?
May 20th, 2011 at 9:41 AM
Fuck the Police!
/see what I did there?
May 20th, 2011 at 9:41 AM
The grunting has to stop. Listen, we get it. Your lifting a massive amount of weight. But if you make another noise like you are cranking out a 10 pound turd, we’re going to have a problem.
Great point. I’ve kind of taken up running recently though. Did my first 5k about 2 weeks ago and dug it. I keep trying to beat my time.
May 20th, 2011 at 9:41 AM
I also wish I was one you motivated people. Working out, whether with weights or running, makes me tired as hell. If I do it in the morning I am wasted all day. I have much more energy in the afternoon/evening.
May 20th, 2011 at 9:42 AM
I used to think I was a night owl by nature, in college. Then I got a job. 10-11 PM I’m usually out, even on the weekends. Yes Im totally lame. And well rested.
May 20th, 2011 at 9:42 AM
I always enjoy looking at the cats who flex their biceps, chest and shoulders, but have chicken legs and odd-shaped mid and lower backs because they neglect them. Hilarious.
May 20th, 2011 at 9:42 AM
ATL you shouldn’t just drop conditioning from your workouts. Just eat more (healthy) calories. Why sacrifice part of your overall health just to put on a few pounds?
I haven’t cut out cardio all-together. I still run a few times a week. But in an ideal world I’d run 4-5 miles every morning and not bother with lifting. Also, I don’t know if I have a small stomach or what, but eating a lot more calories is quite the chore for me. If I’m not hungry my body just doesn’t want to eat. Period. Sucks.
May 20th, 2011 at 9:43 AM
We may be en route to another tech bubble.
However, this fear should be tempered some by the reality that it is 2011, not 2001, and that some of these companies have already made money, unlike many if not most in 2001.
May 20th, 2011 at 9:43 AM
yeah, i just think there thas to be overwhelming evidence, either failed tests, or documentation prooving use and is more than he said she said stuff.
i mean, isn’t it all pretty circumstantial in the court of law if there’s no hard proof to back up the claims made by people?
/not a lawyer’d, but watched the practice and L&O years ago.
May 20th, 2011 at 9:43 AM
Gym is literally 2 minutes from my job so I go right after work and am home by 6:30-7:00. I’m in the can barely get to work on time in the morning camp so there is no way I am going back to morning workouts.
/woke up at 5 am all through college
//never again
May 20th, 2011 at 9:43 AM
Always thought this was supremely creepy at the gym. Even taking with a chick in a friendly manner made me feel weird. I’m not a shy person by any means, but if I was a chick, I’d be weirded out by dudes at the gym.
May 20th, 2011 at 9:44 AM
/no homo (i think)
May 20th, 2011 at 9:44 AM
i’ve noticed the college kids are back at the gym, which has its pros and cons. no need to get into the obvious pros.
the cons are these kids are all taking supplements and aren’t that jacked but can lift a lot.
feel weak not lifting a ton, even though i look more cut
May 20th, 2011 at 9:45 AM
NDub, you seem to hang around a lot of felines
May 20th, 2011 at 9:46 AM
You got it all backwards.
May 20th, 2011 at 9:46 AM
The four and a half months of my life where I truly worked 9 to 5 (9 to 6, actually), I usually went to bed at 1 am and got up around 7:30. Luckily, I lived fairly close to work.
May 20th, 2011 at 9:46 AM
I’m telling you, dude, nix the distance for sprints.
You want to add muscle mass, right? Think about it this way: Who’s got the stronger/leaner body? Tyson Gay or one of those Ethiopian marathoners? You see what lifting weights AND working out with sprints does.
May 20th, 2011 at 9:47 AM
In college, we had terrible food so that and playing club ultimate frisbee, I had no need for the gym that often. It was only after getting a desk job did I fatten up.
/needs to get his ass to the gym one of these days
May 20th, 2011 at 9:47 AM
I am pathologically incapable of working out in the morning, or doing anything in any capacity for that matter. My brain boots up like a Compaq Presario 386 from 1994 — it takes at least 3 hours and a lot of help.
May 20th, 2011 at 9:47 AM
reminds me of that SNL skit “how much you bench?”
May 20th, 2011 at 9:47 AM
I think most college kids work out in the evening, so I never get that advantage. I have to deal with the slower older people.
May 20th, 2011 at 9:49 AM
You know what’s messed up? My apartment complex has stray cats all over the place. I counted eight, including three little kittens, this morning during my sprint workout.
/full circle
May 20th, 2011 at 9:49 AM
You want to add muscle mass, right? Think about it this way: Who’s got the stronger/leaner body? Tyson Gay or one of those Ethiopian marathoners? You see what lifting weights AND working out with sprints does.
Thanks. I know you’re right. I was talking more about what I’d like to be doing rather than what I am/should be doing. I’m built sorta like SC, so I’ve got my work cut out for me.
May 20th, 2011 at 9:50 AM
Awww. Last weekend in my backyard there was a cat and her 2 kittens, they looked like strays. My heart broke. I put out food for them, I know Im not supposed to, but they ate it and I havent seen them since.
May 20th, 2011 at 9:51 AM
Just bust out that Jets shirt that makes you look huge. It’s all good.
Seriously, I don’t sweat these guys though. I’m lean, healthy, and in good shape. It doesn’t bother me that the British Bulldog is in the corner doing 600 pound squats.
May 20th, 2011 at 9:51 AM
there was a great article in Men’s Journal (great mag for those of you that like to still read them) detailing everyhting against him. Another item of note was his yoooooge dropoff in performance on his last TdF’s than from his glory days. Power output and such, they have cool ways to measure all that, and he was down a ton. Just sayin’.
And certainly finding him guilty by some official measure and just knowing in your own mind that he did it are two different things. But if there is anyone who believes Bonds/Clemens/Lance (and now probably Tiger) did not juice, I have some prime real estate in Florida to sell you.
I am hoping he never gets busted officially myself. Would be a shame if it impacts all the awesome cancer work he has done.
May 20th, 2011 at 9:51 AM
In college, I liked to go work out at 10 pm or so. I’d be at the gym until around 11:45.
/again, I was and still am a night owl
May 20th, 2011 at 9:51 AM
I always enjoy looking at the cats who flex their biceps, chest and shoulders, but have chicken legs and odd-shaped mid and lower backs because they neglect them. Hilarious.
I picked up the Seal type workout from my time in the Navy. Those dudes stress the actual “strength” versus weight idea. Sure you can bench 300, but can you actually run a mile?
May 20th, 2011 at 9:52 AM
Not all of us are genetically blessed. You’ve just gotta work with what you have. Also, if you want to increase calorie intake, protein shakes are a good way to do so. A scoop with about eight oz. of water gives your body some stuff to work with, and you won’t get full.
May 20th, 2011 at 9:52 AM
I’ll say it… I hate cats. Like, really hate them. I’ve never met a friendly cat. Ever. Also, anything that craps inside in something that’s not a toilet I just find repugnant.
May 20th, 2011 at 9:52 AM
I’ve been told this for at least 3 years now. I look at my roommate who literally has no life outside of going to work and going to the gym. He gets home at 6, eats, goes to the gym and comes home by 9:30 then is in bed at 10.
I can’t live that way. Riding my bike to work in the mornings (first time was today, YAY weather!) keeps the legs under me and does my cardio. It’s 6 miles a day. I am feel to be a putz when I get home.

Muscle milk light has about 20g of protein per serving. That works as well.
May 20th, 2011 at 9:54 AM
I think that’s why there are so many around my complex. There are many old ladies who feed them. Those kittens were cute and pawing at each other and all that, but I know a year from now they’ll be humping and spreading their seed for another cycle of kittens.

He had also been pretty much out of competitive cycling for almost 4 years. Just sayin’.
May 20th, 2011 at 9:55 AM
Had to, no choice, well I had a choice but not for what I wanted to be doing. It didn’t prevent me from having a good time, trust me.
May 20th, 2011 at 9:55 AM
I might take some shit for it….but Spin class combined with Pilaties and Yoga kicks ass too. You’d be amazed at the different kind of workout that gives you. Plus, after you are all wound up from working out during the week, a good Yoga class will stretch you on the weekend and make you feel relaxed.
May 20th, 2011 at 9:55 AM
Sometimes it’s a curse. Not all the wimmens like a 6’5″ 180 lbs bean pole. The short ones do (except our Mainer here) but I’ve been wanting to sample the tall ones and they just aren’t into it.
May 20th, 2011 at 9:55 AM
I wish I could bike to work SC, 9 miles from my apt to work each way. It’s a major road and hilly. Then the work from 8am-6pm, and then getting home and having absolutely no motivation.
May 20th, 2011 at 9:56 AM
i personally like Optimum Nutrition’s stuff. their platinum hyrdowhey is really good, but expensive. i go for their gold line.
May 20th, 2011 at 9:56 AM
That stuff tastes very good, but it’s kinda fatty. I prefer whey/cassein powder.
May 20th, 2011 at 9:57 AM
a good Yoga class will stretch you on the weekend and make you feel relaxed.
I’ve got some old knee and shoulder injuries and nothing helps manage the discomfort more than Hot Yoga, I try and go at least once a week.
May 20th, 2011 at 9:57 AM
I bet you hate me by October… Just block me during Blackhawks games.
May 20th, 2011 at 9:57 AM

Ha. I’m 6’2″ 185. But I’ve got a nasty case of the chicken legs/arms. All my weight is in my torso.
May 20th, 2011 at 9:57 AM
that is one disadvantage of the morning workout. there is one decent looking girl, then a bunch of old dogs and fatties. which is actually ok I guess at least from a workout standpoint. I’m not sitting around oogling the whole time, I can get in and out pretty quick.
May 20th, 2011 at 9:58 AM
I’ve heard good things about this. I confess to staring (read: eye-fucking) into the evening yoga classrooms during my breaks between sets.
May 20th, 2011 at 9:59 AM
when you are sore 1-2 day after lifting, that is a continuous calorie burn on top of what you actually did at the gym.
i still mix in our sprint workout we did at baylor every once in a while- eight 400 yard laps, with each lap consisting of 200 yards at 3/4 speed and the next 200 at 1/3 speed. no rest, and the workout is done when the eight lap is completed.
May 20th, 2011 at 9:59 AM
im with you, badger – not a fan of cats.
May 20th, 2011 at 10:00 AM
I might take some shit for it….but Spin class combined with Pilaties and Yoga kicks ass too
you are right on.
May 20th, 2011 at 10:01 AM
Ugh, don’t remind me. I went to the shelter yesterday to look at kittens. This one walked right over to my lap and started purring like crazy. It’s like he knew he was auditioning to go home with me. Killed me to leave him there but I’m sure he’ll be adopted by someone before the end of the day today.
May 20th, 2011 at 10:01 AM
Good stuff, menarky. You’re absolutely right. When you’re done, you’re still burning because your body is repairing itself. That’s why the high-intensity of sprints is so important to muscle building.
May 20th, 2011 at 10:01 AM
I use the whey protein in the morning in a smoothie with a banana and some frozen strawberries and it is awesome.
May 20th, 2011 at 10:02 AM
I started doing Yoga once a week after I kept getting injured from running. It has seriously helped me out. Spinning classes are cool too, but if you have a pool at your gym it is the greatest cardio workout ever.
May 20th, 2011 at 10:02 AM
Age and fatherhood will make this feeling go away.
As you get older, I’m not so sure it’s that smart to be lifting “heavy” anyway.

May 20th, 2011 at 10:03 AM
Animal shelters are the most happy and heartbreaking places on earth. I volunteered at one for three months. It was very rewarding to see a dog find a home, but just as sad to see an 8-year-old mutt confined to the cage probably for the rest of its life.
May 20th, 2011 at 10:05 AM
DUDE, great minds…. That’s my dinner some nights after the gym, except I add some milk, vanilla yogurt and ice. I love my blender.
May 20th, 2011 at 10:07 AM
Damn. Bummed I missed that Thrashers thread last night. Some good hate going on between Butters and Husker/Der Kaiser. FWIW, GB/Wisconsin isn’t as terrible/boring as Husker/Der Kaiser made it out to be, and just because you’re a passionate fan doesn’t make you a loser. How is going to a scrimmage to see your team play any worse than sitting on your ass on a Friday night? On the other side, ATL isn’t as JV as Butters makes it out to be either. I’d say that both sides should reserve judgment until they’ve actually visited the areas they’re bashing. My guess is Husker and Der Kaiser have never been to WI.
/can’t we all just get along?

oh yeah, I add everything but the yogurt. and the blender is huge. I had to get a new one a couple months ago because the other one I had was a P.O.S. it came to ahead one morning and I walked it straight to the trash can outside.

When I start my P90 on Monday, I’m going to need to cut out the alcohol for a while. I’m older and my metabolism isn’t what it used to be. I need results stat.
May 20th, 2011 at 10:11 AM
Good call. I cut booze for five weeks before my Spartan Race on April 30. I lost four pounds. What comes with the booze is also very late nights of food and heavy eating on hangover days to soak up the booze.
May 20th, 2011 at 10:11 AM
I need a new breakfast routine in the morning. I used to make breakfast back when I worked in the loop. Now that I ride to work, I get up at 7:40 and am out the door at 7:50. No time for anything and I hate giving places like Starbucks $8 for a shitty breakfast sandwich.
Might have to look into smoothies or something. There’s not a Jamba around my office and our blender is from 1987.
May 20th, 2011 at 10:12 AM
i’ve got a 5k this weekend and i intend to start p90x soon, if not in a couple weeks, then when we buy a house this summer.
already cutting out alcohol, down to just a glass or two a wine 5 days a week with dinner. it’s easy when you don’t have any cold beer or cheap whiskey handy.

jimmy dean d-lights aren’t super healthy for you, but they fill you up, pack in some good protein, and are 2.50 for a bix of 4 or 6, same thing starbucks offers. about 250 calories each, i think.

The 40′s…& more importantly WWII is when/how we started to get out of the depression.
May 20th, 2011 at 10:15 AM
Started in ’29, lasted until roughly ’41. Times were still tough through WW2 and then hit a huge recession in ’46-49.
May 20th, 2011 at 10:16 AM
huge recession in ’46-49.
Huge? ehhhh. Not so sure about that.
May 20th, 2011 at 10:17 AM
Yes. I shower the night before and my dry cleaner is at the end of the block. I put on my shorts and t-shirt when I roll out of bed, grab my messenger bag and roll out. I drop all my stuff off at the dry cleaners on Saturday. The Korean lady that runs the place lets me pick up the stuff daily and I just grab a pair of pants and a shirt and stuff it in my bag on the way to work.
May 20th, 2011 at 10:17 AM
thought the recession hit in the 50′s?
May 20th, 2011 at 10:17 AM
My wife is just finishing her 3rd week of P90X. It’s great, and I’m looking to do it in the fall. I just need to buy a set of heavier dumbells then what she has.
May 20th, 2011 at 10:18 AM
It was pretty rough, GDP contraction of about 5% per year plus 10-12% inflation prior to full implementation of the Marshall Plan and GI Bill. Things really didn’t start to get better until ’49.
May 20th, 2011 at 10:19 AM
Dot.com bubble part deux. Linked In valued at over $10B… that is so insane.
May 20th, 2011 at 10:19 AM
Also, we have a locker room in my office. I can shower when I get here if I really want to. I have my own office and not too many people come in here daily so there are some days where I just throw on my clothes when I get here and leave it at that.
I’m going to check these out when I go to the store tonight.
May 20th, 2011 at 10:20 AM
So your dry cleaners is like a closet? Ha ha.

Negative, 50′s had growth for almost every year except for I think ’57. It was also the growth of the middle class and the most progressive taxation base at this time.
May 20th, 2011 at 10:20 AM
Eh, not quite. Unlike the dot.com bubble, Linked In has a steady and dependable revenue stream. Just not at north of $100/share where it was yesterday.
May 20th, 2011 at 10:23 AM
Noted. I’m trying to start using it more…..getting there.
I’ll try not to bitch too much during Niner games.

I saw an article on that yesterday. Mentioned how Silicon Valley is hiring in crazy numbers. I just question how much further social media can go. I think FB, Twitter etc. have pretty much all the bases covered. For example, 4square really hasn’t caught on with the masses. Who wants to tell the world exactly where they are at all times? And more importantly, who cares?
May 20th, 2011 at 10:23 AM
Essentially, yup. I don’t have to dress up most days, so I can rock flip-flops, shorts and a polo. Only on days when I have to work with our Development Officers or the donors do I have to dress up.
I can’t say it enough but I absolutely love my job.

Purchase the Recovery Drink if you’re going to do P90x. Otherwise you’ll be too sore to do the workouts on consecutive days. I haven’t followed it to the tee but I’ve seen unbelievable improvements. I could do 8 pullups when I started and now I can do 19 on a good day.
May 20th, 2011 at 10:37 AM
Steady I guess but they need obscene amounts of growth to come close to justifying their market cap. Thats a shitload of new subscribers and headhunters based on their current revenue sources.

Now I have to find another place to beg SC for a job. Yours sounds amazing.
Of course, anything sounds better than being unemployed and living in Lakeview.
