David Wright’s Ailing Back: The Mets announced late this afternoon that third baseman David Wright has a stress fracture in his back. He already went in for an MRI at the Hospital for Special Surgery and will get a second opinion before the team places him on the DL. During his press conference, Wright said “the pain is consistently there,” though he thought he would be able to play through it. If the initial diagnosis holds true, Sandy Alderson said the meticulously eyebrow-waxed Metropolitan will rest for 10 days. Alderson believes the injury occurred back on April 19 while Wright attempted to place a tag on speed demon, Carlos Lee. Sounds like David didn’t stretch properly.
