Sarah Silverman and Joe Buck in the FOX Booth Make For Really, Really Bad Television
All, Baseball, Comedians, Media Gossip/Musings, Video May 15th. 2011, 9:24am
Sarah Silverman popped into the Fox announcing booth last night to join Joe Buck and Tim McCarver for the fifth inning of the Yankees-Red Sox game, and the trio produced six minutes of awful television. Every attempt at humor fell flat. Silverman did get in an LSD line, but that’s about it. Tim McCarver sat around like a clueless third wheel. I think one of the problems here is that Joe Buck really thinks he’s funny. He’s not.

The only time having a guest in the booth worked was perhaps John Lennon’s visit to the MNF booth in the late 70s (or was that Felix & Oscar’s visit?). Other than that, I don’t understand the insistence by networks to include anyone else other than those assigned to the booth.

She’s not a real Red Sox fan, she’s a fan of being a fan. Ugh, when she started talking about the 2004 WS, I never wanted to punch a woman so much in my life. Celebrities need to stop speaking on behalf of all real fans.

How does anybody her funny?

You never heard Ronald Reagan in the booth with Harry Caray.

Any link of this available?

This lady is not funny. Big cans and a penchant to say the grossest thing you can think of is not a recipe for funny, but it seems to be a recipe for continued minor celebrity

this article could have been called “Joe Buck in the FOX Booth Makes For Really, Really Bad Television.” and it would also be true.

I’ve seen stills from Silverman’s new movie “Take This Waltz”, and I’m just gonna say…no.

Kümmel in the MNF booth a few years ago was pretty good. He didn’t hold back at all.

Has she ever been funny? Ever? How is she famous? God she sucks.

My apologies…when asked which comediennes he enjoyed he answered that women aren’t funny. Caused considerable uproar. I guess the incident wasn’t as well known as I thought it was.

well i sorta remember it, 3rdman, but jerry lewis said a lot of things, so just needed some narrowing. he coulda said something about jewish women or babes
May 15th, 2011 at 1:50 PM
Did he say a lot of things about babes or jewish women that the media went ballistic over? Despite all the things he has said the only shit I recall is this incident, “pretty lady”, and when he called his camera man a fag during one of his Jerry’s Kids telethons.

well, i’m pretty sure yer not yelling at me 3rdman, so let me clarify: he has said a lot of things, and since he was really famous a long long time ago but is one of those guys that many people are not sure if he;s alive or dead i would not remember if anything he said caused anyone to go ballistic. except if he told dean the scotch ran out

The only thing I’m yelling at is the screen when listening to Buck/Silverman slowly fingerbang themselves.
This incident happened a couple of years ago and was pretty infamous. Forgive me for assuming that readers would be well versed in recent pop culture.

I didn’t think it would be possible to make the Buck/McCarver booth any worse…I was wrong. Let’s try her with Sterling and Waldman, to see how bad she REALLY is.

TV Gold! Fist off, i dislike Joe Buck. Cant stand listening to him. So it was amazing to first see him, not know who Sarah Silverman was. She catches him do it. Then he is just at a loss for words to converse with her, and he ends it all by saying how he “Always has been a big fan of hers”. GIMME A BREAK BUCK! You had to read the sheet in front of you to know who she was! Take him off the air PLEASE!

It’s up to her to be funny, not Buck and McCarver. I expect baseball from those two guys…and often times don’t even get that. If McCarver looks and acts clueless hey; it’s her moment, not his. No one expects him to do card tricks or juggling in order to keep the audience engaged. She’s the comedian; if she’s not funny, it’s on her. Period.
