ESPN’s Matthew Barnaby Pled Not Guilty to Five Charges Stemming From “Domestic Incident”
ESPN hockey analyst Matthew Barnaby pled not guilty to five charges related to the “domestic incident” with his estranged wife Friday evening. Barnaby faces charges of felony criminal mischief, criminal contempt, criminal trespass, harassment and aggravated harassment. The felony criminal mischief charge “carries a possible prison term of up to four years.” The were “no injuries – and no physical contact.”
According to Buffalo News, Barnaby is accused of violating a court order barring him from their house, of kicking the door causing “an estimated $300 in damages” and of sending “a male friend of his estranged wife” threatening phone calls and text messages.
Barnaby returns to court on Wednesday.
Here is Barnaby’s statement:
“The past few months have been difficult on our entire family, as my wife and I decided to separate and divorce. Last evening, there was an unfortunate disagreement between us regarding a family matter. There was never any physical violence or threat of physical violence involved. I would like to ask that everyone respect our privacy during this difficult time, and hope that this will be resolved quickly and amicably.”

I’ve never heard of this guy until this incident. Is it too late to get this into the ESPN book?

This Twins team is just getting painful right now. This will be the first 8-game losing streak since July of 2003.

Hoo-ray for PS3 being back online. Great to have mlb.tv back on the big screen.

I like Barnaby. I can only hope for the best for his kids. Divorce is messy and there’s I’m sure a lot of finger pointing going on right now. Best to both sides.
Badger – You stuck with the MLB.tv, eh? I remember you were thinking about bailing after a couple weeks.

Yup. The connectivity issues got fixed a couple weeks into the season. Will be buying the package from now on so long as Milwaukee keeps trotting out a team that has a puncher’s chance in the Central. Kind of nice the PS3 attack coincided with the Brewers seven game losing streak.
