Predators’ Cameraman Gets Destroyed
The Nashville Predators were making their dramatic entrance before Game 3 of the Canucks series and one of the Predators’ destroyed this poor cameraman. The Predators lost that game and last night’s game. Now the Predators are down 3-1 and on the brink of elimination. I think its safe to start referring to this as the “Curse of the Cameraman.”

This is brilliant. Poor guy.
May 6th, 2011 at 10:51 AM
I’ll take it!
Saw this yesterday. Hilarious. Still not sure who it is that is that plows him over.

Matt Halischuk (traded to the Preds for Arnott), scored the OT winner vs. Sweden in the 2008 World Juniors.
May 6th, 2011 at 11:04 AM
It was Halischuk

Really hoping the Preds can pull out a win in game 5. The extra home date will really help the bottom line and help sell tickets for next year.
May 6th, 2011 at 11:10 AM
The last couple games have been about what I predicted, too much trouble scoring to keep up. I also think Pekka has gotten frustrated, because even though he gave up 3 goals in G3, he still played pretty well. Last night he gave up a couple he usually stops (though he must have gotten screened on the long shot by Kesler or Elder, whoever made the one from the blue line)

Has the NHL indicated when the next round will start if both series end tonight (assuming Canucks take care of business tomorrow)?
May 6th, 2011 at 11:12 AM
I’m confident the Wings win tonight. But who knows about game 5. The Hockey Gods have been helping out the Sharks all series so maybe they make an exception for the rest of the series. If they lose, fine. I really want to shave my beard off.

They haven’t, as far as I can tell, would anticipate they start mid-week if they are all wrapped up this weekend.

For those interested, US up 1-0 on Canada in the 2nd period at the World Championships.
May 6th, 2011 at 11:16 AM
1-1.

Hey WWOS, have Preds crowds been blowing train whistles everytime Tootoo comes on the ice? I have never noticed before and I’m surprised they’re allowed. The Nashvilled crowds have really been into it that’s for sure.
It would be nice to close this on Saturday and not have to travel back to Nashville (and have Detroit get a few games) but the Preds do not go away quietly. It’s both frustrating and impressive!
May 6th, 2011 at 11:19 AM
I love that Tootoo wears number 22.
May 6th, 2011 at 11:20 AM
Go USA in all tournaments discussed.
May 6th, 2011 at 11:21 AM
Yeah, that’s been going on a few years. Kinda dumb, kinda cool. Not nearly as bad as when the announcers say “The Nashville Predators” and the crowd finishes with him “are on. the. POWER PLAY.”
I have mixed feelings… mainly because it’s costing me $250 in tickets if there’s a game 6, less than a week before I’m paying for a wedding. If they win game 5, they better win game 6!
May 6th, 2011 at 11:21 AM
Preds win Game 5, Vancouver comes back and wins Game 6. It’s bizarro conference semifinals for the Canucks this year. They’ll do exactly what the Hawks did to them last year.
May 6th, 2011 at 11:23 AM
If Round 2 ends up the way they appear to be headed I’ll end up with 3/4 conference finalists correct in my hockey pools. Could be a profitable start to the summer.
May 6th, 2011 at 11:24 AM
So THIS is why you want Boudreau fired. I see how it is.
May 6th, 2011 at 11:24 AM
Jack Johnson scores.
/2-1
May 6th, 2011 at 11:24 AM
If they do lose in 5 games, it’s been a pretty competitive series, nonetheless. Suter and Weber (though Weber didn’t play as well as usual last night IMO) showed they are one of the best defensive tandems in the league (please don’t leave, Shea). They also have the potential next year for a Ryan Ellis/Cody Franson defensive pairing. Pekka is clearly a top 5 goaltender for years to come. Just don’t know if Legwand or Fisher can be a top line center, they are clearly one top offensive player away from being a very legitimate Cup threat.
May 6th, 2011 at 11:25 AM
Would love to see Tootoo in a Flyer uniform.
May 6th, 2011 at 11:26 AM
It was nice of the couple of guys who came over to help him up. Remember when Fleury bit it coming out of the bench doors in the 08 Stanley Cup finals? They lost to the Wings. Nashville’s losing to Vancouver, unfortunately.
Go Lightning.
May 6th, 2011 at 11:26 AM
Loved his work on the Curious George soundtrack.
May 6th, 2011 at 11:26 AM
He won’t. Agree with everything else you said. They’re currently $19M under the cap for next season and have 17 players signed. Weber will cost them a good chunk of change but I wonder… would it be possible to fit Richards under the Preds cap?
May 6th, 2011 at 11:27 AM
It’s a little funny here in that the first round seemed to be more tense than the second, even though the games have all been very close all the way through. It’s obviously the Hawks thing in the first round, but personally I’d like to see them wrap it up and get at least a few days rest.
SC, you might like this link. It reflects the respect most in Vancouver had for this Hawks team, 8th seed or not.
I’m kinda surprised they can do it considering it’s whistles. I’ve seen it in European soccer, but it was stopped after it created confusion.
May 6th, 2011 at 11:30 AM
Jack Johnson scores.
Really not that impressed with Reimer, would have preferred Bernier.
May 6th, 2011 at 11:30 AM
I’m not all that big of a fan. I guess he’s fine for an instigator, but I’m not all that big on any of our forwards, inlcuding especially Kostitsyn/Hornquist, who are two of the top three scorers on the team. The Preds have basically a 2nd/3rd/4th forward line playing 1st/2nd/3rd line minutes
May 6th, 2011 at 11:30 AM
I think there will be one or more teams that offer sheet him. So who knows. I think Richards ends up on the Rags or Buffalo.
May 6th, 2011 at 11:31 AM
would it be possible to fit Richards under the Preds cap?
No.
May 6th, 2011 at 11:33 AM
I think there will be one or more teams that offer sheet him.
I be very surprised if the Preds even let it get to a point where other teams have the opportunity to put in an offer sheet.
May 6th, 2011 at 11:34 AM
Good read. I read Nucks Misconduct, too. I’ve seen credit given there as well. It continues my mantra of “they better fucking sign him before he gets to arbitration.” I will not have another Niemi countdown summer.
I’m still rooting against the Canucks… but you already knew that.

With Suter and Weber coming due soon, I imagine Sullivan is gone, given the cost/injury history. Erat/Legwand/Dumont are all on the books for 4.5M through 2012 unfortunately, and as much as I hate to say it, some of that money has to go to Joel Ward, and Kostitsyn (who now that I realize was making 500K, I’m much cooler with.
May 6th, 2011 at 11:35 AM
He’s really good. Sophomore slump. That guy will be a solid goal scorer for as long as Nashville wants to retain him.
May 6th, 2011 at 11:35 AM
I’m not all that familiar with their system, but the Preds have some pretty solid prospects coming up right? I know some of their young guys on D – Franson and Blum played Junior here in Vancouver – but not sure up front?
May 6th, 2011 at 11:36 AM

You’re a numbers guy, WWOS. That has more toys to play with, including a calculator.
May 6th, 2011 at 11:37 AM
Understood! Just want to point out some interesting stats and let you know the respect (and, I’ll say it, fear) fans had of the Hawks here.
If you still plan to come burn Rogers Arena (aka GM Place) down let me know. Summer’s a great time to do that around here.
May 6th, 2011 at 11:40 AM
Be curious to see if Kesler gets matched with Thornton and Marleau or against Heater’s line.
May 6th, 2011 at 11:40 AM
I’m not all that familiar with their system, but the Preds have some pretty solid prospects coming up right?
Franson/Klein/Blum are all pretty young. The Preds prefer to have players spend time in the AHL (i.e. Ellis next year) and the depth on the blueline affords them the ability to do that.
No much in terms of impact forwards in the system at the moment and no 1st round pick this summer though.
May 6th, 2011 at 11:40 AM
I’ll be honest; I didn’t even know Legwand was still with the Preds until I started watching this series. I remember when they drafted him 2nd overall and he just seemed to be hurt all the time (probably misperception on my part?).
May 6th, 2011 at 11:42 AM
Yeah, I wasn’t as big a fan of Hornquist and Kostitsyn, but if we aren’t scoring anyway, I’d always rather develop the younger players than pay the older ones who are basically not going to be anything other than what they are right now.
I know nothing about Ryan Ellis except that he won the AHL player of the year this year and he’s a defenseman, so I can only assume he and Franson will make a great pairing. There are some forwards with potential too I hear, but I don’t know much about them.
Thanks, SC… I’m gonna go try to get us a forward now. What is Malkin’s cap hit next year????
May 6th, 2011 at 11:42 AM
8.7
May 6th, 2011 at 11:46 AM
Somehow I’m hoping Geoffriyon and Spaling end up being a good third line next year. They were paired in Milwaukee I guess and were pretty good.
If they could unload a guy like Legwand or Erat, I’d be fine with it. I feel like Fisher is a good pickup for them, even at the cap hit the next couple years, but Legwand is our top center right now, and I feel like that’s a problem.
May 6th, 2011 at 11:46 AM
Pens would love to dump Malkin on you. Don’t fall for that. He may not even be ready for Opening Night next year, too.
Geez and I were talking about it the other day. If the Pens had taken Toews over Staal in the 2006 draft, we’d all be sad pandas right now. That team would be LOADED.
May 6th, 2011 at 11:48 AM
And Ryan Ellis is still a year away, damnit.
May 6th, 2011 at 11:49 AM
Even though this round has been a dud it should set up an AWESOME conference finals. Since the start of the year I’ve wanted to see Vancouver/San Jose in the conference finals. I’m really pulling for Niemi to win two cups in two years with two different teams. I think that would be a great story.
Lightning/Bruins should be fun too. I love watching St. Louis play. Seeing Chara try to chase him down for 7 games will be a treat. If that pairing is against them. I would think they would be.
May 6th, 2011 at 11:55 AM
If they could unload a guy like Legwand or Erat,
Legwand has a no trade and Erat has a no movement clause.
WWOS, if you’re looking at capgeek, look for a symbol of a lock next to a players name, it’ll tell you whether they have special trade/movement clauses in their contracts.
May 6th, 2011 at 11:57 AM
Nashville got screwed over by Alex Radulov, that guy could have been the top line winger the team needs.
May 6th, 2011 at 12:02 PM
FUCK!
May 6th, 2011 at 12:25 PM
On power plays, or all situations?
