I think we’re talking apples and oranges. A lot more could go wrong with the hostage rescue attempt – by that I mean civilians dying. Here, if they tried and failed and the soldiers were killed/captured, it would have been shitty for sure, but no civilians would have died – only guys who signed up for what they were doing (which isn’t to say their deaths would be less meaningful). And as the previous poster said, if it came out that they knew where he was and didn’t do something it would have been a shit storm. I, too, think this was a no-brainer.

Don’t get me wrong, Obama has been the man the past few days… but quotes like this one are really annoying…

Gutsy? Was there really any other decision to make? Could you imagine what would have happened to him had it been leaked that he knew where Osama was but didn’t order the strike? That’s the dumbest comment/quote I’ve read about this entire story… and it’s coming from a “top counter-terrorism adviser.”

a little history review would take you back to 1979 and the failed Iran Hostage rescue attempt. It will also take you to the place where you could see the effect the failure had on the country and the perception of the Carter Administration. What would have happened to Obama if the mission failed, and those soldiers were captured or killed? It might be why the dumb guy with a lot of insight called it a gutsy call.

Going into this series, I felt two guys needed to step up… Niemi and Boyle. Niemi had an average series in the first round, he let in some softies that had no business getting through. Boyle was just bad, lots of turnovers and just seemed a step behind to every loose puck. Well Niemi made some great saves in the first two games and Boyle played like he should have, and it turned into 2 wins. If those two played like they did against LA, the series would be 2-0 DET right now.

OK what about this – friend has a destination wedding, people claim they can’t go because of money (the couple picked a very affordable all-inclusive resort in Mexico) only to book a week-long cruise a few weeks before the wedding. That’s bullshit, right? Just say you don’t want to go to the wedding, don’t give a lame excuse like money then book some bullshit caribbean cruise and brag about it to everyone (including the couple getting married).

yeah, only viable excuse is having the cruise booked far in advance of even knowing about the wedding.

but i also think destination weddings go either way. i would have one so that only the people that really want to be there will be there, instead of the moochers looking for a free meal and open bar.

Side note re popcorn: Tell me if this sounds strange, but my friend turned me on to this back in high school and people either love it or hate it…. I buy popcorn, with butter, and then take it over to the jalapenos and drizzle only the juice onto the popcorn. Each time I drizzle, I shake the bag to get the dry pieces up top and drizzle again. I love the taste of the jalapeno juice with the butter and salt from the popcorn. My girl refuses to even try one piece of it.
